didn't say it was a better deal, just that it's intresting to see what they did.

I am intrested in the $30 Upgrade for MC Captain America into Roadbuster though. I like that figure and wouldn't mind trying the set out.

Likewise - I have to tip my hat to Kidbash; that Roadbuster conversion kit is absolutely inspired. Alas, it is cast in resin, which I do not think would stand up to well to the rigours of being played with by my daughter. Although... if the pieces are cast directly from the original Roadbuster toy accessories (which seems wholly possible), then maybe we could bash something together ourselves. :)

Some pieces are for kids, some are for collectors.

I mean no disrespect, and don't know how old you daughter is, but I've always had some figures that my nephews could handle, and others they weren't aloud to breath around!

This was well before upgrades when the only game was Has/Tak. You wouldn't let your daughter play with this, I wouldn't let them touch TM Cheetor :P

When I began really getting into my current collection, I learned quick that there are play things, and there are collectables in the relm of toys.

For me, pretty much anything I can't just pick off a retail shelf falls under the catagory of collectable, and hence, are subject to careful handling.

The more I look at it, the more I'm becoming intrested in the Hellscream upgrade too.

It doesn't look like much more then some MP parts recast and fitted for the Ultra Silverbolt mold, but I can see that making for a real nice Skywarp :schin

I like the idea of having a set of seekers who don't share the same mold. I redubbed some of the Energon figures for this purpose. Sludgeslinger is Thundercracker, Sharkticon is Skywarp and Starscream is well...

Those are my Pre-Air Academy versions.

I'd like to continue that. The Universe Silverbolt mold would make a nice Skywarp. BW Ultra Jetstorm can make a nice Thundercracker with some modding, while Cybertron Supreme Starscream takes care of itself.

No disrespect assumed; I am of exactly the same mindset. I pick up the collector-grade stuff for myself (Masterpiece, Binaltech, Encore etc.) and my daughter goes the route of Classics / Universe toys. It's just unfortunate that in this particular instance, I have no need of a Universe Roadbuster myself, and the resin pieces probably won't stand up to a pair of tiny hands. Still, this could be another custom project for us to sink our collective teeth into, so it's all good. :)

You know, I've been looking at the entire set a depicted in this image, and I think I've figured out a few things that FansProject haven't actually announced in any official capacity yet.

1. The backpack / dual artillery cannons actually separate down the middle, and expand. In this way, the cannons can be far enough apart from one another to aim over Bruticus' shoulders (without hitting him in the head, that is.)

2. The anti-materiel rifle folds in the middle and has a smaller peg that can rotate in to replace the existing grip; I'm guessing that the weapon actually forms a smaller rifle for Onslaught when folded.

3. At the front of the feet are what looks like pins; almost as if the front of each foot flips open. Perhaps these are some kind of ramp for Onslaught's trailer bed?

4. The two sets of identical guns can clearly join together into two larger weapons that stylistically resemble shotguns; again, it appears with some kind of rotating handle assembly. So perhaps we can have a dual shotgun-wielding Bruticus?

5. On closer inspection of Onslaught, it turns out the Bruticus head / neck assembly can actually unsnap and be removed. So it would appear that the replacement head FansProject have developed just snaps into place.

6. One of the two missile packs that form the new shoulder joints has two protruding rectangular pegs; it looks as if these plug into the rectangular holes on Explorer's chest. From this though, I'm guessing that Explorer and Munitioner are not going to be interchangeable after all. (Then again, no big loss; it's not as if the Combaticons were known for arbitrarily switching limb positions. That's right, Stunticons - I'm lookin' at you.)

Edit: alternately, the pins on the front of the foot pieces might be part of some kind of autonomous 'battle station' or 'weapon platform' arrangement; as it occurs to me that in robot mode, Onslaught has no means of storing the foot pieces and most likely no way to wear the backpack, either.

Dunno if this was posted anywhere but here's the stuff that each set comes with.
