What do you NOT like about Transformers?

Recommended Posts

I thought my comments were, but I suppose it is up to interpretation. Also, I don't think I was condemning the overall efforts made for the lines, but at the same time, people were raising valid points.

I hate the kids getting all the spotlight in recent shows [RID, Armada now Energon] Someone step on them already. Atleast Spike and Sparkplug had a purpose.

Yeah, that is kind of annoying (although Kicker bother me the least our of all of the TF's kid friends). I don't know why they think that kids need to see other kids in order to "relate" to the Transformers. Beast Wars was a huge hit and there wasn't a kid in sight. There are always a few "younger" Transformers (Cheetor, E-Ironhide, etc.) trying to prove themselves that I think kids could relate to just as well as human children.

I seriously do not like the inconsistencies in timelines/origins and lack of character development. I do not like how Unicron (who is suppose to be the ultimately evil in the TF universe) has so little character development. We should see more and hear about foreboding revelations in all series in the timeline that link up to the TF:TM, that an unknown event/character will force the TFs and their universe to the brink of extinction. The entire Armada series story-wise was IMO irrelevant and deviated way too much, so I am discounting it. I also do not care for how when the characters maintain the same names in the varying series, they do not use their personalities and/or memories from the previous series. That is something that annoys me since it would be nice to see further character development, especially considering how old many of the TFs are. It would also be nice to see them grow (so to speak). Additionally, I would like a definitive timeline to be established and if some of these series are alternative universes, then clarify it for the fans. On this note it would be incredibly ambitious for someone or a company to analyze all the differing series, in the USA and JP including anime, comics, manga, and toys, and create a chronological timeline/flowchart w/images. It would be better yet to find this accessible on the net. Lastly, in regards to the toy, I wish we the fans in other countries could buy directly from Takara and could ALSO participate in those damn exclusives and lucky draw contests with some of the best kickass prizes. :tdown

I wish you could make a TF series... Really. :roll

I know this post is got some critizism in it. But I mean are you affraid of something? I see people talking smack about TF Toys and there designs all the time on this forum. If you want I'll go get some quotes. I'll have about 10-20 of for ya' and I'm sure a lot of people here will agree.

But like I said What do you "NOT" like about TF's? There's always good posts, but this post is to actually steer inside you what you want out of Transformer. Its not to disgrace, well it is, but your just going to have to mature enough for it ok? Have you play Grand Theft Auto for the PS2? Which do you think is worse? Blowing people up or talking E-redical smack about something?

I don't like the Marvel comic from back in the day nor do I like some of the terrible cartoons after G1...for instance RID and Armada

Off-topic, but: I dig that artwork in your sig, dude!

On-topic: I don't like the way they misdrew the Decepticon symbol on Megatron's chest in his first scene in TF:TM. They connected the two bottom triangle bits to the rest of it, when everyone knows that they're clearly meant to be separate elements.

(That was the most nitpicky, fanboyish thing I could think of. But I'm sure I could be outdone.)

lol, what about the Ultra Magnus Matrix double-insert... that made little sense.

What I do not like is some of the repaints in Transformer toys. I just feel that Armada Starscream and Megatron's repaint is kind of lame. If Megatron wants to turn into Galvatron, that's fine, but why not change his entire form like during the G1 times? Anyone can imagine my horror when I bought Megatron back then and less than half a year later, the white tank entered the market. I felt so cheated. Similarly, Armada Overload = Energon Ultra Magnus is a very lame repaint, even though I like Ultra Magnus. Ultimately, these two are different robots so repaints just don't make sense.

Call me biased or whatever, but repaints of the same character across two different series is okay, since there are reasons to justify the repaints. I'm speaking of Unicron and Tidal Wave. Heh.

well, in japan, the repaint names makes more sense. Instead of giving the figure a new name, Takara adds super next to it. I think that's better than having megatron changing his name back and forth with every new coat of paint.

What I don't like about TFs is probably applicable for this year (hopefully). There's just too many separate lines for TFs. I mean just for this year, we have 4 different lines and that's not counting their Jap/US equivalents: Binaltech/Alternators, Energon/Superlink, G1 Collector Series/TF Collection, and the upcoming Robotmasters/Legends of Cybertron?. What's even worse is all the lines are pretty good, so they're extremely hard to resist buying (at least for a TF completist like me) :tflaugh
