KOs never count as Transformers, no matter how you look at them.

And when comparing collection counts, they are a cheap and unfair way of boosting your collection numbers.

If you wanna go waste your money on KOs, go ahead and be my guest. But don't go counting them as Transformers. Count them for what they are - KOs.

I don't mind having afew funky coloured KO Micrmaster combiners. They look nice

I own a lot of KOs, but I don't mix them with G1 stuff.  I'm too afraid of a KO connector breaking off inside the G1 piece.

I have two knockoffs in my collection. One is the Combaticon KO set on my RID shelf because he came with the yellow parts that the Hasbro version didn't and looks really good allowing me have the real ones separated.

Then I've got one of those super cool Beast Machines Primal KOs on my "leader shelf" because he's the most show accurate version  of the character there is (even if he isn't 100% color accurate).

So I have no problem with using a KO if it's a unique representation or used to complement the real figure, but not as a replacement. I have a lot of other Transformers KOs, but they'll go on my KO shelf, not my Transformers shelves.

I always find this veiw amusing.  Having a huge collection is bragging rights for some people, I understand that, but honestly what the hell does it matter if you have 10 Tfs or 1000.  If you enjoy them thats all that matters.

I only buy authentic, original stuff, but if you like KO's, that's cool.

No matter how low the price is, I can never bring myself to buy G1 knock-offs. They're just so cheap looking.  It just doesn't feel right.

KO's are good for filler, whether you're waiting to complete an authentic one, or you just want the filler w/o actually wanting to go out and get the real deal.  It's whatever you want.

That being said however, the KO Aerialbots are slightly smaller than the authentic versions, and the KO Protectobots are slightly oversized.  So while the feet & fists may work to mix, the combiner chest parts will not fit authentic G1's.  Also, KO Stunticon parts are 1:1, but the peg in one foot is off, and the KO "Dragon Fighter" Terrorcons Hun-Grr & combiner pieces are smaller, while the KO "5-in-1 Monster" Terrorcons are 1:1 for all parts/pieces.  KO Constructicons are 1:1.

Because counting KOs as Transformers is wrong and unfair. As you said, collection sizes = bragging rights.

If one fan owns the original G1 Defensor, and another fan owns a KO G1 Defensor - you can see that it's an unfair comparison. The second fan does not own G1 Defensor, s/he owns "Fireeninebot" or something equally lame in name. In other words, s/he owns a KO. Or imagine if one fan owns all six original Constructicons, and another fan owns five, but gets a KO version of the 6th one they need and then claims that they own a complete G1 Devastator. No they don't. And you can see how by claiming that their G1 Devastator is complete is unfair to the other fan who actually has all six original Constructicons.

If a fan wants to collect KOs, fine - but they should be listed and counted separately from Transformers - because they are NOT Transformers. Hell, Pre-Transformers technically don't count as Transformers and they're legally licensed products. For example, I don't own Reflector - but I do own the Micro Change Camera Robos. Except for the stickers, they look exactly the same as the Transformers Reflector robots. I will happily display them with my Transformers (although I would never display a KO with my Transformers - part of this reason is that although pre-TFs aren't TFs, they are still legit toys) but I do NOT count them as Transformers and none of the Reflector units appear in my text listing of TFs.

Above: on the bottom left you can see my "Camera Robo" toys, which look identical to Reflector, but whilst I will happily display them with my TFs I do not count them as Transformers.

A Transformer = official product made under licence from Hasbro/Takara and sold as a "Transformer" action figure. Camera Robo is made under official licence from Takara, but was sold as a Micro Change toy, not a Transformer.

KOs are seldomly sold as "Transformers" - and none of them are produced under licence from Hasbro/Takara.
