There's a certain irony to your post......

Yeah maybe, but BGC is still Autobot... not a decepticon!

They did make the Comic Convention exclusive Alt. Nemesis Prime a simultaneous Hasbro Toy Shop offering.

If they learned a bit from the problems that arose with that, as far as I'm concerned, I'd be THRILLED if they JUST made Thundercracker a HTS offering for the week of Botcon.

As a casual collector, Classics roped me in. And while I'm jazzed about the movie, I'm not really planning on getting the toys.

In terms of movies/cartoons, I'm excited about ALL things TF. However, when it comes to toys, I only buy G1ish toys.

It's unlikely these will see retail release but if they JUST released TC at the Hasbro Toy Shop, it would keep the set as a special "must have" for completionists and give slightly more casual fans an out.

Charge $15-20 JUST for Thundercracker at the site or offer a seeker set for $40 at the site.

That still makes the convention set valuable and, if anything, raises the value of Bugbyte and Dreadwind for scalpers/collectors in the long run.

I was referring to the Botcon convention exclusives, Alt Nemesis Prime was a bit of a special case - plus, from the sounds of it not many people got him off of Hasbro's site anyway. Plenty of previous Botcon conventon exclusives have had remolds and none have been offered again.

Come on, the only worthwhile figure in that set for scalpers/collectors is Thundercracker.

a lot of this is just the ability, or lack thereof, to mentally wrap yourself around paying a certain fee for a certain figure.

Nobody would bat an eye if someone spent 2x the convention set price on a Shuffler. What, cuz he's super rare?

Or is it that he's the size of a friggin walnut?

Maybe it's the excitement of the chance of swallowing him?

Yknow, those personal pizzas at Pizza Hut cost $3.25 plus tax - and cost the Hut TWELVE CENTS to make.

The question is:

Do you want these figures.

Or not?

Everything you buy is overpriced, compared to the cost of production. That's how profit is made. Now you can call me stupid (i'll think you're an ass for it), but I'm grabbing that set. I'm happy as hell to own Botcon 06 Cheetor, Rattrap, Rhinox, Dinobot, and Tigatron. I know I paid $182 for figs that should cost $41 plus tax. "should" meaning instead of making them exclusives, Hasbro decided to do a series based on pre-Beast Wars Cybertron. All of those toys would've been at retail. Guess what - they weren't! Neither are these.

Buying toys at our age is a totally frivolous waste of money anyway, when you really think about it. It's all a matter of "I want these figures."

I don't expect Hasbro to do anything but continue to find ways to make money off of me. They don't disappoint.

I mean yeah, this set is expensive, but so's a set of golf clubs, a Rolex, and a diamond ring. I just want them, and in two months I won't be feeling the hurt of the money i spent, but I'll still enjoy these figures.

How much money do people spend on Prada bags?

one last thing - to a non-collector, to your average guy into drinking and building things or whatever, we're all stupid for collecting toys. Let's stop with the infighting.

A-MEN

You are either willing to pay for this or not. No Starscreaming will change this or put them for 1/5 of the price on the common market later. Blot or get off of the pot.

Hehe, I knew I liked you Maximo.

Those are some very good points, and it is all a matter of perspective. Some things are totally too expensive to some, but to others, "[they] won't be feeling the hurt of the money [they] spent." That is why I bought BT Black Convoy even though I probably shouldn't have. I could afford it and I wanted it and I am glad I did. It is a little different for me w/ this Botcon set b/c I feel it is grossly overpriced (yeah I know and BC wasn't, yeah right), but as it is I am only barely holding on to not buying it. We shall see.

It's very interesting to see the difference between this forums. Here, everybody is complaining about the overpriced figures, while on other forums, everybody is jumping on this. Interesting to see the difference groups of interest.
