DS, my only problem with that statement I think you just edited ;)

That level of story telling hasn't even come close to matched since, which is very sad.

Primes' death made me cry as a kid. Dinobots' death could still make me cry now. But what do I know. I also cried when John Connor lowered the T-800 into the molten steel at the end of Terminator 2.

The BW deaths were touching, but I still say the most emotionally touching one for me is Scorponok in Marvel comics. Especially for the two panels depicting his death. The 'you did good' and the whole Prime dropping his head moment. THAT was great story telling and still gets to me every time.

Also, yeah Prowl in Animated was a little touching for me too. More for the kinda sad smile he gave Jazz as it was happening than the whole sacrifice thing. It got to me.

for everyone unfamiliar, TF writting at it's finest...

So many levels packed into 20+ minutes or so.

One of the reasons why I've abandoned TF fiction is that they have shyed away from instead of embracing and developing this level of quality.

-and yes that is an animation eror at the end with Rattrap, don't let a 2 second glitch lead to bitch of a great episode.

Deaths

G1

(I didn't see the transformers animated movie till I was like around 8-10yrs old, when the show was airing normally I was 3yrs old. Somehow I think aunt and cousin who was fans saved me from a trumatic experience in my early children lol. so 3rd season I was wondering what happen to a lot of the autobots) The masscare that happen in the autobot ship was a shock factor for me. Then Optimus death was even bigger omg moment, I didn't cry I was just shocked, I was like how could they kill him!!! lol. However I thought Starscream's death was badass till to this day lol

Beast Wars

The Transformers animated movie soft the blow seeing death in TF. I think I can safey say beast wars had most death count in a tf tv show as of yet. Optimus Primal's 1st? if you can call it one, I was like did that really just happen (the icing on the cake was Megatron(II) goading about primes williness for self sacrifice). Terrorsaur and Scroponik's death: felt like I been they been cheated but a sad thought is they wasn't really missed. Dinobot's death is truly an epic tale, when I saw that episode I think I became depress for awhile, every time I see that episode it alway touches the heart. Transmute was a sad one too not to overlook that great episode. Inferno and Quickstrike deaths: was quick and humorness abit. Depthcharge and Rampage death: was a great twist I didn't not see that coming what so ever. Tigerhawk death man just suck how he when out. Dinobot II death's I felt another way for the orginal Dinobot to extend his farewell and to ensure Megatron(II) plan didn't succeed.

Beast Machine

Tankkor/Rhinox death: I was sadden that one of my old favorite became a bad guy even more so when he choose to go to the Allspark instead of coming back into a new body as a way to redeem himself. Noble death was tragic one, orginally reveal to be Megatron(II)'s organic half, once Megatron's spark left that body, Noble proven to be a good guy. However since his mind was more beast then machine(or intellgent) all the maximals but Nightscream was afraid or felt he too much a a loose canon to keep around despite the fact he saved them many times. Only till he gave his life to help save the sparks (or most for Nightscream sake) they realize he a hero. Optimus Primal and (Optimal) Megatron death was a great way to wrap up the story, in a way saying they respent the yin and yang of the cyberton.

Armada

Smokescreen's death I must say was pretty brutal enough said (I don't think many can survive getting hit by Requim Blaster blaster at point blank). Starscream's death was touching I thought, not too emotional and wasn't a cheap way to write someone off. (I going to add next to G1 Starscream, Armada Starscream is one of my top 3 favorite). I think this could be a possiblity due to Armada constant errors Sideswipe? it seen when they was leaving Unicon body after a failed assult, Sideswipe ship seem to crashed, but a sec later you hear his voice saying he's ok.lol. Thrust's death ouch!!, Sideways deaths great shot Optimus. Megatron(upgraded)/Galvatron's his death show us for once there a Megatron with a heart and great sense of honor, after his battle with Optimus for surpeme leaders of Cybertron, they was both put in a life or death situtation. Optimus trying his best to save him, refusing to let him fall to his death.Megatron/Galvatron makes the choice for Optimus by admitting defeat and saying that Optimus must on live to lead Cybertron. Knowing that Optimus will not go without cuts Optimus' hand forcing him to let go.

