Why i Dont like G1

Recommended Posts

As an "Original series" transformer fan, the things I disliked about The original series transformers are nitpicky things. Name calling like "Decepticreep" and "Megabum", always made me cringe. Some stories like, "The girl who loved Powerglide", and other way-out-there episodes. It was also sickining to see a lazer blast hit with a baseball bat(Transport to oblivion). Season three characters such as Blurr and Wheelie made the show sickining beyond belief. Another little nitpick is that some toys never made it to the show, although "The original series" suffered the least from this, it seemed like a waste to create toys like Overdrive, Camshaft, and Downshift. Anywho, just little things to me, miscolouring and animation errors never bothered me so, there we have it.

I agree. There were some really gay(silly) things that happened in the G1 universe. But those things shouldn`t make G1 any less valid as a whole. Sometimes we as people need to overlook the little things so that we can enjoy them that much more.

We really shouldn`t over-analyze things like cartoons or comics too much also. Takes the fun out of it, and for others too. JMO :)

yeah, i agree with you.

There were some straight (silly) things in it, as in all the series.

:lol :lol :lol

I don't hate G1, but purists really turn me off, because they practically closed their minds to new things. Some purists are also very immature and act like trolls insulting and bashing everyone else who doesn't share their opinion. Thankfully, this has been dramatically decreased since most TF fandom forums and sites allow only registered members, so very few trolls I actually get through.

Another side of G1 purists that I don't like is their glorification of G1, as if it was God's gift to mankind. They say how perfect the TV series are and how it's the best toyline in the world and absolutely flawless. Give me a break, and take off your nostalgia glasses once in a while.

A reason why it seems that G1 purists seem to be rather silent nowadays that the ones that are mature and intelligent enough have realized that they don't really add anything new to these forums if they just keep posting about G1, or criticizing the newer toys that they'll never going to buy anyway. I wished the G1 purist trolls would realize that.

G1 is far from perfect but it was very good for its time. I enjoyed the show as a kid, but I have no idea if I would share the same sentiment now since my criteria for quality and fun has changed since then. A lot of cartoons I like back them look so ridiculous now, so G1 might be like that also. I like the toys too, but I would not deny that the more recent toylines are much, much better.

so what im getting is that pretty much everyone likes g1, it is just these "purists" that used to hang around that everyone doenst like

that about right?

Perhaps, but what about people who saif things like "gee i dunno what do you like of such retarded bricks". I know everyone's entilted to an opinion but flamong a fan cause he likes a brick is not politically correct

:mwahaha Sorry if I offended you sweetpants!

G1's ok, I grew up with that, but even then I could see all it's flaws. TF's improved over the years and there is no real great line, each one has it's good and bad points. I'm sure that if Energon was shown back in the 80s, that would be considered old by now.

We all agree that most don't have a problem with the first series, just the militants who shove it down people's throats. We have pro-G1 millitants who aggresively bash everything but G1, and Anti-G1 millitants who bash nothing but G1.

I think that it is safe to say that both extremes are causing a great deal of havoc in TFans, as well as other sites. Being extreme in ANYTHING causes one to lose any sort of perspective on any subject, and can give someone a bad case of tunnel vision. it doesn't allow for any other points of view, and denies any type of growth. Pro-G1 millitants may fear that if they don't aggresively promote G1, it may become lost, while Anti-g1 militants fear that if they don't just as aggresively oppose G1, everything will stagnate and be a constant rehash of the first series.

Unfortunately, all both sides are serving to do is to rip apart the world of transformers, and cause a great deal of strife amongst us. I think the best thing we can do in this case is to simply ignore the militants, and give them no audience to speak to. having a different opinion from everyone else is fine; ramming that opinion down someone else's gullet ISN'T.

Thoughts, everyon?

oh your cool. Im not heated in any way.

while my viewpoint i have had about the name retconed onto the series WAY after the fact, and its total overuse...

all my posts here, are made with a smile, and a smartass heart.

And if someone's not picked up on that yet, they're just not paying attention.

On topic, why WOULD anyone thoroughly dislike G1? It's like saying you love Rock and Roll but you can't stand musicians like Chuck Berry. Even if you won't actively go seek it out, you'd still have to recognize the originality and what it's meant to the rest of the series'.

Lots of fans got uber-pissed about a "techno-organic" Cybertron, the Oracle and Transmorphers (not the least of which being the 100% organic TF in my avatar/sig). And then when RiD came along, they were all like, "this is what TFs should be" because it was a lot more like G1.

have you been reading my mind :eek
