Pros and Cons

Recommended Posts

Before I get into the post. I would like to introduce myself. I like all sorts of cartoons, and Transformers have become one of them. I have recently been introduced to the Transformers fandom, and I have been trying to keep up with all of it. So far I have watched all of the American G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and Armada. I have also been reading all the comics which has been taking most of my time. I guess the new transformers movie sucked me into the Transformers universe. Well that about wraps it up so onto the topic.

It seems that most of the topics on the movie were one sided so I decided to make this post. Basically I wanted to hear your opinions, both positive and negative about the movie, and yes there has to be some cons.

Well here is my list of why I liked and disliked the movie.

PROS

1. Transformations were just awesome.

2. Great action sequences ---- Depends if you like Micheal Bay's style.

3. I like the relationship between Sam and Bumblebee. It had the Steven Spielberg feel to it.

4. IMO I liked most of the robots designs. I don't know why many people complain about it.

5. It had Peter Cullen.

6. Shia Labeouf is a down to earth actor.

7. And Megan Fox is hot.

8. The movie had a comic book like story where it has several subplots.

CONS

1. Thought a lot of the lines were pretty cheesy. ---- I heard Micheal Bay likes to give the actors freedom it what they say.

2. The plot lacked in a lot of areas.

3. DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROBOTS. It focused too much on the people.

4. The subplot with the high schoolers working for the Department of Defense was just stupid. I thought they were pretty much useless in the movie.

5. Thought they put in too many characters so character development suffered.

6. Ending just came out of nowhere. Was expecting a huge fight scene.

7. Jazz's death. I mean Prime just holds two halves of his carcass and all he says is "AWww Jazz".

8. I saw so many GM and Apple logos. They pop up every 10 minutes.

Overall

It was a huge fun stupid ass blockbuster movie, but just because it is stupid doesn't mean it is bad. I loved the movie. The fan inside of me made me watch it 5 times on the big screen. Hopefully in the sequel they just improve on the story and focus more on the robots. I would also like to see Bumblebee and Sam's relationship develop more. You know, see how it is possible for a robot and boy trying to coexist with each other, and the humans just need better lines except Shia.

Thanks for reading. Hopefully you guys have some input on the movie also.

I agree with you except for one point, the whole last 40 minutes was one huge battle :tflaugh what more of a "big battle" do you need?

No, I meant with Prime and Megatron. I thought it was kind of... I don't know.. Sudden. Expecting more of a duel between them.

Well I also don't agree with you about the number of human characters really... they all had their plot purpose and added a sense of realism to the movie. About the battle between Prime and Megs, yeah they could have shown more.

Plus, it's way cheaper to have "human only" scenes. For this reason alone I wouldn't expect to see too much additional focus on the robots in the sequels either.

Well I would have like the humans if some of them weren't so stupid. I thought the hackers were completely useless in the movie, what did they really do in the movie besides stating the obvious, plus they were forgotten at the end.

well you kind of hit the nail on the head, they were our (the general audiences really) narrator as to what was going on because as "Fans" we already knew so we didn't feel the need for them as much.

And product placement is becoming a part of movies, so ya might as well get used to it. Would you rather see "Fjord" cars or something? It just adds more realism IMO.

And any more robots would be too much. They barely had enough characteriszation as it was. And the number and amount of human invovlment was fine IMO, as it's got to have some way to ground it to us.

And WTF? I mean...the last thirty minutes of the movie was a "big battle"...

Nah... hackers were not at all necessary. All they said was OMG this is not some country trying to attack us, it is some super uber futuristic computers. I mean all the other human parts were fine. I especially like Sam and the head of Sector 7, he was good at acting like a prick.

To solve the money problems for more screen time with the robots, why can't they just talk in their vehicle modes. I want the robots to also be developed as well as the humans. Less focus on humans and more focus on the robots is all I ask.