Energon

How when this aired in America a lot of the deaths been batardized, like Demolisher making supring sacrifice to save Galvatron/Megatron, this a sad moment in Energon because eventhough Demolisher was a decepticon he grow to become friends with the autobots and Kicker however his loyal to Galvatron/Megatron won. As a reward of his loyality he was reborn with a mind jumping ape. Going to shortcut this a bit, Tide Wide crushed, Shockblast crushed, Wing Dagger shot and crushed, genertic bots crushed or shot, Sixshot crushed, Galvatron sacrifice himself again cause he refuse to be controlled by Unicron.

Cybertron

Victor Prime had to fill in a prime must died in every continum quota lol, Well this was a gentle farwell compared to the others I kinda got the obi wan spritiual vibe from Victor Prime's death, in way he still had to power to help Optimus deliever the final blow to (Master) Galvatron. And (Master) Galvatron he went out fighting no complaint here.

Animated

I going to do this quick, I have a feeling if cartoon network didn't cancel this show and a long with toonami for live action tv shows, we could had seen a better ending this this series. A side note I'm very surpise by the amount of Animated hater there (I know alot might be G1 purist) but the show was great for what it did and it was great homage to older series. Blurr death very ouch, Starscream and Prowl totally rushed due to being cancel.

Live Action Movies

Jazz's death: Optimus death in the orginal animated movie didn't trumatized me. For the case of Jazz I think I say it had :P ,if devoiding him of his charisma wasn't enough. But seeing my one of FAVORITE autobot being tore into two definety did the trick lol. Optimus death would had made a bigger impact on if wasn't for the fact 20 sec later I realize they bringing him back (thank to them saying he was going to combine with Jetfire, who didn't show up yet in that point of the movie). All the rest of the deaths happen too quick to sink in

Agreed. Code of Hero is a true masterpiece in story telling in both transformers and in televised media as well which makes me wonder if these new shows that are coming out can match it's level of story telling or if the producers of the show are even trying to match it, probably not. :tfsad

I consider myself lucky that I was able to grow up with Beast Wars, the characters were great, the story was incredible and they did everything right that G1 did wrong. And here's the thing I liked most about Beast Wars, when they introduced a new character it wasn't because they wanted to give an in-show toy commercial to a new character for one episode and then have them go missing for a season or two, instead when they introduced Inferno for example he continually showed up in episode after episode and played large roles in quite a few of them, until he died. That was my largest problem with the Transformers Animated, they would introduce a new character and then after an episode or two they'd ship they off somewhere else until they needed to remind the kiddies "hey we're still here you can buy our toys now!". But that's just my opinion.

Primus, now I have an urge to go buy the Beast Wars DVD's on Ebay....why I haven't done so already is beyond me :redface

tfjazzy mentioned Armada Megatron. That was a pretty awesome death!

Energon did have alot of generic fodder death (which I loved) but poor Team IronHide :tfsad

Concerning Animated, Blurr's death was disapointing as I liked the guy.

-also if you where refering to me, I'm not a G1 purist, I just think :animated sucked.

Maybe i'm not emotionally invested enough to have gotten sad.. or maybe I skipped thru the grieving process and went straight to mad..

either way... IMHO, it's OPTIMUS PRIME and it's not even close. That was the single biggest mistake in transformers and it almost destroyed TFers before it turned into what it has become. They grossly mistook people's association of TFers to Prime, and his character. no other TFer say transformer like him. To this day, I dislike Magnus because he represents, to me, that horrific judgement call. They have obviously written their way out and around it - but clearly the loss of Optimus prime was the biggest tragedy.

That said... I have always hated beast wars. Outside of giving them the transformer character names, it could have been a completely different toy and named line. Nothing turned me off and away from TFers the way BW's do. Animals just don't attract everyone. CARS are universal to age - kids and men alike love their CARS. It's a major reason the BT line brought me back - a return to the original love. I realize it's an unpopular opinion to have, but there is a lot of differences in waht people like in the TF series and plenty of differences for everyone - but for me - I have no love for BW's at all - regardless of the writing.

To me, all of that stuff was just part of the story. I really couldn't be sad for the death of a cartoon robot. I find it so odd that so many fans were affected by Prime's death as children.

I do agree with MikePrime. I like the conversation though. I don't even get sad when real people die. My Dad and my dog Ebbie, thats about the closest I've ever come.
