ROTF Voyager Megatron Jet Mode

Recommended Posts

Got Megs today. gonna try to get him into his mode. I'm having a hard time getting the tracks into place. Also would you mind if i used this in my video review of him? I make video reviews on youtube and I hoped that i could use this.

yeah why not. I was going to at first but got lazy with it

Vbann, if, when you transform him into jet mode, you keep the head and treads in the same configuration as they would be in tank mode, and only transform the arms, it makes for a much more solid jet mode because the wings locked into their proper positions in the treads keeps everything from flopping around. With your tread configuration, the wing pod and treads move around because there's nothing holding everything together. Here's an underside shot of my version of the jet mode as well as a front shot to show how everything fits together tightly.

I'm very disapointed...

Last night I decided to let Voyager Megatron have his first battle.

I just happened to have Energon Cliffjumper out...

There was nothing this Megatron could do to him. His sword even bent backwards.

It is, underwhelming. This figure realy needs to be upscaled to leader class.

Cliffjumper was obviously powered-up with an Energon star, then. The magical powers of Energon can make the most overwhelming of Decepticons seem like the mildest of kittens. (scratches movie Ravage under chin)

I like that configuration, but instead of keeping the treads the same I flipped the two tiny front ones up so it looks a little less like a tank and fills in some holes.

Overall this is a nice find! Major prop's man!

I tried that, but they didn't quite fit. If you're interested, there are more pics of him in all three modes from different angles here:RotF Voyager class Megatron repaint (triple-changer)

very tempting...good pics of the repaint...really nice work!

I don't know if you've already tried this, but taking the two sections of tread that function as Megs' robot mode heelspurs and tucking them into the aft section of his jet mode (underneath the backpack/fuselage) does streamline him quite a bit. Sorry--I don't have any pics. They would fit inside diagonally, with the backpack/fuselage in exactly the same configuration as you have it to hide his 'inner workings.' His legs fold up partially in this configuration similarly to their orientation in robot mode. You're no longer able to peg the wings into their corresponding holes on the treads/legs (which is a definite minus), but it seems solid enough and kind of ties his jet mode together (a definite plus).

Yes, I have tried those configurations. The very fact that you can no longer tab the wings into the treads creates the greater issue, that being that the mode no longer holds together well. Thus, it isn't solid. With the treads pegged properly, it holds together. Obviously, you can't flip the front treads up in this configuration because the right tread hits the right shoulder. Keeping the treads in their tank configuration provides the most stable jet mode, and also provides practical landing gear.

Yeah thats how I had it at first but I wanted to hide the treads as much as possible and since everything fits snugg right under the wings nothing should come out of place as long as you dont lift the wings. But for a actual landing gear just having the treads as normal would be the best idea

There were multiple problems I had with trying to "fit" the treads up under the wings like you originally had it. On top of the lack of structural integrity, the entire wing assembly ended up at a very odd forward tilt. It didn't lay flat like it should. So, it was inherently out of place to begin with on top of the piece moving around. and thus the mode not holding together very well. And, even without intentionally lifting the wings, things certainly cam out of place. The treads and thrusters would come out of position, by rotating down, the wings would lift up on their own. It just doesn't hold together without the treads in their standard position and the wing tabs locked into place. I've tried different techniques to hide the treads better too, but I simply found that it just creates more problems than it solves. Leaving the treads in their standard configuration just works better over all, and doesn't really hurt the jet mode.

Is there a way to position the arms in this mode such that they click or snap together nicely?

Yes, there is. BC12E98780AC4F0AB152866456E538D1.jpg

When transforming it to jet mode, raise the arms over the head, rotate the right arm so that the cavity for the blade is facing inwards and the then rotate the left arm so that the trigger is facing outwards, then bring the shoulders together and lock the left arm into the cavity in the right arm. If you arrange the arms like in this picture, they hold together pretty nicely. You can't "lock" them together as if there were dedicated pegs and holes to secure them, but they hold together pretty well regardless.
