Movie Megatron?

Recommended Posts

As I've said before, abandon ALL hope. The movie is ruined already. :( I'll still go see it, but it'll feel like a funeral for the franchise.

something that makes the "franchise" tons of dough and puts it back in the mainstreme does not equal a "funeral"

So, you already know this movie will be a runaway success and make alot of money. Trying to dispute an extreme view by using another extreme view is humerous. Hopefully you can see the irony in what you posted.

july 4th movies don't have a history of doing poorly.

And Transformers don't have a history of looking like a Terminator, Bionicle, Spawn Interlink love child. Just being on the 4th doesn't guarantee it a big payday. The movie needs to do well if we are to see a 2nd and 3rd installment.

Transformers also don't have a history of being on the big screen as "live action" either, but I guess most people are ignoring that fact.

This is the one thing I haven't been able to completely grasp. Why does a transformer need to look like that to be considered "realistic." To me, they look "man made." Better question is why is Hollywood so in love with robots being designed like this that this is the only way they can be made. This concept isn't new, it's just new when applied to TFormers. I look forward to the days Hollywood gets away from the robotic endoskeletal look and actually come up with a new concept.

Um, because the old cartoon had a tendency to make the characters look like humans wearing robot suits.

And these look more realistic? You've got to be kidding me. I"m sick of everything being "reimagined". YOu know what, when people say that, they should be legally required to have an asterik to the side that says, lame excuse to turn something people are familiar with into a pile of crap because we like to stroke our own egos. I think its pretty much guaranteed this is going to do well financially, most of Bays other films have. Does that mean there good? No, far from it. Why is it I think this movie should be called Guyver vs. Battlefield Earth?

Sick of? Don't you realize that this is the first attempt at a Transformers live action movie and you're already condemning it? :wtf

I"m condeming the "reimaging" part of it. It might be a fine movie, who knows, I'll go watch it. I"m saying look at what history has taught us. This means Bay's past movies, the formula that he employs, the fact that a good part of tf fans and more general public that vaguely remembers the franchise. I showed the designs of Prime, Starscream and Megatron to my coworker who remembered the show, and if his reaction from a person with a casual remembrance of the show/line is any indication, maybe theres something to it. Again, maybe I"m completely wrong, all I know is whats happend before. Reimaginings rarely work out very well.

Did you actually read what I posted? What does the G1 cartoon have to do with Hollywood's obsession with endoskeletal robotic designs? I may be in the minority, but does noone else think a robotic life form wouldn't have found a way to cover exposed wires and hydraulics from damage after fighting each other for millions of years. I just think they have a "man made mecha" look to them.

Agreed.

Nobody accepts an incarnation of Megatron that lacks,at minimum, a fricking huge arm cannon.

Nobody?

I love the movie designs, but I at least understand the backlash about Starscream and Prime. Megs is the only one that shouldn't be expected to stand on tradition. Why all the hate?

over at the main forum i post at, the general reply to every movie design has been "WTF?!". even people that are realy familiar with tf's from g1 to cybertron are wtf-ing.

theres a total of 1 guy that thinks it's awsome lol, but yea he's a total mech head.

And these are the figures that you immediately think of when someone says the name Megatron???? I don't know about you, but I hear Megatron, I think the classic, 1984 G1 Megs, automatically. I am willing to bet that if the general public remembers who Megs is, then that is the incarnation that they picture as well. Not this other weird... thing. But who knows, maybe in another 20 yrs the '07 movie will be the most recognizable Megatron ever. It could happen.

Cool design, way cool design but I have a hard time imagining that much of Megatron's character will remain intact with an appearance like that.

Is there some new Guyver movie that's being made? Because I think this "Megatron" might have been stolen from that movie's design team.
