Movie Megatron?

Recommended Posts

So, if the movie is a success, will you naysayers admit it was a good idea to use these designs?

If the movie fails, will the supporters admit that it was a mistake to use these new designs?

I guess we'll find out in a year.

The word success is a very relative term. If you mean financially, there is no way this movie is going to tank. Everyone here is going to see the movie to discover if it sucks as bad as they think it will or to see if it is as awesome as they think it is. The studio will make it's money and Hasbro will reap the benefits. If you mean success in the fan approval sense, the movie has already failed in many respects for some of us.

We'll know in a year for sure won't we?

It does make me wonder what people were expecting, though. Like, specifically.

g2 megs with g1 megs colorscheme an arm canon.

Oh yes, that is what I am talking about!!!! Well said sir.

Agreed. Just seems to me Megs being a tank of mass destruction would have made much more sense.

he dosesnt look anything like a megatron..what references are they useing. the only person that looks anything familier is prime....just have to wait and see him in the movie

As I've said before, abandon ALL hope. The movie is ruined already. :( I'll still go see it, but it'll feel like a funeral for the franchise.

something that makes the "franchise" tons of dough and puts it back in the mainstreme does not equal a "funeral"

So, you already know this movie will be a runaway success and make alot of money. Trying to dispute an extreme view by using another extreme view is humerous. Hopefully you can see the irony in what you posted.

july 4th movies don't have a history of doing poorly.

And Transformers don't have a history of looking like a Terminator, Bionicle, Spawn Interlink love child. Just being on the 4th doesn't guarantee it a big payday. The movie needs to do well if we are to see a 2nd and 3rd installment.

Transformers also don't have a history of being on the big screen as "live action" either, but I guess most people are ignoring that fact.

This is the one thing I haven't been able to completely grasp. Why does a transformer need to look like that to be considered "realistic." To me, they look "man made." Better question is why is Hollywood so in love with robots being designed like this that this is the only way they can be made. This concept isn't new, it's just new when applied to TFormers. I look forward to the days Hollywood gets away from the robotic endoskeletal look and actually come up with a new concept.

Um, because the old cartoon had a tendency to make the characters look like humans wearing robot suits.

C'mon Hot Rod....I even got you some reference art...

If I were going to make a movie based on Transformers (and this is just my opinion)

this is how I'd weigh my options:

A. Either base the look on the show with slight updates, but recognizable enough to instill nostalgia among the fans, and change very little in what makes the formula work. If it made a fanbase, then it shouldn't alienate them. Should pull in some good money.

B. Do what Tristar did with Godzilla: throw out any recognizability, and redesign characters in grotesque-alien-ish designs (cuz' it's cool and hip) disregard what makes visuals appealing. Add some B to C-list actors on the same level as Matthew Broderick, and stir. Then as a movie producer, get on line and tell the pure-ists that first the leaked designs are not final and then to go "stick it" or "Go away" when they are revealed to be true(like Dean Devlin did) and to just except it. Sit back and wait for a hit. Then watch all the merchandise pile up in bargain bins at all the local KayBee stores!

Option B it is!!!!
