Movie Sideswipe to G1 Tracks repaint-Wip Update p.5!

Recommended Posts

I'll add some advise, with an exception of his initial advice, ignore Tramp. He's the type that if you say something against his mindset, he'll end up bringing a good topic down with constant back & forth, on points neither side is usually willing to back down on.

ETA: See? :roll

Holy damn, case in point. Wasnt this topic about a Movie Tracks or something lol.

Actually, I know exactly what I am talking about.

You might *think* you do... but with over 150 customs completed and all still in perfect condition, customs I have here from 20 years ago (painted with enamels) all say otherwise.

You see, I have proof that you're talking out your ass, you have hearsay claims from a nutty art teacher.

Not a "nutty art teacher". A professional movie model builder with over 30 years in the industry. You've been lucky F/R. Other people have not been.

Geeze, guys. Can ya'll just take your "who's customizing dick is bigger?" contest to PM?

This whole bickering back and forth is not helping Phoenix Blaze on his project at all.

I apologize Blaze, I hope your project goes well. It sounds like a cool idea tho, I look forward to the finished project.

I look forward to seeing this, are you going to go with the classic colour layout with a yellow patch on the chest? If so I'll do a rough digibash for you if ya want. Enamels should be fine on Sideswipe, I've only had one problem with enamels and that has been removing it off clear plastic. Though I would steer well clear from fast drying enamels, that stuff can be troublesome.

As I stated before, bothpaints have their pros and cons. Neither are exclusively the best. Thhis member asked for advice, not an ass kicking contest between F/R and Tramp, and Tramp you're the one who threw your toys out the pram about this one, as allways when someone disagrees with anything you say.

well as some enamels may have a chemical in them that "eat" a layer of plastic before bonding to them, others may not. I'm sure proffessional model paint companies would have seen if there was that problem and fixed it if it were the case

Anyways, put your differences aside or agree to disagree. Either way guys leave it now

Oh and F/R you didn't reply to my last message :argh

By the Gods! It looks like my simple little threat has errupted into war.

I used to use some enamels to paint model planes (before I got into sci-fi and fantasy wargaming) and I never had any issues with them.

I have a large amount of acrylics already, which is a pro. for them, but enamels tend to seal better than acrylics and won't rub off as much (from past experiences). But then again, 99% of my painting experience is with acrylics. Gah maybe I'll buy a Legeneds class toy to experiment on.

But yes, tomorrow will hopefully see me find a movie Sideswipe, if not I'll be ordering online. I'm a neat enough painter to not have to mask things over, but I might, just incase.

As for Tracks' classic firebird detailing, I'm not sure what I want to do with that. I suppose I'll decide nearer to the time.

Thanks for all the helpful hints and tips guys, I was especially pleased to see that F/R had stepped in. I've spent a lot of time drooling over your customs and kit-bashes, some of the best I've ever seen.

Thanks man. reading your reply, I see this is going to be Tracks...for some reason, I thought you meant Red Sideswipe, which is due out pretty soon as a repaint.

Here is a link to Reporlabel's Tracks set. It looks pretty spot on, hope it helps.
