I must agree to two pro-KO things:

1. If I can not buy the original thing (no Masterpiece, no Alternators, no Binaltech, only some of the movie Toys are sold in germany !!!) then I have to go for a KO or not get anything at all - which would suck. So KO it is !

2. If I ever see a ~1:30 or 1:35 scale movie Blackout I WILL BUY IT. Don't care who made it or stuff. Why can't they make at least one set of those figures in scale ?

But I also have my problems with them:

1. Thinking you buy the real thing and then some ass on eBay sells you a cheap KO for way too much money sucks. They should be like they were 15 years ago: completely wrong colors and maybe scale ;)

2. ... oh ... wait. That was it. If Hasbro or Takara would deliver those toys to germany I would never ever buy a KO ! Same goes for "if they ever produced them on scale, like the alternators line..."

Conclusion: as long as Hasbro, Takara or whoever else don't sell what I want, I will have to get it somewhere else !!!

I've got nothing against the KOs that have been around for a long time, such gestalts. They are cheap ass toys and are easy to ignore and, since they don't cost much, if one does buy them and they break it is no big deal.

I don't like these fake reissues that have been coming out this past year. First it was Swoop, then Mirage, and various repaints of that Mirage, and now Wheeljack and two more Dinobots. Not to mention cassette-bots and mini-bots. These not only increase the chance of some jerk selling loose pieces as vintage, but they are priced as if they were official reissues. I know a real MISB Swoop can cost a lot, but still doesn't justify the price of the knock-off. The mini-bots are even worse, often seeing for $20 each.

WICKED! thanks a heep dude. well I don't know about you crazy kids, but I know what i'll be doing for the rest of the night.

wish me luck.

I hate knockoffs.

Maybe they're good for kitbash fodder but other than that they're garbage.

What pi$$ed me off was before I got rid of my G1 I bought a Swoop from ebay, it looked nice and vintage it had worn paint and sticker wear and I paid a load of cash for it, I got him and was pleased until I read the guide to KO's and realised the reason my launcher wouldnt fit in the peg hole was it was a fake, the seller had just worked on it to make it look vintage.

Holy crap! You're kidding me right BR? I hope it wasn't too much off the market price of the KO swoop since he not cheap either.

I have mixed feelings about the KOs. I mostly agree with what Goki said about them in the past. Supporting them will just hurt TFs in general. But it's getting to the point where it's unavoidable. If you like them or not, there will be KOs made. With the recently high quality copies of both G1 toys and vintage boxes, it really throws a wrench into the machine. I can see a point in some KOs with an interesting twist on them. Like clear dinobots or the different mirage variations. And even some of the original dinobots, mirage and wheeljack releases. But I really don't see a point in the release of Metroplex. He's isn't that hard to get complete. And if you really want a MIB one, you're be willing to spurge $150-$200 for a vintage one. It's to the point where they want to make as much money on anything they can copy (can't blame them) but at the same time flooding the market with KOs. I will get the KO metrotitan cause I don't feel like spending $400 on an ugly metroplex that looks like a KO. At this one will be a KOs. Still, I'm glad I'm mostly done with G1 besides just a handful of figures cause it's sort of pulling me away from the hobby with other factors involved. :tdown

Don't mind KO's as a temporary solution and i've had some Blotty quality and also some good quality KO's in my time, particularly my oversized Combaticons (from Poundland) and my various combiner limbs (Also from Poundland)

And this isn't a bad site to help you spot the differences between the new range of official and KO figures inc Mirage, Wheeljack and Sludge...

I'm a little torn on this issue.

In one respect I like having safe, lead free, quality toys for me and my kids. I have a 15 month old that I let play with some of my transformers, as well as some other toys. I found some bootleg toys in a box I had and thought, cool some more toys...wait NO- Thier bootlegs!!!...who knows what kinda paint, platic, etc they could have used. So I threw them away.

However, I customize alot of my toys. I made alot of alternators that hasbro nver made or intened to make. (got the whole G1 car Line up)

So I can understand someone buying a bootleg if they can not get a certian toy that hasbro refuses to reissue- IE Swoop, Mirage, and wheeljack.

Morally yeah it's wrong to steal, but a nice Reissue Wheeljack would be pretty cool.
