Why i Dont like G1

Recommended Posts

Repaints are NOT exclusive to G1. Go Bots were well-known for it's repaints of figures. (just HOW many Leader-1 and Cy-Kill versions do we need?)

Long time reader, first time poster.

You are in severe error here.

Of the 140+ GoBots figures released from 1983 to 1987, there have been exactly 4 repaints. Well, technically 5 if you count mail away exclusives. Courageous had Grungy, there were two Boomer clones, and the Creepy mail away could glow in the dark.

Leader1 and CyKill had exactly ONE repaint each, 40+ figures into the line. The Super GoBot versions were totally different and larger molds. So please stop spreading such fallacy across our fandom.

Also, I'd like the idiocy that is "GeeWun" to cease. You demean not only those of us who do appreciate G1 but also yourselves.

PS - G1, apparently unbeknownst to the previous poster, had relatively few straight repaints. The 3 original Seeker jets, assorted cassettes, and 3rd year minibots are the only ones that come to mind. Everyone else, from Ramjet and Hoist to Stepper and Soundblaster, had remolded parts. Not bad for 9 years huh?

Especially compared with Armada, which has a small handful of figures that escaped a repaint (Wheeljack, Laserbeak, err...) and several more that've had a third (SuperPants Prime and friends, Sideswipe, Thrust, Hotshot, Supercon Prime, Red alert, Starscream, etc)...

Please tell me that you know that the first couple years of G1 were all repaints from Takara's Diaclone line.

And what do you mean by this?

he means he wants people to stop saying geewun, i took my turn at this gripe too, but most of the people on this board are too obsessed with their anti-g1 sentiments to do that

I stand corrected.

"Speading fallacy?' Sorry. I made a mistake. all part of being human, you know.

Yes, however, the facts that...

1. Diaclone/Microman was moderately successful in Japan (not US).

2. Takara's US version was aborted after about 4 figures.

3. It has very little to do with the TransFormers as a brand.

4. And half the toys weren't even repainted for TFs in 1984.

...tends to outweigh those circumstances by and large.

If it wasn't made apparent previously, "Church of GeeWun" and the like are insulting on a number of levels and sound, frankly, about as moronic as "TRUKK NOT MUNKY" - We're all fans of TF in some way and attitudes slogans like that project is definitely not in our best interest as a community.

True. But those "slogans" are with us forever more.

And if people have fun with those slogans, as long as they aren't shoving G1 down anyone's throats, then i fail to see the harm in it.

my problem is when someone uses a slogan, or ANYTHING, to shove ANYTHING down someone's throat. NOBODY should be doing that. Live and let live?

well, Im am tired of seeing the name 'G1'

its the single most overused word, and its becoming an eye sore.

how about 'first series', or any other alternate way of saying it.

it was never called "G1" back in the day, so as a kid from that era, its always kinda odd to hear it constantly and mind numbingly refered to it as that, in that retcon way.

So, people like me, would rather call it GeeWun, taking a slightly, if humorous jab at the section of fandom that has used the other term ad nausea.

Its not the first series called "The Transformers" that poeple are making fun here, is the retcon over emphasis on the misnomer term, G1, and the fact that some of us are going insane hearing fans insessiantly use that word.

Its like the kid brother that keeps poking you in the car. After a while you get numb to it, but then, your arm starts to bleed in that same spot.

(note, this post is neither reflective twards the first series in any way. Just fandom's reaction to it, and this fans belief, that one term or word, if repeated enough times, can drive the entire human race insane.)

:)

"Church of GeeWun"

Hey, i made that term!!!! you have been reading my posts again, arnt you?

Hehe, I started a fad.

Cool.

*sits back and smiles*

"TRUKK NOT MUNKY"

And for my next trick, I hereby commission the phrase "Trukk, Not Champion of Primus".
