Movie Megatron?

Recommended Posts

Whose idea was it to 're-imagine the franchise'? The franchise was fine as it was! Didn't Halle Berry's Catwoman 're-imagine the franchise'? This thing sucks! I was going to be upset with Megatron as a tank! Hopefully he'll take on an earth mode and this is just from cybertron. I still say they should have just taken the 'more than meets the eye' miniseries and filmed that! Copying the source material EXACTLY worked just fine for Sin City!!! And if you have to change stuff do it for the better like Spidey's natural webs vs. web fluid. This is just change for changes sake and they're all ridiculous.

Yes, I'll go see it once as will everyone who's posted here. But movies rely on RETURN business something I'm sure this movie won't get. What it will get is a 60% drop off after opening weekend.

I dont wanna say anything bad about the movie but WTF!? Starscream at least looks like a Transformer. This thing. ARGH! I want to see this movie now! I have a feeling it's not gonna feel like Transformers and more like a movie with Transforming robots in it. like Episode 1 and it's ball attack droid thingies

seriously, you guys sound like a bunch of fanboys... oh yeah... that's right :roll

So, if the movie is a success, will you naysayers admit it was a good idea to use these designs?

If the movie fails, will the supporters admit that it was a mistake to use these new designs?

I guess we'll find out in a year.

Great example of why these discussions turn to flamefests. A bunch of people stating opinions has no "right or wrong" answer. I hate the new designs, but I hope the movie does well. Don't like the two toy protos we've seen, but I hope they sell well. I have never figured out why people take someone's opinion so personally. We are talking about children's toys...right? A stated fact can be right or wrong, an opinion is just someone's thoughts on a subject.

now their just Powerglideing about, surely ? ... please ? starscream is great, blackout/incinerator is incredible, prime could be awesome if tweaked before prduction, bumblebee is reasonable but this thing is just horrible, theres no resemblance to anything to do with the transformers, i can see the reasoning for having the cons as almost insect like and evil etc. but their taking the piss with megs.

:tflaugh

*quickly turns tables*

Alright mr.laid-back. What if those designs were for "Hot Rod" and not "Megatron". How would you feel then?? Seriously? How??

You have to admit to not expecting this monster to be Megs. *Maybe you have. I'm not reading back 9 pages*

Which old franchise? BM? G1? G2?

Take your pick. Were someone to show me this without telling me it was a Transformer. I would never guess it was related to any of the lines.

Not that I don't like the design, its freaking out there. I am not sure about it being appropriate for Megatron. Whatever the reason for the look, they could have added something as a visual queue to who he should be.

I agree. ANd I'm sorry, BM is not an "old" franchise, 10 years isnt old as far as I'm concerned. As for what I think of this pile of garbage, well doesn't matter, its not the transformers I grew up with and loved or anything even closely resembling it. As I've said time and time before, change just for the sake of change is ridiculous and Im sure those of you that continue to love any and everything regardless of how stupid looking or completely off of the "transformers" concept, well I'm very happy for all of you. The only TF I've seen that looks even slightly passable is Prime and I"m not to keen on that.

As I've said before, abandon ALL hope. The movie is ruined already. :( I'll still go see it, but it'll feel like a funeral for the franchise.

something that makes the "franchise" tons of dough and puts it back in the mainstreme does not equal a "funeral"

So, you already know this movie will be a runaway success and make alot of money. Trying to dispute an extreme view by using another extreme view is humerous. Hopefully you can see the irony in what you posted.

july 4th movies don't have a history of doing poorly.

And Transformers don't have a history of looking like a Terminator, Bionicle, Spawn Interlink love child. Just being on the 4th doesn't guarantee it a big payday. The movie needs to do well if we are to see a 2nd and 3rd installment.

Transformers also don't have a history of being on the big screen as "live action" either, but I guess most people are ignoring that fact.

This is the one thing I haven't been able to completely grasp. Why does a transformer need to look like that to be considered "realistic." To me, they look "man made." Better question is why is Hollywood so in love with robots being designed like this that this is the only way they can be made. This concept isn't new, it's just new when applied to TFormers. I look forward to the days Hollywood gets away from the robotic endoskeletal look and actually come up with a new concept.

So, if the movie is a success, will you naysayers admit it was a good idea to use these designs?

If the movie fails, will the supporters admit that it was a mistake to use these new designs?

I guess we'll find out in a year.

The word success is a very relative term. If you mean financially, there is no way this movie is going to tank. Everyone here is going to see the movie to discover if it sucks as bad as they think it will or to see if it is as awesome as they think it is. The studio will make it's money and Hasbro will reap the benefits. If you mean success in the fan approval sense, the movie has already failed in many respects for some of us.
