Arguing that DW-WWI is somehow G1 but DW-G1 isnt.

The whole Infiltration unit idea for the TFs is so far beyond the DW stuff to me.

 

IDW's weaving what could be a really big TF universe tapestry that could continue to grow through it's own militaristic concepts and freshness, whereas the DW stuff felt very soap opera-y and like it was going to quickly peter out.

 

IMO, of course.

 

Now on to some people hating Sunstorm... everyone has to realize that Pete (and others) didn't read any of the new comics, so it's perfectly reasonable for him to not include Sunstorm in his G1 canon. His G1 remains pretty firmly rooted in the mid-80's, while some of the rest of us have happily chosen to expand along with the current G1 universe.

 

Either way is fine.

Also i still dont see why everyone thinks that the modern A/E/C crowd has to respect the original Seeker sanctity.

 

For them - Sunstorm is just as much as a real character as Skywarp ever was.

 

Well Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker deserve the respect for the reason you just mentioned. They are the ORIGINAL Seekers. The ones that helped to spawn all others; whose names and likeness have been passed down through many shows, toys, comics, etc...

 

You've got to respect that above a character that had one six-issue comic run, no matter what point you come into the fandom.

it's in MTMTE at the beginning... Starscream (sounding quite a lot like Thundercracker) says, "Autobots! Stop them!" ... um and then when Wheeljack and Bumblebee get out of the ring o' fire, one of the jets (sounding quite a lot like Megatron) says "AFTER THEM!"... and then when WJ/BB escape, one of them (again w/ Thundercracker's voice) says "They've gone underground; we'll never catch them now!" and another guy (with Skywarp's voice) says "We'd better report back to Megatron."

If they ever do release that purple generic jet, it should be female. Cos we really do need more female Decepticons - especially in G1. It's a robotic sausage-fest!

Yeah, I guess. Is he the guy that made the e-Hobby exclusive? Hauler and Sunstorm were both fanwank. Fanwank tantamount to e-Hobby making a slight color variation to a G1 Cyclonus and naming him Armada. Now, I don't mind it so much as an exclusive repaint toy, that, in my opinion is exactly what an exclusive repaint toy SHOULD BE.

 

My problem with Sunstorm is what Pat Lee and the rest of Dreamweave did with him.

what would have been cool is sunstorm being the cybertron equivelant of starscream. being the seeker commander of the generic guys while ss was away on earth. then give the generic guys some names. not making him a cloned phsycho god.

z4nd4r: Ichikawa did indeed write the character specs for Sunstorm, Hauler, Crosscut, Road Rage, Megaplex, Magnificus, Overcharge, Detritus, Clampdown, Nucleon Quest Convoy, the Story of Binaltech, etc etc etc. - you get the idea.

 

He also authored the "Cybertron Chronicles" comic for the last BotCon Japan and also numerous comics for exclusive DVD Microns et al. He's been involved in a lot of stuff. Ichikawa is one of the most respected Transfans in Japan because of his continuing contributions to Transfandom - especially after that BotCon Japan scandal which saw the death of BotCon Japan and saw a massive backlash from fans against Takara. (-_-)

 

Ichikawa is known to specifically target his work towards the hard core fans - which is why I love his work - a lot of his stuff you can't fully comprehend or appreciate unless you have a concise understanding and knowledge of Transformers lore. Look at all the cross-references in most of the e-Hobby characters he writes. And remember, he's writing these stories for:

+ Convention exclusive comics (now defunct)

+ Limited exclusive comics (included with items like DVD-exclusive Mini-Cons)

+ e-Hobby exclusive figures

+ Draw-prize exclusive figures

+ The Story of Binaltech

... in other words, all stuff that is produced in limited quantities and marketed at adult collectors. Also, the e-Hobby repaints come out after the standard ressiuen

 

In that context, the fan-fappage makes sense.

Hmm? No, no, I meant the Seekers on Earth. Two lavender ones actually have a bit of conversation after being shot at. It's one line or two, but still.

its all abut the toys with me:X the cartoons second, and its hard to get me to buy repaints anyway... sooo ummm yeah, but i did like the LoC Sunstorm, when i saw the pics of him...... i dont know, if they would have made the deluxe of the starscream mold in that color i probly would have got him if i found him, but mainly because i want that mold, and could never find one....
