I voted robotic mechanical dinos but not like G1 more like TM2 Dinobot, and having them be skeletal in dino mode , and have their bony toes be the fingers. Kind of think Classics Grimlock if he was a skeleton, and instead of his hand being made visible by flipping his feet out of the way have the feet actually be his hands. Maybe have Swoop, and Slag too. But not all 5 at least not all 5 in their first appearance. I'm thinking that some humans are drilling like an oil rig or something and they disturb the Dinobots by accident and the Dinobots lead by Grimlock think it is an attack by the Decepticon they had been sent to fight. Then they surface and see these little beings that are no threat and lumber off in Dino bone mode to find the Decepticon they were sent after Magmatron.( He'll be all one bot but 3 separate dinos like in Beast Wars the Gathering. ) Spike sees them on the news and contacts Optimus back on Cybertron asking him to come and investigate he agrees and brings his soldiers from the first movie and a couple of new recruits. Then Starscream returns to earth to get all of the energon supply that we have out of our natural resources. To that end he has brought 6 of Cybertron's greatest scientists who have been working on a combination matrix but the reason he brought them was to design a way to collect energon, and they take construction vehicle forms to dig and work the elements into energon. He also brings his brothers Thundercracker, and Skywarp. Magmatron beats the crap out of Starscream and brings him into submission thus becoming the new leader of the Decepticons, and the war continues.

Umm...I hate to say this RVTS, but

Optimus, Ratchet, Ironhide and Bumblebee don't go back to Cybertron. The planet is dead and with the Allspark gone, they have no reason to go back, but a message was sent out at the end of the book by Optimus telling any other TFs out there among the stars that they have a new home on Earth and that they're waiting for them. Also, the kids name is Sam. If you're wondering why I didn't include Jazz, well, he dies.

Now as for Magmatron, no. Just no. We don't need more than one gestalt type character in the film, no less two and on the same side no less.

Plus don't forget that in BW, the Grimlock toy while indeed a new version of G1 Grimlock, was G1 Grimlock's spark stored in a stasis pod waiting for him to be needed, and he was activated in "The Gathering" but only for a brief few minutes.

And another thing, we don't need the Dinobots to look skeletal. It'd just look kind of creepy. And I'm not talking in the manner of movie Megatron. I'm talking just plain wrong. Besides, all five or none for me.

Ok I was thinking last night at work how about after the final battle of the first movie Starscream flies away and succumbs to his injuries and slams into an underground cavern where he finds 5 dino skeletons and decides that these will make excellent warriors. So he decides to build them into a new Decepticon army. Only problem no sparks so he thinks back to when Megatron when chasing after the Allspark and remembers that there was a crew of Autobots that pursued Megs and if he had crashed here then maybe they had as well. So to that end he scans the planet for any protoforms in stasis lock and comes upon the 5 member crew of Grimlock's lightning strike coalition which had been sent to bring Megs back at all costs. They had however crashed down here just about 24 hours before the meteor hit that wiped out the dinosaurs. Starscream places the sparks into the Dinobots that he has built using remnant parts of both the lightning strike coalition, and his fallen Decepticon comrades. Also during theis time more and more cybertronians arrive on earth any and all Decepticons must join Autobot forces or be incarcerated. There is however a group of 6 decepticon scientists who crash near a construction site and take on the forms of the construction vehicles and they don't like Optimus Prime's decree so they begin work on a way to become an even more powerful force of DEVASTATION. Eventually turning themselves into Devastator. Starscream finishes reprogramming the Dinobots and sends them out on a rampage their reduced intelect a result of his tampering with their thought process circuitry. BB recognizes big Grim and tries to talk to him a decision he quickly regrets and that's when Sam tries to reason with Grimlock surprised that this human doesn't fear him Grimlock enters into broken dialog with Sam and is convinced to help fight Starscream and his Decepticons which have now been released by Devastator, and are rampaging across the planet. How's that?

