Transformers: The Religion

Recommended Posts

Ok My Wife just Got Home from her Job with the Census. I asked her about this Transformers religion thing and her comments were this: "The Census Doesn't give a Rats Behind what religion you are just needs to know what number of people live in your home" So you could Put "Church Of Flaming Lavender Power Ranger Cronies" and they wouldn't care the least. So pray to who you wish. But remember the same things you are calling people out on in this thread is the exact thing you are doing by trying to push you Religion ideas on us.

OH GOD (whichever one you want), WHY?!?!?! Anytime someone uses the 'R' word (not as in Toys 'R' Us) on the interwebs, everyone goes a little nuts. Thought I may be joining up with "Church Of Flaming Lavender Power Ranger Cronies", sounds like my kind of fun. What kind of kool-aid do they serve? I hope it's the one that turns your tongue blue ;)

I couldn't stop laughing reading through these posts. Some people take themselves and these things too seriously.

Believe what you want, or don't, just chill eh, that's all I'm saying. I hope your little Primus church thing goes well.

I came here from Canada, and they say I'm slow, eh....

I have neither been taking this thread seriously nor slandering the TF Faith. I am true to the idea of religious acceptance and I'm smacking my mighty dong of "HAHA! YOU WERE WROOOOOONG!" in the faces of everyone who believes that religious tolerance is impossible and that religion is the root of all evil*. I mean, how can they believe in something so stupid and fucked up? It just blows my mind and angers me. It makes me want to hold... An Unexpected Inquisition**.

*Well, it kind of is, with Satan and all, but that's not my point.

** :tflaugh

This whole thing is pretty much just for laughs anyway. I doubt anybody would take it seriously. Ok, I know some people could, but I'm holding out on humor.

^ How dare you mock the TF religion by calling it a joke! One of its main tenets is to be humorous, but the religion itself is not s joke!

:tfevil

I have faith in hilarity!

I don't see how the Transformers Faith is any more or less valid than any other religion. To paraphrase Bertrand Russell:

If I were to suggest that the Transformers, Cybertron and Primus were real, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that they were beyond the perception of current science. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such the Transformers were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.

A little too serious aren't we? This is the kind of thing we should be making fun of, not endorsing.

Why be so unkind? Unlike some other religions, nobody has yet been persecuted, harmed or killed in the name of the Transformers Faith. Search my post history - IIRC I have never mocked anyone else's religion. I would kindly appreciate being shown the same respect that I've shown to others. Thank you.

All of that is fine and dandy.. but your forgetting something. Transformers were not recorded in such a manner. It's just a cheaply produced, 80s cartoon show to sell Takara's floundering Diaclone line in america.

.. seriously dude, I think it's time you found something else to do with your time. If you want to believe, this really should of been something you keep to yourself. It's a little creepy.

What do you mean by "cheaply produced, 80s cartoon show to sell Takara's floundering Diaclone line in america"? Where have you been in the last 25 years?

As for the topic itself, I don't think it's creepy, If anything it's almost disturbing. (Almost) Even so, it's a free country man. We can do what we want, and how we want to. We can say what we want, and how we want to. (At leat for this topic.) I can say that this is a great idea, I can say that this is stupid idea, I can say that this good for a few laughs, I can say that this topic is so bad, it's not even funny, but what I will say is that you believe in what you want to believe and I will do the same.

whereas most religions believe in a higher being that created us. TFerology is one in where we clearly created transformers. Does that make us the gods?? Somehow I think all of our toys are going to burn in haydes.

My toys wont burn with me, they'll be tucked (stuffed) neatly away in my coffin.

Actually I told my wife and siblings that they must continue the collection and buy all figures that I wouldve bought, post on Tformers, and complete my list of wants/needs. Also to occasionally dust, tinker, rearrange and play with them.

Everyone looked at me weird and I said, "Im fuckin serious."

Because I was :P

@Victor Prime, I think you take not being serious a little too seriously XD

@ sgt_york, you blew my mind!

Church Of Flaming Lavender Power Ranger Cronies

That's what I'm putting!

And for all you haters saying it's too crazy, as an atheist, I could say the same about your religion.

So go freedom of religon!

Why be so unkind? Unlike some other religions, nobody has yet been persecuted, harmed or killed in the name of the Transformers Faith. Search my post history - IIRC I have never mocked anyone else's religion. I would kindly appreciate being shown the same respect that I've shown to others. Thank you.

Every religion in the world gets mocked, some more than others (some deal with it better than others too, but I won't name names). You have the right to believe in anything you want, but you don't have the right to ask others to respect it. It's that silly ol' freedom o' speech. Don't know if you have it in Australia, but it's front and center in the Bill o' Rights for us Yankees.

No one may have been killed by members (or is that 'member') of your faith, but the 'gods' you worship have indeed killed people through wanton destruction, and if some of them had their way humanity would live as slaves. Of course, one may say something to the effect of "it's only in the movies/cartoons/comics that people have died" but then that begs the question of just how much of the TF world one wants to believe in. Does one believe that alien transforming robots exist, but then deny the only representations we have of them on earth, i.e. movies/cartoons/comics, or does one accept all of it?

Also, what benefit does one get from believing it? From Christianity, as an example, one gets forgiveness/salvation/eternal life. I don't know much about other religions, but from what I can tell, they offer grace for your soul in the afterlife.

Optimus Prime can't do that, and has never claimed to. Optimus died, alright, but it wasn't for the sins of humanity, and if one wants to claim he was resurrected, well, wasn't he resurrected by the Quintessons? So wouldn't they be the true 'gods'? And they created TF's in order to create a race of slaves. Is that really who you want to worship?

A set of religious beliefs has to be more involved than "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." Otherwise, Sunday services would be decidedly short. I would also expect the TF religion to be able to explain WHY freedom is the right of all sentient beings. If it is, then what makes it so? Because Optimus Prime said so?

Meh. It's still better than atheism.
