Which is not to say that I don't have a mighty angst over my unfulfilled dream of a BM Primal/Megs two-pack.

I mean, come on, how could you not love chibi mumu Megatron

Oh, I believe those may come. I have that much faith.

But I see no glimmer of hope for a Botanica.

I would have to agree with that.

Especially given the unusual directness with which they addressed the Botanica question. :tflaugh

Raving Toy Maniac has their Q&A up now. Hasbro was nice enough to send along a few sketches of Universe Galvatron's third walker tank mode! I don't believe any fan attempts got this right.

Emerje

Whoa.

I'd have to agree with you, nobody got it right at all.

and it does look kinda cool :redface

edit: aaaaaaaaand... after trying to get my Universe Galvatron into walker mode, I realize that it doesn't work like the picture shows. LARGER SIZE CLASS :argh

They used my question, but it sucks that there will be no Constructicons. Or humans for that matter.

BUT I WANT MY ANIMATED CONSTRUCTICONS!

.....2009 sucks! After Cyclonus, Smokescreen and Hound my shopping is done!

These lame questions only left more to be desired.

But at least I'll save money!

You know what's funny about the Rid in Universe question, The original Universe line was full of Rid repaints. Hell, there's still a Kb toys somewhere full of those figs.

I would have to agree with that.

Lol. I think I got it......sorta.......Screw it! I'll just play with my Scrapmetal figs instead.

Well according to the last reports - we make up roughly 13.5% of Hasbro's sales, IIRC. Hopefully someone who's got the numbers down like Hobbes or someone could find that link for you as I can't seem to find it.

And FP's City Commander really probably doesn't show enough incentive for Hasbro to say it would work for their markets to make something like it at all.

I'm not talking about just sales though. I'm talking about strictly DEMAND. If Hasbro recognizes the DEMAND and accommodate that demand then sales will follow. JMO though.

As much as I want them to make high end TFormers themselves (and I really, really do)- I think the ultimate fates of both the Alternator Line and the titanium line (which I didn't like) indicate they have tried, and that they weren't getting the kind of sales numbers they wanted.

This is why licensing would make sense. Adult collectables cost a good deal more than kids toys for two reasons. One they are more intricate, detailed and therefore labor intensive. But more importantly because they don't sell the same kinds of quantity as successful kids toy lines, but have the same costs to develope them, they can't spread the costs of developing them out to much.

I'd pay more for a nice TFormer. I already do. At least 1/2 my collection is Takara versions as the paint aps tend to be far superior to Hasbro's.

the biggest frustation with alternators was distribution. i there were so many that i only saw one time (when i bought it) and never again. OR they had gobs of rollbar and sunstreaker. by the time hts was up and running it was too late for alternators.

Yeah exactly. I think that the Alternators Prime that I have is the ONLY one I ever saw in any store. NOW if you wanted one of the Scion bots they were a dime a dozen.

The Titaniums I think were crappy, IMO. My wife bought me two for Christmas and they are about the most loosy goosy floppy figures I have ever seen (since my old G1's with worn out joints).

I'm not entirely convinced that Hasbro really put their all into those two lines.

I just think that if Hasbro REALLY put some serious work into it they could make upscale collector figures that people will want and will be profitable for them. Granted they do ALL of the animated figures (clones not included) BUT the constructicons?!?! WTF? How can they do a Wreckgar figure (a character that appeared in ONE episode) but no Constructicons. I just don't understand that.

Licensing to other companies would be awesome but Hasbro will never do that.

I was lucky I guess. The only Alts I saw once was Camshaft and Swerve. Swerve I was lucky and had money. Camshaft.............I'll never own him. Oh yeah, never saw Rumble and Ravage either but I wasn't searching hard either being car-less @ the time.
