It's about willpower, man! At least you won't be targeted for death if you leave TFology, though that's no guarantee you won't die!

@ Davestator, What employment requires you to divulge your religion? No group, organization or person has ANY right to ask you your religion and expect the answer. If you believe in TFs, you dont have to tell a single person. And even if you said that, they have no grounds to treat you differently. Im an Atheist, but I dont go around and tell people. If someone brings it up in conversation, Im not afraid to bring it up because I dont care what anyone thinks of me. Its only a problem if you let it be a problem for you.

It's just not as simple as that. It's a matter of the publicity it gains and the reputation it spawns. You may not realize the jeopardy it can put your social standing in because those who are in positions of influence will never directly tell you that it's what they base their decisions on. It's usually something you find out later on, down the line, through the grapevine.

But I guess you just need to find out for yourself.

^ You're thinking too hard. This is JUST the census, people lie on it all the time with no ramifications!

Hell, if anything, people get BENEFITS because they lied on the census!

So? You guys who think something like this needs to be controlled are wrong. You CANNOT control what someone believes. Its unconstitutional and unlawful. So if someone wants to believe in giant alien robots, why let it bother you? You can call them crazy, you can cite a million psychological cases against them, you can do whatever but it boils down to is that people have the right to pursue happiness in any shape or form.

@ MikePrime, were only ridiculous enough if you believe we are.

@ Cybcouncil, you cant control every aspect of someone's life. People have a right to do what they want so long as it abides by the law. I said let people do what they want, so long as it doesnt effect others. That includes breaking the law. If you tell people you believe in TFs for a religion, doesnt matter. If you organize a cult on it and plan mass murders, then it does matter. Dont take what I said so broadly or literally. People do need to control their inhibitions but thats ultimately on them, not society to control it for them.

Let me ask you all a question. Do you really think Transformerology is any worse then Scientology (which is a recognized official religious group)? They are both based upon fiction. One has giant alien humanoid robots in a never-ending war. Another has a giant alien overlord in airplane spaceships with brainwashed alien souls. One has a fanatical following that shows their devotion by purchasing action figures and other licensed products. One requires its members to pay continuously to remain a member. Is there really so much a distinction in ridiculousness? Is it because TFology and Scientology are such a young concept as opposed to the thousand year old magicians in other books that they are harder to accept? Cmon people, religion is so blown out of proportion its all ridiculous in the end. Its like The Comedian said: "Its all a big goddamn joke"

These things only have power if you give them power.

A little too serious aren't we? This is the kind of thing we should be making fun of, not endorsing.

I believe that transformers exist in an alternate universe and that our cartoons are the windows into that universe. That's one of my beliefs, and how dare you call that NOT my religion! It's the facet of my religion that I will put down on the census.

By the way, I'm also Catholic and I have no issue with this at all. I find it hilarious.

:agree :agree :agree

I feel as creators we ...peer into another dimension and that somehow we are lucky enough to see just what happens there and to tell the story borrowing from these universes.

Religion? Hmmmmmm..... ;)

I dont care about my social standing. Im happy with myself and the friends I have. I dont need to get buddy buddy with the boss over a round of golf. Im not some kid who is inexperienced in social situations, Im nearly 25 and have gone thru as many jobs as the next guy. And those people that secretly harbor some sort of hatred that make the decisions that effect our lives, fuck em. They arent going away, they just arent. No matter your ridiculous religious decision. As long as the majority of America is some form of Christian those dudes who pretend to respect and care about others is still going to be there and still be a real stick in the mud when those people need help.

Find out for myself, like Im some naive 16 year old. Thats a nice little demeaning remark.

Im not endorsing or damning anything. Just saying let people do what they want and offering defense/comparison for my viewpoint. Sorry if I went nuts but religion is such a hilarious hot button that its hard not to push.

Sounds like Galaxy Quest a little I think.

Yup, apparently the GQ aliens think the website www.tvtropes.org is a catalog of how our world works.

No. This is a stupid idea. Please don't drag Transformers down to the level of Star Wars fandom.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't refer to my religious beliefs as "stupid."

Fortunately for me Australia is a secular state and our constitution guarantees religious freedom. Woot! That and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states:

"Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

You don't have to join this religious movement... but at the same time you don't need to persecute it either.

And as our personal saviour, Optimus Prime, always taught us, "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

I believe that transformers exist in an alternate universe and that our cartoons are the windows into that universe. That's one of my beliefs, and how dare you call that NOT my religion! It's the facet of my religion that I will put down on the census.

Indeed. After all, science cannot conclusively prove that Primus, Cybertron and the Transformers don't actually exist. ;)

By the way, I'm also Catholic and I have no issue with this at all. I find it hilarious.

S'cool. Transformers: The Religion is an inclusive faith (much like Buddhism). You can still believe in other religions and believe in ours at the same time.

Errmm... except for the Gobot Faith. That's non-compatible, sorry.

Or the Power Rangers faith, Cuz that would be just stupid.......Real stupid---LOL!

Break free? Its called plastic crack for a reason. I see WFC Bumblebee and I start getting the shakes

Ha-Ha-Ha! That is funniest shit I have heard all day! :tflaugh
