Rumor: Season 3 Will Spell the End of Animated

Recommended Posts

I'll be incredibly ticked off if this is true. Before Animated I was about to call it quits on collecting. I found the movie to be lackluster and universe just really isn't my thing. The ONLY reason I'm still collecting is because of Animated. Don't get me wrong, before Animated started, I saw the pics of the new style and thought "how horrible" but the show and the toys are done so well that I had no choice to change my mind and support it. Now, I could see them starting a "new" series that is really just a continuation of Animated under a different name, and I would be OK with that. I also beleive that MOST of the die-hard movie enthusiasts really only like the movie line because the more "adult" look makes them less self-conscious about being a toy collector, because, really, the movie TF designs are pretty terrible and as characters, they totally lack depth. And they claim to dislike Animated because they feel it makes them look "childish". I feel the movie is for little kids that want to be grown-ups and Animated is for adults that want to reminisce their childhood. People seem to forget that TF's are SENTIENT machines! Therefore, they need PERSONALITIES! And no other series since G1 did they have such varying personalities than the do in Animated. Anyhow, if this is the end of Animated entirely, I'm going to end up with a bit more money in my hands. Hopefully they do the smart thing and continue it, even under a different name.

Well said---this is mostly exactly how I feel about the whole thing. The only thing I'll add is "to each their own", however to me Transformers are about characterization---not :awsum However, I hope for those of us who don't believe the movie is the best thing that has ever happened to the franchise that there is a replacement that has similarities to the story telling that has taken place in TF:A and G1.

I used to be able to watch TFA on youtube & cartoonnetwork.com's jetstream. I was able to see all of season 1 &2 this way. Now they don't have it. I don't have cable. Help? :justprime:

I just wish they would use some pre-established continuity rather than constantly inventing new ones no one cares about. G1/BW/BM universe is preferable, but I don't really care. Expand on RiD. Do a movie prequel series. Make a spinoff of Animated. Whatever, just don't force yet another unwanted TF continuity (which will inevitably be yet another G1 rehash) down our collective throats.

Excellent point!

It's probably too late for it now, but I always thought they should 've had spin-offs of Beast Machines where the Maximals go looking throughout space for displaced Transformers. That would open up a lot of possibilities on different worlds...

Including vehicle TFs, and we know there were plant TFs thanks to Botanica. Maybe they would have come across the Beastwars 2 bots

Jetstream was shut down IIRC, they might still have it on Hasbros's streaming service. Other than that, the best bet to re-watch it is by purchasing it on DVD. (Transform & Roll Out, Season 1 boxset (or the bundle), and Season 2.)

If :animated Optimus ends the series with the line "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings," transforming into the Awesome Leader of Win we know him as just as the series ends it will be fantastic.

It would be awesome if TFA ended just like 7:16 into "Another rude awakening of Optimus Prime":

I meant TFA Season 3, I already saw season 1 & 2. What is IIRC?

If I Recall Correctly. In case of Season 3, I'd imagine Cartoon Network would most likely host streaming versions of it for a while, just not on JetStream.

I just checked Cartoonnetwork.com, they didn't have TFA Season 3.

I gotta say, my turn off to Animated had nothing to do with the fact that I felt self consious being an adult collector and that show having a cartoony look.

I don't care about that.

What I do care about is that for the style of animation they used, it was the laziest most slip shot example of the style to date. What I care about is that one side of the equasion was near completely preemted for crudly drawn super villans that are realy bottom of the barrel.

Do you realy need an overweight Robin Hood or a girl on a My Little Pony to show you who the real bad guys are?

It's not like the real bad guys ever got to do anything anyway!?!

The show did have elements in it's writing that were awesome, but it also wasted to much time.

Now they toys, yes they were show acurate, but big whoop, how hard is it to mimick simple line art?

Besides, show acurate TFs are nothing new anyway.

lets look at the down sides though, the QC sucked, and alot of Deluxe figures realy should have been Scouts. Tiny toys at top dollar are never fun...

If Animated is gone, oh well, it had it's merits but so did every line befor it. But I'm not gonna let anyone say I don't like it because I'm self consious about anything. I just don't like it because it wasn't very good.

I'll be happy to see the happy smiley bots go away and share their flowers and rainbow bubblegum farts with someone else as I welcome back the robots.

If it's only 12 episodes, I'm willing to bet the finale is a 2 or 3 part-er.

I'll be happy if we see more Sentinel and Lugnut.

And Screamer. He's generally pretty funny.

I just checked Cartoonnetwork.com, they didn't have TFA Season 3.

If you mean that you want to watch Season 3 now, you can't because it hasn't aired yet. Its supposed to begin airing sometime in the spring (possibly as early as March).
