Pros and Cons

I'm a bit torn on what sort of reaction Prime SHOULD have had for Jazz's death. I mean, keep in mind that Optimus has seen thousands of years of war, and numerous soldiers die for the Autobot cause. I can't think of any other reaction a weary general like him could give to another casuality, even if it is one who fought besides him in The Final Battle .

Everyone's always like "hey those hackers were useless", which makes me wonder if anyone was paying attention (or if they just wanted to get back to the giant robot scenes). Anthony Anderson's character is the one who was able to re-establish communication between the Secretary of Defense and the US military, in order to coordinate an attack on the Decepticons. And he wouldn't have been there if not for Hot Australian Hacker Woman.

But you didn't need the both of them. The writers could have had the Hot Australian Hacker Woman reestablish the communications without ever going to get Anthony Anderson, or have Anthony Anderson's hacker character be working for the Department to begin with and cut the hot chick out entirely.

Both ways would've made sense, and would be more economical storytelling than how they did it.

For the record, I liked both the characters and so I don't really mind how it was done.

As for Prime's reaction to Jazz's death...the Autobots are going to an unknown planet to do battle with a large group of their sworn enemies over the single, most important thing to their race. They probably made some peace with idea they wouldn't all be coming back before they left.

FWIW, it'd be pretty easy to reason the Allspark out of the plot.

Not really. Without the Allspark, there would have been no purpose for the Transformers to come to Earth in the first place, nor a reason for the Autobots to seek Sam out specifically. The Allspark was central to the entire movie.

any chance the dvd will have a hacker-less version? :(

I'd not mind interaction while in vehicle mode as long as it was during "drive" time. If they were sitting still it would feel like a money saving tactic.

There's actually a scene like that in the movie.

When Starscream first attacks everyone in the city, Bumblebee, Rachet and Ironhide transform to robots and start doing stuff; however, after all of the explosions, they cut to everyone lying in the street and Jazz is just sitting there in the middle of the street as a car.

Yeah Jazz sitting in the street was a little odd at first. It's possible that he was knocked offline for a moment until Sam told him to move back though...

That's what I thought, cause he moves slow when Sam tells him to back up. I think Jazz was going to act in car mode to get closer to the action, like he did with Devy-Brawl, but the explosions just rocked him too much.

What? It tied everything together.

:note Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons :note

There's a mighty workable plot right there :tflaugh

* points out yet again that Prime was ready to sacrafice bumblebee with every intention on completing the mission at hand. He's already accepted the fact that some may not come back alive.

I assume he took Jazz being torn in half as how a leader would take one of his own going down. It's not like he's going to do a giant Vader no as the shot zooms out into space or anything. Prime isn't emo. The job was done, thats all that matters.

I didn't really care too much for Jazz in the movie though.. he just seemed sorta "there" .. what little wasn't taken between Prime and Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ratchet had something witty to say. Jazz just had cool animation.

But thats just my statements on this whole thing.

I have a feeling Jazz will come back anyway.. and hopefully he'll do more than just dance around in the background. =P

Hot Australian Hacker Woman. What's her name again? Yeah, great character.

If you cut the hackers and the virus compleatly out of the movie, no one would wonder why the military showed up when robots started ripping up the city. While you're at it, Get rid of the soldier characters. You wouldn't know what happed to blackout, but hey, anyone notice Baricade's death scene? That move could have been an hour shorter, had the same amount of TFs, and made more sense.
