Hasbro Answers Your Burning Questions Part 2

I know I shouldn't do this, but I have to throw in with the "we wants da seekas for animated" crowd. :dumb

Personally, I believe that if a character has been represented on the series, even once, then he/she/it warrants a toy personage. We might not get them, like Devcon and such, but it makes me want em. This is why I believe that the seekers don't equate with nightwatch prime et al. Let's face it---nowhere in the fiction of the 2007 movie is there a dark blue jet who cracks sonic booms overhead. However, there is a ton of support for all of the seekers in Animated, because of their clone-i-ness. I'll even be tempted to buy the Lugnut repaint because of his appearance like that in the one with Wreck-gar. I hate repaints for the sake of getting rid of paint, but in the support of acquiring a complete cast, I'll line up for slaughter every time. . .

Now if the clones didn't have diverse personalities and fiction to support them, then I'd just buy another Starscream or two and call it a day. . .

Sorry, non seeker guys---be gentle :munch

And, unfourtantely...

Clones - It's likely that between Exclusives and the Mainline, you'll see clones in the future."

Damnit, let's hope they mean "Store". If :animated FemScream gets a remold and shows up only in a Botcon set, I'll have my own Seeker Angst.

HASBRO!

HASBRO!

I fear this is what's gonna happen, along with getting TFA T'Cracker, Ramjet, & Wasp.

I could also see these Botcon TFA Exclusives:

Sentinel Prime as Trailbreaker

TFA Dlx BB as Cliffjumper

TFA Swindle as Gears

I fear this is what's gonna happen, along with getting TFA T'Cracker, Ramjet,

FemScream is the only clone that interests me, honestly. While I realize the others all have new, unique personalities from their previous Generation counterparts, they are saddled with been there/done that Seeker Stink.

But FemScream...new and glorious FemScream. That's where it's at.

& Wasp.

I'm pretty sure we've already seen his toy, and there's no reason to believe it'll be anything other than a mass release...unless, of course, you mean his "vehicle body".

Lord Madhammer: Given your focus on the kids' toy market, what do you think about licensing the Transformers brand to specialty companies (e.g., Diamond Select, Sideshow Toys), who could create transformable Transformers figures for adult collectors?

Hasbro:
Because of the technology and expertise involved in making Transformers toys,
we would be worried about the quality that any other company would be able to achieve in making a Transformers figure
. Your idea is technically what the Transformers Collector Club is for, and the recent release of the Seacons is an example of how we find alternate ways to get out products that the fans enjoy.

OH JESUS CHRIST YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME

well, I guess that answers my question.

Yeah and how many of the TFCC figures have you actually wanted to buy? ME = NONE. Molds and Color schemes have ALL turned me completely off.

Guess we're going to have to rely on TT to fulfill the adult collector Market. Hasbro is just too "All about the kids" to care.

OH and how is the "You MAY see classics TC and SW but not in 2009" a YES? It's a MAYBE. I'm not holding my breath. How much you wanna bet that the Botcon exclusives will be the rest of the Animated clones?

Hasbro: Take that fan boys!!

I mean

his vehicle body, not the Waspinator toy. And it would be an even more likely scenario if Wasp got to earth in Season Three and was green BB-car for a bit before becoming the experiment of Meltdown.

You are way too angsty about this my man. Of course Hasbro wants to think "kids first", we don't make up enough profit otherwise. They just toss us fanboys bones here and there, which is nice IMO.

And yes to 09BotCon Exclusives probably being the other clones.

This answer frustrates me. While I'm not a bit surprised they won't consider this- I think for some of us here (fans of the Alt/BT and such) the issue is that Hasbro seems unable/unwilling to to MEET the quality standards some adult collectors would like to see them meet.

I would kill for some Binaltech/MP quality movie toys, or even some REALLY NICE large scale non transforming robot replicas (as opposed to those sad things they made that weren't even as detailed as the actual transforming versions- really, what was the point?). Realistically you know either of those lines would sell at least as well as alt/bt ever did, possibly better depending on how big toy sales are over all for the new movie.

This is ultimately why I will probably stop collecting after I at some point lose interest in the movie lines (and even those I'm sparing with what I buy). Grimlock and the Alternity line are the first new things in quite a while I've actually been excited about.

Nah...not really all that angsty. I may sound it but I'm not. I guess just stating the tone that I'm getting from the answer.

I know we would never be able to see the numbers but I'de be willing to bet that collectors make up much more of their profit than many of us think. When you have collectors buying 2 or 3 of each figure at a time, even multiple cases at a time. Certainly someone at Hasbro has to recognize the profitability of upscale collectors figures. I mean how quickly did the US release of MP Prime and Starscream fly off the shelves? How quickly did City Commander sell out and how much money did he make for FP? Look at the response that the Alternity line and MP Grimlock has gotten. The fact that Hasbro STILL isn't taking advantage of the adult collector market is just amazing to me.

I hear you.

They really should either look at it more seriously or suck it up and license it out.
