UM isn't show accurate because Takara decided it was too expensive to engineer transforming armor and/or got lazy. SS's colors have nothing to do with laziness. They went out of their way to paint him the way they did, for whatever reason, and even "cared" enough to create a whole new mold, though many fans wish they hadn't. Whatever motivated to Takara to make SS the way they did had nothing in relation to their motivation for Magnus, which was just a quick and dirty repaint.

As for the safety standards, what's dangerous about it? Is the plastic too brittle to pass the drop test? I've heard some reports about cheap plastic being used, and I'm hoping the one we get ends up being a lot more durable.

What are you planning to do with it? MP Starscream is a display piece; he's not for children.

from what i've heard, i'd be afraid to tf him. it makes me kinda glad i didn't order him because i'd have deffinatly been disapointed. not to mention that if he won't pass the drop test, hasbro can't bring him over as they, for some reason, refuse to market towards adults instead of kids (seriously, wtf is up with this?).

but still he is teh awesome imo

This is the toy of the year the one toy you cant live without!!!! :clap

Watch me.

It's too drab. Realistic, maybe. But dull and uninteresting as far as colors go.

Yeah... mine isn't here yet (ordered from HLJ...) but from all the pics, he just looks unfinished. :tdown Personally, I think a lighter grey at least would have been MORE realistic, and more geewun accurate at the same time. And as for the blue on the chest, that's just a bonehead change for the sake of change, IMO. I'm assuming all those parts fold away, so why they couldn't have been red instead of blue makes no sense whatsoever.

If I had MP-04, I guarantee that box would not be the least messy spot in the house.

I've read your, "Boxes go in the trash" rule. :tfsad Takara's packaging is so pretty. It's so reusable too. THS Convoy's Trailer is still in there.

Not quite what I meant :tflaugh

It's hard to tell with you :tfhuh

He meant he would most likely spooge on the box.

At least I hope that's what he meant, otherwise I just had a totally unnecessary mental image that I would like to return for a full refund. :redface

Hey, I admit it's wishful thinking, but as I said in my earlier post, the quote I remember reading from Botcon was that many people would have no problem buying both versions (yes, I do remember them saying the same thing about Primus and I know how that turned out). Anyway, w/ the interest that the original proto is still generating, I don't think it is too much of a stretch to think it is at least a possibility. After all, just like w/ MP Prime, the people that really want an MP-SS have already bought the Takara version, so why buy the Hasbro version unless there are some serious changes (besides just colors). But time will tell I suppose.

EDIT: Yeah, UPS says it was delivered at 1:41. Woot woot. Got MP-SS waiting for me when I get home. Oh yeah.

It is too much of a stretch if for no other reason than the fact that the first proto never made it past the proto stage, hence there were no master molds made for that version. The only existing molds that would suit mass production are for the current version. I doubt Hasbro is going to go to all the trouble of having molds made up for what was deemed for some reason as an inferior design. (There could have been any number of structural problems in the first design that were not obvious in photos... we'll never know for sure WHY the changes were made.) It is, however, entirely a possibility that the US version would have some slight re-tooling (ala Prime's truncated smokestacks) for safety reasons, but be redeemed by a totally geewun paintjob... in which case I would gladly shell out up to another $50 for a Hasbro Starscream, and paint my Takara one into a Thundercracker or Skywarp. :thumb

I'm planning to transform it without breaking anything, and it would be nice if it could survive a fall, should something go awry.

:tflaugh better late than never

By the way, what was the reason for making a not show accurate Starscream? :tfhuh

The same reason MP-02 isn't show-accurate.

uh?

It doesn't make sense. :tfhuh

They are different figures, so you think that Starscream isn't show accurate because UM is white? WTF :wtf

If you don't know, UM is a white Prime with an armor, at least MP-02 is a white Prime but Starscream...

Pretty wrong answer. :tflaugh

Please point me to the episode where Magnus was white prime and didn't have armor in robot mode. kthx+1

Show accuracy stopped at MP-02, since there was no white Prime in any show.

Yea. The toy might be a white prime in armor, but in previous media before DW, magnus was alawys just the armor. He wasn't a darn prime clone.

I shall not be buying MP-3 now. After hearing yhe plastic problems. I like playing with my toys.

I have to chime in and say I don't know how he'd handle the drop test, but after paying $99.99 ($108. w/ shipping)I'm not planning on throwing him or dropping him on the floor to find out....SS does feel very sturdy when in bot mode, and I think it's the jet mode that would have more issues from a fall anyways...

Here's another favorite of mine...I can't express how cool it is to have the 2 sided face for him...