Biggest issue is that

Megatron does not crash here millions of years ago, so no reason for the Dinobots to do so

However, I can dig LSC chasing Megatron to Earth though. Another problem is

SS doesn't fly around Earth, he flies off into space from all the accounts so far

. So you'd have to work around that one. Also, I don't think the Decepticons can be imprisoned here on Earth, so not sure how you'd want to rework. But, nice start, keep reworking. :thumb

Ok how about this? Starscream flies away toward space and succumbs to his injuries and crashes to earth slamming into an underground cavern where he finds 5 dino skeletons and decides that these will make excellent warriors. So he decides to build them into a new Decepticon army. Only problem no sparks so he thinks back to when Megatron when chasing after the Allspark and remembers that there was a crew of Autobots that pursued Megs and if he had crashed here then maybe they had as well. Starscream places the sparks into the Dinobots that he has built using remnant parts of both the lightning strike coalition, and his fallen Decepticon comrades (making them look very similar to the Beast Wars Transmetals). Also during this time more and more cybertronians arrive on earth any and all Decepticons must join Autobot forces or be incarcerated. Their incarceration is more of a rehabilitation which will take place at the Autobots new Pacific floor base. There is however a group of 6 decepticon scientists who crash near a construction site and take on the forms of the construction vehicles and they don't like Optimus Prime's decree so they begin work on a way to become an even more powerful force of DEVASTATION. Eventually turning themselves into Devastator. Ok those three issues fixed how about now? Oh and wait until you guys see the designs I'm sketching for Big Grim and crew. All I can tell you right now is they will look brutal. Oh and just so you guys don't think I'm going to cheat with Grim's design he won't transform like TM Megs, and my designs will call for him to be about Ultra class not Voyager. Sludge will have to be leader or Supreme class, Snarl, and Slag will work as Voyagers, and Swoop works fine as a deluxe.

I agree. The other things I also might change is don't make all the Dinobots with stunted speech like in the cartoon. Grimlock was the only one in both the comic and cartoon who had stunted speech. In the comics, the rest of the Dinobots had normal speech.

Of course, I don't know how good I feel about the Dinobots starting out as Decepticons???

I'm sorry, but watching some Decepticons crash in on the scene, ready to kick ass, only to be met by a group of organic dinosaurs... I really think my head would explode from the awesomeness.

See, right now, the most fascinating visual effects have been presented with Dinosaurs. I'm sure that the TFs in this movie are going to rock, too. Seeing a combination of both would be mind-blowing. I'm really looking at it in the visual sense...

Not to mention the fact that robots fighting dinosaurs is pretty much as awesome as any action movie will ever be. Plus, Spielberg loves himself some ORGANIC DINOS.

Right on RR. But, the only thing is, which would look better. BW type Dinobots, or G1 type Dinobots. If we have the G1 named Dinobots but with BW alt modes, we'll have idiots like that guy on youtube who dressed up as a Jedi and complained about the look of the characters saying that they're not G1 enough and that it was stated by Spielberg himself that the movie was supposed to be a live action G1 movie with G1 characters for the G1 fans (which we all know is not the case).

But if we have the G1 named Dinobots in robotic Dinosaur alternate modes, how would that look too (IMO wouldn't look too bad).

But I'm open to either.

My only request is that they don't use any wierd dinosaurs like pachycephalosaurus (the hard-head) or the dimetrodon. Just stick with the T-Rex/Triceratops/Brontosaurus (Apatasaurus, whichever floats your boat on naming)/Stegosaurus/Pteranodon set and you'll be fine and probably won't hear too many complaints from the fans.

I would like to see the dino-bots start out as dinosaurs, I'm thinking an alt mode that looks like the alien queen from avp, just change the alien head to a t- rex head for Grimlock. Later In the movie they change their forms to something that suits them better, I also would like to see Grimlock in conflict with Prime, something like a relatonship simular to wolverine and cyclops.

True... and I'd be open to Robotic Dinosaur idea if they weren't complete G1 designs. A T-rex that looks like a T-rex metal skeleton with circuitry and robots inside.

I'd suggest that they have a holographic image of a real dinosaur, with the metallic build underneath. The holographic image could deactivate, showing the real skeleton within. And they cold transform!

But, why would they need to use that? Dinosaurs walking around in modern times - I mean, they don't need to look like real organic dino-beasts, since dinos don't exist now. There just is no reason for them to use the holograms to "hide" their robotic forms. Just saying is all.
