Transformers: The Religion

Recommended Posts

As an atheist, my views are that religion is a farce. Not that they are bad or that anyone is bad or dumb for believing in them. I think everyone has a right to do whatever the hell they want so long as its not at the cost of others. What I dont like are the people who need to convert others or blow people up because of it. I support this TF religion, go for it! :thumb

I do not however, like Scientology. Its brainwashing pure and simple. And creepy. Scientologists go away. I aint paying you a percentage of my yearly earnings!

And instead of Church of Primus can we have Unicronism?

I, on the other hand, do have an issue with the idea. Mainly that declaring your love for the fandom as a religious belief is going to give others the notion that you take your love for the franchise way too seriously and that you are at the very least bordering on fringe psychosis. And I can't say I can find reason to say they would be wrong.

Meh, like I said as long as it doesnt come at the cost of others, who cares? Let people do what they want. You can have a severe psychosis, doesnt necessarily mean your dangerous or whatever. It could end up being that but lettem cross that bridge when they get to it.

Ok My Wife just Got Home from her Job with the Census. I asked her about this Transformers religion thing and her comments were this: "The Census Doesn't give a Rats Behind what religion you are just needs to know what number of people live in your home" So you could Put "Church Of Flaming Lavender Power Ranger Cronies" and they wouldn't care the least. So pray to who you wish. But remember the same things you are calling people out on in this thread is the exact thing you are doing by trying to push you Religion ideas on us.

There is a cost to others. We are ridiculous enough without some jackasses forming a religion of Transformers. It makes even less sense than those Star Wars fans who call themselves "Jedi", as this is humans basing a religion on alien robots.

Ok I have to say this. Even some ideas are dangerous. That Let people do what they want comment is just plain Dumb. There has to be some control in all aspects of life no matter what it is. If people did whatever they wanted the world would go into shambles. People need to have some controls over their inhibitions.

I joined up

That's just it. It sounds like a funny little prank now, but give something like this enough steam and eventually we all start looking bats**t insane. Now maybe some of you never need to care or worry about having gainful employment, but as for me I'd rather be allowed to function as a contributing member of society, WITHOUT having to deny being a Transformers fan for fear of being made to look so ridiculous that no rational employer would keep me on a salaried position.

In short, when you attach the word "religion" to any belief, it WILL come at a cost to others, even if your intentions were humorous!

By the way, I'm also Catholic and I have no issue with this at all. I find it hilarious.

S'cool. Transformers: The Religion is an inclusive faith (much like Buddhism). You can still believe in other religions and believe in ours at the same time.

Errmm... except for the Gobot Faith. That's non-compatible, sorry.

Bugbite would like to have a word with you.

So? You guys who think something like this needs to be controlled are wrong. You CANNOT control what someone believes. Its unconstitutional and unlawful. So if someone wants to believe in giant alien robots, why let it bother you? You can call them crazy, you can cite a million psychological cases against them, you can do whatever but it boils down to is that people have the right to pursue happiness in any shape or form.

@ MikePrime, were only ridiculous enough if you believe we are.

@ Cybcouncil, you cant control every aspect of someone's life. People have a right to do what they want so long as it abides by the law. I said let people do what they want, so long as it doesnt effect others. That includes breaking the law. If you tell people you believe in TFs for a religion, doesnt matter. If you organize a cult on it and plan mass murders, then it does matter. Dont take what I said so broadly or literally. People do need to control their inhibitions but thats ultimately on them, not society to control it for them.

@ Davestator, What employment requires you to divulge your religion? No group, organization or person has ANY right to ask you your religion and expect the answer. If you believe in TFs, you dont have to tell a single person. And even if you said that, they have no grounds to treat you differently. Im an Atheist, but I dont go around and tell people. If someone brings it up in conversation, Im not afraid to bring it up because I dont care what anyone thinks of me. Its only a problem if you let it be a problem for you.

Let me ask you all a question. Do you really think Transformerology is any worse then Scientology (which is a recognized official religious group)? They are both based upon fiction. One has giant alien humanoid robots in a never-ending war. Another has a giant alien overlord in airplane spaceships with brainwashed alien souls. One has a fanatical following that shows their devotion by purchasing action figures and other licensed products. One requires its members to pay continuously to remain a member. Is there really so much a distinction in ridiculousness? Is it because TFology and Scientology are such a young concept as opposed to the thousand year old magicians in other books that they are harder to accept? Cmon people, religion is so blown out of proportion its all ridiculous in the end. Its like The Comedian said: "Its all a big goddamn joke"

These things only have power if you give them power.

^ TFology is better than Scientology because you can leave if you want and have the willpower to break free of the siren call of plastic!

Break free? Its called plastic crack for a reason. I see WFC Bumblebee and I start getting the shakes
