Hasbro Answers Your Burning Questions Part 2

Recommended Posts

In short, we could release versions similar to TakaraTomy's (TT) versions. In fact, we worked with TT to ensure that their versions were different enough from the BotCon versions to ensure their exclusivity. But we recognize that there have been some fan favorites that are hard to find since they have only appeared in BotCon sets so far. We work closely with FP to ensure they get good exclusivity but we also don't want to miss good opportunities nationally. So there may be a chance that Hasbro releases different versions of those characters (including Thundercracker as well), but it won't be in 2009.

Dear Fanboys,

Seeker Angst is officially outdated, and it quit being tasty a while ago. I don't want to hear anymore about it. You're clearly getting your Thrust and Dirge from Hasbro in a couple of years. Let's all move on with our lives.

Thanks,

Hobbes

Seeker angst died for me the moment I pre-ordered Henkei! Digre and Thrust :shrug

:word :pileon :pfx

the additional cone heads was where all of my angst was coming from i don't care for the g-1ness of the paint, i prefer the updated starscream and skywarp.

Well according to the last reports - we make up roughly 13.5% of Hasbro's sales, IIRC. Hopefully someone who's got the numbers down like Hobbes or someone could find that link for you as I can't seem to find it.

And FP's City Commander really probably doesn't show enough incentive for Hasbro to say it would work for their markets to make something like it at all.

I'm not talking about just sales though. I'm talking about strictly DEMAND. If Hasbro recognizes the DEMAND and accommodate that demand then sales will follow. JMO though.

As much as I want them to make high end TFormers themselves (and I really, really do)- I think the ultimate fates of both the Alternator Line and the titanium line (which I didn't like) indicate they have tried, and that they weren't getting the kind of sales numbers they wanted.

This is why licensing would make sense. Adult collectables cost a good deal more than kids toys for two reasons. One they are more intricate, detailed and therefore labor intensive. But more importantly because they don't sell the same kinds of quantity as successful kids toy lines, but have the same costs to develope them, they can't spread the costs of developing them out to much.

I'd pay more for a nice TFormer. I already do. At least 1/2 my collection is Takara versions as the paint aps tend to be far superior to Hasbro's.

the biggest frustation with alternators was distribution. i there were so many that i only saw one time (when i bought it) and never again. OR they had gobs of rollbar and sunstreaker. by the time hts was up and running it was too late for alternators.

And, unfourtantely...

Clones - It's likely that between Exclusives and the Mainline, you'll see clones in the future."

Damnit, let's hope they mean "Store". If :animated FemScream gets a remold and shows up only in a Botcon set, I'll have my own Seeker Angst.

HASBRO!

over at seibertronsomeone asked the question about female bots and hasbro said they had none planned.

They say that none are planned for the Universe line, but Arcee is coming up in Animated

and is pretty much a lock for ROTF.

I figure we've got an excellent chance at seeing FemScream someday...and when that day comes, my angst level will be determined by 1) will retool the mold or just repaint it, and 2) where will it be available?

Raving Toy Maniac has their Q&A up now. Hasbro was nice enough to send along a few sketches of Universe Galvatron's third walker tank mode! I don't believe any fan attempts got this right.

3. Beast Machines and Robots in Disguise seem to be getting passed over leaving a gap between Beast Wars and Armada. Will we see all of the prominent Universes played out or will it be selective? Can we please finally have a Botanica figure?

Answer: First, we are going to have to say no to the Botanica figure in the immediate future.

The blessing and the curse of having such a successful line with 25 years of heritage behind it is that you have a lot of history. As a result, it has been difficult to incorporate every era into the core line. In those instances where we could not fit the traditional figure into the line, we tried to give that era a nod in our Robot Heroes line.

So....does this mean we'll see a Robot Heroes Botanica?!?

I'm not as worried about those. I need a Botanica.

WOO-HOO! I was hoping this was the answer to my question!

*edit* so basically, yes. :D

No the answer is yes you'll get them you just have to wait for a year and a half. Though with the movie coming out next year it is understandable that we would have to wait for them to get us these much sought after figures. I like the answer as far as Thrust, and Dirge are concerned aside from us having to wait so long, but as for Thundercracker meh I have him now. He's a very simple repaint.

Fortunately my question was already answered by BBTS when they emailed me with the info about wave 6 of the Universe Deluxes coming out in March including Ratchet.

*edit checked those other Q&As
