Rumor: Season 3 Will Spell the End of Animated

Recommended Posts

I believe they'll take whatever Japan makes. And Japan has an ever shrinking awesome style of animation, or an ever growning style of quick hoaky crap.

I'm fairly confidant in guessing at what TFs would get again.

The plus side though, the AEC toys, even the poor ones where increadably detailed!

:tflaugh I'm talking about the shows, mind you, not the toys. The figures got better over time with the A/E/C line. The anime, on the other hand, only got better with Cybertron... marginally. I'm trying my damndest to get through the rest of Energon (7 episodes left) but it's getting increasingly painful. It's turning into liquid :poop almost instantly at the moment. :guh

I think I'm the only person who liked Energon. But I understand what your saying, the end of the series did drag out.

I think what made Energon for me where the intentional horrible things they did to the characters. The beatings, dismemberment, killings of side characters, what they put Inferno through...

Those where the things I focused on.

But yeah, I believe Hasbro is gonna import whatever, and as I stated earlier in this thread. I wont matter if it's subpar, the name is still gonna sell it.

I HOPE for better, but I know from experience.

Truth be told, American based shows have better overall writing, but Japan tells a more liniar story. What I'd like to see is a true amalgum of a Japanesse plot with American writing. As for the imaging style. Normaly I don't like CGI shows, but with Transformers it works, and normaly well.

What hurt Cybertron was that the style would switch to much between hand and computer(plus over use of stock transformations).

So give me an American writen liniar story that moves along at a decent pace(animated wasted way to much time) with CGI art that isn't mostly stock, and only shows humans when they're being called germs and getting killed!

I can dream.

True, Energon was more violent, but the translations were horrible at points and one particular episode (Distribution, when they're in the combat simulator) was absolute garbage. The "orb" transformation of the combiners was a real letdown and transformation stock footage was also abused. Bring the figures on, leave the shows in Japan. They might tell a better arc, but Americans can't translate well enough to make it watchable.

If season 3 is the end it will be a shame. The way I see it they have only scratched the surface of what they can do with this line I just hope that before they end it they give us Arcee in her car mode and hopefully other fembots.

Just stop making them into motorcycles they done it so much that its overkill

I'm not talking about translate. I'm saying just come up with a plot and let a US company write it all together. You can only do so much with rescripting, especialy if it's after Japan is left to there own devices.

I don't mean to insult, but as example I offer Freefall's sig pic...

Even the best writers can't do anything with that!

American writing from scratch is the best, however Animated and even the first season of Beast Wars is a fine example that even though the writing is better, on it's own it fails to grasp the structure of an ongoing plot.

I've never had a problem keeping the movie seperate from the cartoons. It's like they're not related at all, to me.

If it is getting canceled, my guess would be something along the lines that they are hedging bets ROTF goes apeshit popular and wants to focus most financial concerns into a third movie, thus cutting off TF:A and not having to split focus and/or dollars between the movie and animation. I don't believe that myself honestly but it seems feasible to a degree.

Kicker killed Energon for me. He is perhaps the single most annoying character in TF history (he and Wheelie are neck and neck).

Even if Animated's finished after three seasons I hope they keep the fiction on this side of the Pacific. I enjoy Armada and Cybertron in their own special, unique ways, but without a doubt the American shows blow the Japanese shows away.

I just wish they would use some pre-established continuity rather than constantly inventing new ones no one cares about. G1/BW/BM universe is preferable, but I don't really care. Expand on RiD. Do a movie prequel series. Make a spinoff of Animated. Whatever, just don't force yet another unwanted TF continuity (which will inevitably be yet another G1 rehash) down our collective throats.

Excellent point!

It's probably too late for it now, but I always thought they should 've had spin-offs of Beast Machines where the Maximals go looking throughout space for displaced Transformers. That would open up a lot of possibilities on different worlds...

Thats actualy how I explain SWTFs.

But yeah, I can live without another retelling. I wouldn't mind IDW realy stepping up to the plate, even TFCC would be better than the highest bidder.
