Ok I literally just started thinking about this question and wanted some outside opinions. I'm just curious who's death effected you the most? Didn't really know a better way to word it but basically which death made you the saddest or just made you miss the character the most. Also I added Prowl onto the list because he was the most recent likable character who died in a Transformers series....that and I couldn't think of anymore character deaths that could be labled as "emotional", Movie Jazz and Armada Starscream didn't seem to fit the poll. ;)

Personally I have to go with Dinobot, I grew up with Beast Wars and when Dinobot died I actually cried when he died, and I RARELY ever cry. And here's the thing I still get alittle sad when I watch "Code of Hero" cause now that I'm older I now know all the build up leading to the chasm fight, as a kid I didn't realize Dinobot was considering suicide, as a kid I probably saw that scene and thought, OoooOOo Shiny sword :wat

Now I did see the Optimus Prime Death when I was about 10 and even then I didn't really understand it, though I didn't watch G1 back then I still knew that the bots could take one hell of a beating in the show and still walk away without a scratch, if anything Prime's death just left me confused at how he even could die rather then leaving me sad or "emotionally scarred".

But that's just me, I made the poll because I wanted to see whether the emotional impact of the character deathes had anything to do with what show you grew up with (like me) or if it came down to character preference.

Although not TF related... I literally cried when Zero died in Megaman X. Although that was a loooong time ago I think I was 6 or 7 at the time and this was before I found out that zero comes back *several times* is actually quite suicidal *and enjoys it*.

I still laugh when I think that in 86 kids got upset when Prime died.

-wussies!

If I had to pick, Dinobot had the most dramatic and actual meaningful death. The entire episode was great, and really captured the depth of the character form starting with the contemplation of suicide, to kicking every Predacon's ass alone to a deep fairwell with one final jab at Rattrap. Thats good writing!

Prime, yeah it was a good fight and the jump was cool, but OK he's dead they moved on so what...

Animated Prowl, are you serious!?!

Animated Prowl, are you serious!?!

Yeah I needed a third poll choice so he came to mind, I'm not sure if it's because everything nowadays is a trilogy but I like my polls to have at least 3 choices, I'm wierd like that :wtf

i was initially going to say prime, but i think i was too young to really grasp the concept of death in a cartoon context. i mean i had powermaster prime so no matter how many times he died, prime was still there in my toybox having adventures with me every day. Dinobot is definitely the clear winner, but i have to give an honorable mention for ironhide, i was really sad when he died. he was primes best friend, so to see them both go down like dogs, meaninglessly and separately, really bothered me. but then the junkions sang and danced and i was happy again.

god it was weird having a kids brain.

How about Starscream in Armada, The Crew of the shutle in the 86 movie, Vector Prime, Ultra Magnus in HeadMasters (actualy that was really weak).

Prowl's death just seemed like a way to wrap up alot of wasted time and give the series a failed bit of consequence.

I think that for me Optimus Primes death effected me more the first time that I saw it, because now I have seen the return of Optimus Prime and I am glad to see him rise.

But out of all great heroes to rock the 80's and die in the 80's is Optimus.... Hands down!!!

Or was it Chris Lotta????

Hmm, ok the Shuttle Crew will be added to the list for sure cause let's face it, watching Prime die a hero is one thing but watching a ton of everyone's favorite characters die in a mindless slaughter probably made kids try to claw their eyes out to make the sight go away.

Armada Starscream was considered but to be honest I don't think it's one of those big deaths that effects that many people. Prime was a big one because well, kids weren't used to seeing their favorite cartoon characters die, and then be replaced by a "hip" new bot. Dinobot's death was a big deal because the entire episode sets up atmosphere perfectly, the emotional buildup adds to the tension and it feels like it was written for an older audience, all and all it makes a very memorable moment. Armada Starscream doesn't really do it for me, if I recall correctly he fights Galvatron, fires a big ass laser at Unicron and then he dies only to be brought back in Energon without any memory of past events, I mean I liked Armada and I can't even remember how the hell the bot dies! Well at least the fangirls cried when he died. :ghey

In defense of any of them, at some point they all get brought back. If Animated had a Season4 trust me, somehow we'd see prowl again.

I can see your point about Armada Starscream. He did a good job standing his ground and calling out everyone. Basicly he let himself get killed as the only way to get through to Galvatron and show him the actual bigger picture beyond his ego.

Armada & Energon are actualy the only 2 series where I liked Starscream.

He did come back in Energon, but he really wasn't the same guy. For Armada, that was actualy pretty good.

If not for the imediate return I'd mention Armada Smokescreen

and Energon Inferno,

both cool death sceens, especialy after everything they put Inferno through. When they come back 2 episodes later, it kinda kills the purpose.

Sorry I couldn't find any shorter clips that weren't AMVs. Either way, all 3 beat prowl playing Budda on a rooftop and turning grey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCaWXEv7th4&feature=related

God Animated sucked.
