At least we're being pretty civil about it over here. I've been following the TFW boards and I swear to god if I hear the words "godzilla," "waspinator," "Gorillascream," or any combination thereof one more time, I'm going to start slapping people's mothers :)

Maybe one day, Transformers will get their own Christopher Nolan who will actually make a good Transformers movie. Perhaps there might be one who takes all that is good from the history of Transformers and makes a good, fan-friendly movie.

by your reasoning, Batman Begins should have sucked because the batmobile was given a major re-imaging, nevermind that it was the writing that made the movie good.

There is some precendent for Batman using an existing vehicle for his Batmobile. In the book, Batman: Night Cries, by Andrew Vachss, he uses a modified Masseratti. It is also not unreasonable to assume that Batman has done something similar with the many Batmobiles that he has had in the comics. Just because the movie Batmobile didn't have bat wings on it, doesn't make it any less of a Batmobile.

Batman Begins respects and draws from past Batman stories and many aspects of the character and his world that fans enjoy. Gotham City, for instance, was clearly influenced by way Gotham looks in the modern day comics. Bruce Wayne's journey to the East in order to train in the martial arts has it's origin in the comics and it was also covered on the much loved animated series. Furthermore, having an actor who actually looks like he could, physically, be Batman, in costume and out of costume, helped the movie a great deal. All of this, and other things, combined to make a widely accepted Batman movie.

This Transformers movie, save for Peter Cullen and a few characters, has no respect for the past. They didn't even look at the work of modern day Transformers artists. Aside from Pat Lee, many of today's artists do consider the transfomation process in their designs, but seek a balance with a clean design. These movie Transformers are far too busy looking in their design. There is no sleekness to them. They are giant endoskeletons. (I sure hope Kyle Reese isn't in the movie. He could take them all out with a few pipebombs.)

i'm officialy not buying any of these.

Oh yes you are. You will go so nuts, you'll be standing in the isle, pretending to read some Gundam toy, and when a kid comes along and picks up one of these new wonders, you will go nuts, pick up the kid, wrench the toy out of his hands, and toss the poor lad into the bicycle isle. Yes you will go so crazy over these things, you will single-handedly be the #1 TF Scalper in your town, buying all the TFs you can find, and sell them at insanely high prices out of the back of a Gremlin in the parking lot of a medium-sized convenience store at 3 in the morning on a Tuesday.

Oh God, just think of the chaos that will ensue once the first sighting of these comes out on the boards. Fanboys everywhere will up and leave their desks, walk out of their jobs and not return for 2 days, or until they have searched every store in their town numerous times and/or found every figure. It will be sheer bedlam.

(oh and when I refer to "they" above, I also mean me :D ).

to this i give a huge MEH.

less compitition on ebay for meeeeeeeeeeee and i'm depending on some of you desprate Powerglides to liquidate pieces of your collections on here to be able to fit these guys in your collections.... maybe these guys are going to be worth something :mwahaha

the difference between Batman and TF's is that Batman has been around continuously for 50 years in a form that is easily recognizible. Transformers are always changing their overall design asthetic and no one series lasts more than a few years at most. if modern tf's were using the same design asthetic as the first year G1 toys and they were still in the same continuity, then i could see a stronger historical foundation to base the movie tf's on. as it is, tf's started out as robots disguised as realistic vehicles/appliances. then came season 2 and suddenly, some tf's are transforming into mechanical beasts and others are combining into a giant robot. then came season 3 and suddenly, everyone has fancy futuristic forms. then came the powermasters, headmasters, triggermasters, tf's transforming into giant forts and others hiding in organic shells. then everyone shrank down into micromachines or just plain gave up transforming altogether. then came G2 and everyone has crazy-ass neon color schemes and some robots get articulation while others remain as bricks. then there was a gap followed by tf's transforming into beasts, then mechanical beasts, then beasts with mechanical patches, beasts that were a fusion of two seperate animals, and finally, beasts that were techno-organic who fought tf's that were purly mechanical with very few humanoid features.

my point is that there is very little conformity when it comes to tf history. the only major exception is Prime and they've already covered that base.

So what? Transformers, in general, has always had nice looking robot modes. Even Beast Machines had nice looking designs. The endoskeletons that they are using for the movie are not like anything that's ever been done. The way these movie Transformers look is exactly what I feared they would look like.

boo. Powerglideing. hoo.

every toy line since armada has been one big fandom splooge fest for G1. I think this movie has the potential to revive the property like BW did back in the 90s. You know, when they had no respect for the past because they turned into animals.

Let me make this clear. I just don't want the movie Transformers to look like giant, freaky endoskeletons. That's all. I don't want a movie version of a G1 cartoon or comic book. I just don't want the Transformers to be so damn ugly. That is all.

People like you need to stop assuming the worst of people like me, just because we are not bowing down in praise for this movie.

blackout is totaly sick, prime is sweet, bumblebee pwns! gunna get prime and bumblebee!
