Well, its a service that replaces what Takara can not or will not privide to us. For a company to say the molds are lost or broken and then turn right around and have a KO made by some other company is quite a slap in the face. No, most are not high quality but I believe if Takara went in and made a new mold from an old casting like these other folks are doing I am sure the quality would be near original.

I think its a "Don't want to!" more than a "We can't!" "We can't" goes out the friggin door every week when a new KO is announced.

I agree with that.

Sure they're cheaper, but hey! at least we're getting it!

And by "we", I mean you guys, 'coz I'm not interested in those G1 KO's much.

I'd rather have Masterpiece Dinobots roaming around me.

Gnaw would probably be interesting for the accessories. There are so many originals without those. Sometimes you can find the KO accessories from Chinese sellers. Have them shipped in an envelope, and that's a bargain. :thumb

the worst thing with knockoffs is: the toy stores give half the page for transformers in toy catalogues to knockoffs, and they are some BIG grandparent-traps. i usually don't go to toys r' us stores because of the knockoffs they sell there.

My biggest problem with them is you really can't tell if they are original or KO's. The boxes are identical to the G1's,and that to me screams rip-off! I'll bet lots of people buy them, and then turn around and try to sell them to unsuspecting collectors as originals. At least Takara puts the encore symbols on their boxes so you can clearly recognize it for what it is.

Are you talking about the Chinese ones again? They aren't KOs.

I was just talking about this with my roommate yesterday. I told him that a local comic shop has the Tark 4pack re-issue Megs, OP, SS, & Soundwave.

my roommate replied "oh you mean fakes". & I looked at him like he was from another planet. how can any TF re-issue KO or what ever REALY be called fakes? way back in 1982 when Hasbro's marketing people travled over to the east they found these "niffty" lil robots in a whole host of mom & pop Aisian shops as well as major chains.

IMO, its like accuseing Italy of sell KO pizza! they invented it. also for all you bleeding harts out there feel bad for a wealthy co. like Hasbor being ripped off, well consider this.

Has Hasbro ever paid one damn dime to co. like Lambogini, Porsha, toyta, Lotus, U.S. armed forces & any other corperation that these TFs are modeled after? so like some one already said, every body steals from every body. its the nature of the game.

oh yeah & one more note on KOs. if Hasbro REALY hates the damn things so flippin much then why on earth do they make it so freakin hard to find & buy the stuff???

don't blame it all on the scalpers! Hasbro likes to play its lil tricks to get the collectors all worked up & then just tease them.

so I don't feel bad for them. by the way, I'm on the bus now headed to the mall. I have every intention of buying that Tark Megs.

1. hasbro DO pay for licences when they model their figures after real vehicles, but they don't when they make up a vehicle (that includes genericising)

2. it wasn't asia who invented it, it was companies that hasbro aquired a license from, and the knockoffs are made by other companies.

3. it's not just scalpers, it's the shops who didn't think they would sell that much because they where "movie-based", and the last movie-based toyline is still warming the shelves, and it is also the fact that the movie got in MANY more fans, plus the scalpers.

4. KO's don't have a license, wich means that they are stealing intellectual property by stealing the moulds.

boulderdash! Hasbro never paid any of thoes exotic car companies a dime! & Hasbro's people did find TFs already in exsistance. hasbro just had to pay other co. to make up the whole "Autobot/Decepticon" story line behind them.

I say there's nothing wrong w/KOs. if hasbro won't give me my fix then i'll just get it ware I can find it. & Hasbro can jsut be damned.
