TF KOs @ Retail Stores *MERGED*

Recommended Posts

Stuff like this belongs in the Toy discussion forum, but I'm sure someone will move it. No worries and welcome.

KO's just pop up at random, just keep checking up local toystores.

finding ko's is tough sometimes. just gotta keep up looking. check flea markets, yard sales, boot sales, and swap meets as those are great places to find KO's as well.

They have BOOT SALES in the US? Aint that just a carjacking?

:07evil

no, i've just heard the term used by uk members and i googled it to see if it's the same thing as a yard/garage sale, and it's a little different so i decided to use it as well seeing as how the OP is from the uk :P

have you got a shop near you called 'Price Right'? It's a ghetto brik-a-brak shop where all the pikeys go... but they have RM/MW KOs for £1.49! I have a couple in my local area (Bognor Regis and Chichester in West Sussex). I've found shops like that to be good for KOs... as well as carboot sales

I have loads I'll be getting rid off when I've finished moving house. Could be a couple of months away though. :(

Welcome Robotsidekick! A fellow Yorkshire man like myself!

KOs are virtually non-existant in England let alone Yorkshire. Some larger cities may have them, but I can't think of an occasion when I've come across a KO in England. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places!

If you're ever in the south of the County try the Poundlands and Poundstretchers in places like Sheffield and Chesterfield. They recently stocked the KO Robot Masters and oversized Minicon KOs. The toys are pretty poor quality but perfectly fine for display or kitbash - the weapons are pretty accurate and can be used to arm authentic TFs.

My KO Robot Masters Screamer is excellent, he has his proper weapons and the light in his chest works perfectly, not bad for a quid.

KO Tfs in general are difficult to get a hold of. especially the good ones. The main problems you are facing are:

1. Extremely Short Productions Runs

2. Crappy distribution

So there you have it. Often times a mold will be reused every so often. Again the good ones that look like the original or some of the unique ones that are genuinely good are hard to come by. good luck on your hunt.

Found a huge rack full of these guys at a Big Lots store. There were several different versions, yellow and red cabs with all sorts of attachments on the back. There were dump trucks, cement mixers, cranes, etc. I picked up one yellow and one red, choosing a backside that had "OPTIMUS" stickers (very G2!) and took them home.

The good:

Plastic quality is much better than most KOs I have seen. There are actually decent paint apps, and the stickers are not slopped on and overhanging the plastic at all. The crane moves up and down and extends, and the dumnp truck, well, dumps. Emergency Lights have been molded onto the cab as well. All of the detail from the real toy is there. They were quite cheap at $2.50, also.

The bad:

Bendy Prime isn't very bendy anymore! The transformation has been simplified, leaving the fists uncovered and the legs too long in alt mode. Also, the grill has been molded in, leaving the chest rather empty looking (you can see the same molding changes as in the Nemesis Prime version). The extra kibble on the backside makes it very hard to pose. The shoulders are quite loose.

All in all, recommended if you are a fan of the mold.
