Why aren't Alternators original characters?

Recommended Posts

I can see all new characters being popular so long as the design and appeal of the alt mode and robot mode are strong enough. I mean, at some point NO g1 character was familiar. Then there are WAY more cars out there than g1 personalities/names that will fit. So I think that once the g1 well runs dry, its gotta go somewhere as long as we're alt hungry.

I really like Alts/Binals being related to G1. Its a great idea, so I wouldn't change it at all

Of course it kind of creates continuity problems, seeing as we're almost in "the year 2005." But hey, since when have continuity problems stopped G1?

Oh well. Continuity has never been perfect in any version of Transformers

:tflaugh So as long as it's already a mess, let's add even more problems to it.

You know, another problem with the G1 tie-in is that it creates these fan expectations. Sideswipe as a Viper, Dead End vs. Sunstreaker (a discussion which I myself participated in on many occasions), yellow vs. blue Tracks, Alt. Grimlock, Alt. Ravage, etc. etc. There would be none of this if the Alts were simply their own line. We would be able to enjoy them for what they are, without comparing them to something else.

Well, okay, Ravage would still suck. :tftongue

If they have to be G1 characters means crap like Grimlock as a car then the line should never have existed.

You can call that figure what ever you want. His name doesn't have to be Grimlock. It's just a toy. Have some imagination.

Nevermind that he's gray, has Grimlock's head, and comes with a sword and a gun.

I call figures by the name given to them by the manufacturer. If he is called Grimlock he is Grimlock. And since they ruined Grimlock I boycotting the entire line.

Am I the only one that likes the idea of the Mustang Grimlock? I think it looks really cool

It degrades Grimlock.
