I'd say that photo collage correlates pretty well with the screwhole calculations.

:shrug

I don't know why some are calling him "voyager sized" - he's not that small, more like leader class size, and bulky to boot...

A masterpeice Blitzwing would be cool though.

See, that to me would have "MP" value. Sure you could make MPs of a zillion different characters, oh look it's fifty cars and twenty jets, bla bla bla... but I think a triple changer would be a great choice for the "Masterpiece" treatment. Any one of them, really. Just because that's a separate category of Transformer that could be updated in a really cool way.

Unique stuff would always get my vote over "I need to complete my collection" concerns.

More unique than a weapons platform that has the shape of a t=rex and changes into a robot with demon wings and a ninja face??

:wtf

Oh wait, you're talking about Grimlock.

heh heh

I would prefer Voyager-sized, but anything shorter then MP Prime will do :munch

This (bellow) -->
Quick As far as height is concerned heres my ultra scientific take:

I always look at the screw holes. There is usually 2 sizes of screws... the small ones around 3mm and the bigger ones. Lets take one of the larger sized holes(inner leg) and say its 5mm in diameter, he has a height of around a 62 screw-holes.... which is about 31cm(12.2 inches)..... yea? any takers?

Not this. (bellow) --->

The picture was just$ confirmation of the previously translated Magazine page that said it was the same size as MP3 (which was SS).

Unless those are 3 mm screw holes...

Im MSN buddys with a very big buyer of all things new transfomers, and he stated that Grimlock willbe larger and that is why the cost is more. Also, like mentioned, more chrome, and more die cast, the chest i believe. He is supposed to be a tad hair bigger then Prime. But even HE hasn't seen him yet. Just was told this by a seller/factory worker.

No matter your 'scientific' screw-holes measuring, it's obvious from the comparison pic with G1 Prime that there's NO WAY it'll be bigger than MP Prime.

Do you own one? Do you know how gargantuan he and MP Megatron actually are?

Which I think helps drive home LM's "MPs should have started and stopped with Prime" theory.

MP Prime is huge. Yet if we look at MP as just an other line, then there are going to be characters that have to be AT LEAST Prime's height (like Grimlock).

Of course Prime being so huge means that anything bigger (taller and/or bulkier) will just be impractically huge.

I agree that the figures should be as close to "in scale" within a line as possible (assuming there's only one price point per character).

But there are two reasons that I don't think that's a big deal...

1) A 'Masterpiece' line should have VERY FEW figures. Sure threre are a lot of fan favorites (all the '84 bots), but only a very select few deserve the Masterpiece upgrade. So having them be large shouldn't be a problem for a serious collector when there are only a few (statue collectors typically have many more pieces often at roughly the same size).

2) Although Prime is large, I don't think it's "impractically huge." If memory serves, it's about the same size as Armada Unicron, right? So making an MP Fort Max wouldn't be possible, but again considering how few figs should be in the line, (Grimlock just scrapes by, IMO), it wouldn't be a big deal to have one or two more the same size as prime, or just a hair larger or smaller.

I do understand the argument for stopping at Prime. The axe, the light up matrix. It was an awe inspiring collectible for a true fan that anybody would recognize on a shelf: The single greatest display piece to put up when you want people to know you like Transformers, but you're an adult who's not still buying toys.

But for anyone that fits that description, just don't buy any of the others and Prime will still do that for you.

I dont know if you noticed, but Grimlock is too tall to be standing up in Dino mode to connect Prime's "brain helmet" on him & MP-08. That doesnt say short to me. :shrug

Okay, in what way does that even make sense? You don't think the other end of the helmet could droop down another inch if he were standing? Do you think the cord is static? Seriously, explain this to me.

Also, try not to use "gay" as an epithet KTHNX

Ok thats easy. He's most likely in his sitting position so he COULD be short enough to attach the prime/grimlock brain cap. He's going to be taller once standing on his feet, thats for sure.

Of course I can not be sure; but the way from 22 cm to 30 cm is too much long. Hope you can understand what I men.

Anyway, about more “proofâ€, I did find the following picture, simulating very well the (presumed) size of Grimlock MP in comparison with Optimus Prime MP. It was made by a member of autorobot.it forum: here the original link.

MP-Grimlock_paragone.jpg

If your basing your height off this pic, Optimus G1 is standing a few inches closer then MP Prime. And therefore is that much smaller looking then what he REALLY is. Use a measure tape and stand where his feet would be if he were thnat much closer back, and he goes up to MP Prime's waist. Same as Grimlock right next to G1 Prime in that pic. They are (once again if you base off THIS photo) the same size. ;)

And if you base it off that pic... well, it's just rather bad since the Prime on the right is viewed from an angle and is closer to the camera.

Actually, objects which are closer to a camera than a further off object in the image used for reference, are smaller than they appear in the image. In this case, however, the slight angle has provided an accurate image to base scale off of.

The size of G1 and MP Prime are accurate in the above photo, just as they are below...

dsc2896he6.th.jpg

I went a step further and put the "sitting" Grimlock photo in scale with the standing one in photoshop while keeping the G1 prime in scale as I went...

mpgrimscale1md2.th.jpg

And then moved G1 Prime back into the image and turned it back upright without altering it's scale...

mpgrimscale2ux1.th.jpg

And then finally did a quick add in of my previous G1 MP Prime scale photo...

mpgrimscale3yw7.th.jpg

The G1 Primes in the last image are not meticulously to scale. In fact, I think the one in my photo is a tad smaller than the stock one, but with the angles, it's hard to be exact.

To me it looks like Dino Grim is, generously, about 9" tall. From what I can tell of his transformation, his robot mode will be virtually the same.

I can't imagine anyway his robot mode would gain 3" considering that as you add height by standing him on the robot legs, he loses height when the Dino head, neck, and chest swing back and down.

You can even see in the bot mode pic that the Dino legs, which become his robot arms are about half the length of his entire body.

I just can't see how this thing will be at all comparable with MP Prime and Megatron, in terms of size.
