Fans Project Bruticus Upgrade sets up for preorder on BBTS

Recommended Posts

When I ordered my Battle Rollar from them it came out to about $10 less then the BBTS start price even with shipping.

That I can understand; certainly, to my understanding, BBTS is occasionally guilty of mild to moderate price gouging (and again, I say this as someone who has made use of their services). However, this strikes me as a problem with BBTS - and not the cost of FansProject's products versus those of their competitors.

...If TFC can make a figure that versatile that can be sold for only $35, it sucks knowing a scout with some plastic bits is gonna cost $50 and you still have to ship it. What sucks even more is if you want the full effect, you'll have to do that twice

I don't think you are drawing a fair comparison between the two releases. For instance, the accessories you denigrate as merely 'plastic bits' appear to collectively weigh as much as each individual FansProject figure - that's an awful lot of value right there, simply in terms of raw materials. Munitioner and Explorer both appear to be solidly constructed and feature superior articulation (swivel waists, ratcheted knee joints); and their weapons are multi-component pieces with no obvious cost-saving cut-outs... the same of which cannot be said for the Battle Rollar release. In all honestly, I think the these two are clearly worth every additional penny asked for them and one would be hard-pressed to construct an argument to the contrary.

I want them damnit. They're expensive though, so they'l be the only new purchase for a while unless I sell some more stuff... I'm trying to get rid of some of my collections so I can get what I really want. Yers of impulse buying's finally gonna stop, and I'm gonna choose more carefully what I buy from here on

Thats what I said...

That Blastoff/Explorer is really cool, but not for $50.

:agree There's always gonna be cool stuff, you just gotta draw a line.

I understand these guys gotta get payed, but I can't help thinking if these pieces weren't associated with Transformers how much would they cost. There are alot of toys from China in alot of closeout stores that go for a hell of alot less, so really, how much is plastic?

What really adds a tarnish to this is the amount of overpriced upgrade influx in the market. It all losses it's charm after a while especialy when it's bankrupting you.

I do love Transformers, and I do want a kickass collection, but I also wanna buy a house. High end pieces at to high prices aren't going to help me do that, and will probably get lost on the back of a shelf after a year amid the next gotta have things.

Just like the Knight Morpher before it, it's HARDLY worth that price. I'd pay $20.00 for each, which is generous considering if Hasbro made these, they'd probably cost $10.00.

So you get 2 limbs packed with accessories? Maybe I missed something here, but....How can you make Bruticus without the other 3 Combatticons?

I agree 100%! Especially since there are so many TF lines going at the same time, and it's impossible to get everything. This is pretty much why I decided to not collect Animated. I'm running out of storage space, too...though once I actually do buy a house that won't be an issue anymore!

well not really because it dirrectly reflects the cost of both engeneering, manufacturing, and distributing the item. I keep using the example of RobotKingdoms cost because it is significantly lower. So that right there just makes me wonder with all the steps in concept, manufacture, and production taken into effect, if this site can sell the item for so much less, what is the cost to TFC where they're still turning a profit too?

Also the argument has been given that it cost more to ship from RK. That can be turned around to say it's part of the domestic inflated price. The thing is though they're shipping in bulk, and are paying alot less per item then we are, so it's not much of a stance right there.

It's fucking plastic, the shits all over the place. Now do me a favor, don't tell me about the QC unless you lnow what it is for a fact. Everyday we get new pics of something or another that looks solid and true and just plain isn't.

I know everyone swears by Fansprojects like they're the second coming, but here's what I Know from my experiences. Both city and Shadow Commander, 2 very well designed figures. Both have super tight leg pieces that are so tight they may just break once by putting them on and off. They have chest armor that gets dislogged when moving the arms. Then they have big robot hands that slide right off the arms if you put anything in them.

-I have 3 versions, all of which share these issues.

Then we have the Cliffjumper upgrade. I never opened mine, but have seen a couple. Don't expect those guns to fit well

Lastly, the Superion upgrade. I only set it up in robot mode and tinkered with it for a second, so in all fairness I can't say anything. Same goes for the G3 trailer, I don't have it so it's off limits. The gas tank gun was so over priced I never even thought about it.

Now don't get me wrong I like Fansprojects, but at the end of the day it comes down to the fact that this crap is plastic. Plastic is cheap, and these guys should be established enough by now where they can afford it. I know several local manufactures who have product much more detailed made in China who have a final sale cost of a lot less. I can also say most are very very small companies so it's not a corporate Has/tak type thing.

So same as Battle Rollar who can be sold for as little as $35 and still bring in profit, or even that $25 Rumble looking fella, these figures should be at a more respectable and fair price. $100 for the 2 is well worth putting a foot down over. If we don't, just imagine how much the next one will be?

Want proof, City Commander $80, Shadow $80, DIA $120 with a collective F-THAT, which gave us the City reissue back at $80

I want a grat big attic just for my toys :thumb

These are an add on to the Energon/Movie combiner. You'd actualy wind up with an extra tank and copper out of the deal if you have a complete one.

It is nice, real nice, but $30, even $35 nice per set. $50 though is a screw.

I've drawn that line & crossed it so many times that it's smudged! Between impulse buys and 'gotta-haves', I've just come to acknowledging it as part of being a collector. But it's definitely not worth bankrupting yourself! Just sell them off and replace as needed. And speaking of needed...right now, I desperately need another display case! ;)
