Could Takara Release Masterpiece Rodimus As Their 4th & Final Transformers 2010?

Recommended Posts

god i REALLY hope this is true.

Though i doubt it'll be hot rod if were true. I'm still happy.. just as long as these three MAJOR aspects are addressed.

first. he better have the triple exhaust pipe guns on his arms.

second. his head sculpt better be G1 cartoon accurate. (i don't really care too much about the "battle mode" visor)

third. his back spoiler better be a good size, a nice color, pointy, and very visible from the front, and by that i mean cartoon accurate

G1 hot rod is an incredible figure. if they did a hot rod and not a rodimus prime.. i have no doubt that they could get him looking perfect.. but i'm sure it'll be rodimus prime. the size would probably fit better.. but hey, i can keep my fingers crossed.

HOPERS it is Rodimus Prime with TRAILER..

If they do a MP Rodimus, I hope they eventually get around to doing a MP Galvatron.

Wholeheartedly seconded. In fact, when I heard the rumor that they were going to commemorate someone from "2010" I immediately thought, "Man, I hope it's Galvatron and not Hot Rod." I love Hot Rod, mind, but both G1 versions of Hot Rod are great, as was Classics Rodimus, which will soon have a fansproject add-on. Galvatron's G1 toy blew, and the Classics version really, really needed to be a size category bigger.

:wat Sacrilege! In my opinion, the G1 Galvatron toy is actually one of the best G1 toys! Yeah it didn't match the colors of the G1 toon (matched the Marvel Comic version though) but I thought it was a great representation of the character. Toy had great articulation (for the time it was made) and was solid! Annoying sounds be damned, but G1 Galvatron is one of my favorite toy figures. I still have my original one, and the re-issue/repainted purple Galvatron!......Yeah that Classics/Universe version blew. It really should have been a voyager as originally planned.

G1 Galvatron may well have been a decent toy when taken on its own, but you gotta admit it looked absolutely nothing like the movie character! At least G1 Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime vaguely resembled their celluloid counterparts. Galvatron actually deserves a MP makeover more than Rodimus TBH...

For what it was, I thought the toy did a good job of representing the character. As I said, it's (original) colors matched the Comic version of the character instead of the Cartoon version. Remember, when these toys were made, toy engineering was nowhere near as advanced as it is today. The movie characters had a lot of rounded shapes and looked more human than anything, especially if you were to compare the designs to Season 1 and 2 characters. I mean, what more do you want? It wasn't an exact match, but it was good enough for us growing up in the 1980's. It looked like Galvatron. It was solid, big, had great articulation.....

I would love to see the character get the MP treatment, however I don't think the Galvatron G1 toy was as bad as some would say. He was a lot better than Rodimus Prime's G1 toy....

IDK, I have like 12+ of them. Besides if Magnus came with one...

Also, alot of people do consider white Prime Magnus' to be Hate Plague Primes :P

I don't own it, but if I did i would never consider it "Ultra" Magnus, just plain Magnus. There is nothing "Ultra" about that white Prime repaint. Then again, Hate Plague Prime works as well.

All white Prime UM to me are plain Magnus, so I agree. If there isn't an upgrade armor like with City Commander & G1, or something to make him stand out on his like the awesomeness of Titanium, RID, or even Animated, the figure is just Magnus on my shelves.

Yep, that's why I made cardboard armor to turn my white Prime into Ultra Magnus :)

Looks way better then animated.

I'm hoping Takara does more with the Henkei line and PLEASE!!! Stop with the Convoy repaints and release Rodimus Prime. He is long over looked and long overdue

are you serious?

classics hot rod was AWFUL. i seriously cannot stand that figure. luckily fansproject will finally give me a reason to have owned it. but i definitely like universe galvatron better than classics hot rod.

they have yet to make a good hot rod. animated looks like it's the closest we'll get (other than G1, but that figure doesn't stand up to figures these days)

i REALLY hope it's hot rod, but i'll settle with rodimus prime if that's what they're planning.

but seriously. classics hot rod is terrible. and.. there are 3 masterpiece autobots (2 for me, i don't count magnus) and 5 decepticons. i think the autobots are due for a masterpiece figure. .. plus, i always loved the grimlock hot rod relationship.

I was happy to sell off my Universe Galvatron. I don't miss him one bit.

Classics Hot Rod, I don't understand the hate? His arms could use some better articulation, but otherwise he's a real nice updated figure who pays the homage he's supose to without reinventing the wheel.

Hot Rod I would probably buy. Rodimus I would certainly NOT buy. I don't understand how any of you can be okay with the RV/station wagon looking pile of mess that is Rodimus Prime's alt mode. Putting a hybrid camper/trailer thing on top of a sports car is the worst idea in Transformers history.
