What's the average age of a Transformers fan?

Recommended Posts

I'm 24, my older bros. were more into transformers than I was at the time g1 was out. My first transformer toy was a G1 Metroplex, which I bought from some guy who was just walking down the street and asked for loose change and from what I remember I gave him around a buck eighty, I figured he stole it since he was just walking around with it without a box or maybe decided to sell his little brothers toy for spare change. I was kind of worried about what to do with it at the time, cuz at my age, parents were always like don't talk to strangers, and I was worried about their reaction when I told them where and how I got it. Like I said I wasn't heavily into Transformers, I was more into Ninja Turtles. When Beast Wars came out, the first Transformers that I bought were BW Rattrap and BW RazorBeast, after that it was BW TM2 Cheetor and it went on from there.

I'm 20, I started when I was five when I got into the G2 reruns of the G1 cartoon. I was hooked instantly. I got my first TF around the same time, a hand-me-down G1 Starscream from my older cousin. I still have the sucker :D

Almost my exact story, but I'm 21. Saw the G2 reruns and a VHS of More Than Meets The Eye, cried when Prime died after I saw the movie for the first time, got a bunch of (mostly broken) hand-me-down TFs from a family friend, and haven't looked back. The first new one I got was a G2 Sideswipe, which was followed by Jazz, Inferno, Ramjet, Starscream..etc. I think the only actual new G2 figure I had was Megatron.

Started getting back into collecting around 2002-2003 when the Alternators and G1 reissues started coming out, that led to Energon, Cybertron, and so forth.

I'm 35, married,

I started back in 84 when it all began.

My first TF was Jazz (actually starscream but the Miracle Mart were I bought it had a wrong case cause all the jets were broken when they came out of the boxes is head would fall back, so I went to exchange it for a skywarp and it did the same thing) that's how I ended up with Jazz. Never saw starscream again only found it again as a Japanese reissue in 2001.

I stopped collecting after G2 came out and got back into it at the end of Beast Machine and never stopped from there.

I'm 14 and married (kidding! :tflaugh ). Yeah I know, I wasn't alive when the show came on, blah ,blah, blah. But was really into the newer shows as a kid, and found the old movie. I rented it and really got into the old show. Still haven't watched much of it though :tfsad. Kinda into collecting, my mom doesn't like it so I don't get too many new ones :tfmad. Hope to get back into the game once I'm on my own :clap. And yeah I know my profile says I'm 26, but I put that there because I'm a big fan of Scott Pilgrim, and that would be his actual age.

I'll try to make this short...

I'm 34...married...no kids yet...although my wife would disagree...she's got a 34 year old.

Started from day one...I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. My first TF was G1 Sunstreaker. Collected until 8th or 9th grade. Stopped because I was "Too Cool" and grown up. Started again with BW, BWII, BWNeo and havn't stopped. My only regret was selling off most all of my old G1 stuff when I was in Highschool. Now I'm trying to rebuild what I once had and add it to the new stuff. Currently trying to re-collect Predaking these days. :thumb

I'm 21, and have been a Transformers fan since I was about 3.

According to my mother, I first really showed an interest in them when I would go over to one of my friend's places who would have a number of the original characters (as he had older half brothers who had been given them previously). I know I would try to watch the show when I could, however I don't have any actual memories of doing so until the G2 Cosmic Cube Episodes came out.

My first TF was either Optimus Prime or Soundwave, both of whom I still have (although both are in various states of disrepair). I remember getting certain TFs as congratulations for certain achievements.

I enjoyed Beast Wars, but as I was only about 10 at the time, did not have a lot of money to spend on them, and only got 3 or 4 at Christmas. (Well, one was my brother's and the other was to share, but he doesn't like TFs anymore. So I inherit them. :) ) I also remember stumbling upon the show and enjoying it. I lost interest when Beast Machines came out for some reason, and that was almost the end of my TF story.

However by the time I was about 15, I saw a little toy called Ultra Magnus - a toy I had wanted so much when I was younger. It didn't matter that it was the RiD Ultra Magnus - completely different to the one I remembered - I would have that toy! The fact that it combined with the Optimus Prime for that line meant that Optimus became one of my Christmas presents for that year. Of course I then needed the Car Brothers, and they needed a Megatron to fight. And so starts my modern collecting saga. TFs tended to take quite a bit of my pocket money when I was 15. And now that I'm 21 with a part time job, the story is no different! :P

The only thing that is different is what toys I can buy for myself, without having to wait for some of the bigger, more expensive ones until I could get them as Christmas/birthday presents. (Here's looking at you Unicron and 20th Anniversary Prime.) My collecting has also moved beyond the toys and into the DVDs - with the Complete G1 collection, the three seasons of Beast Wars, as well as both seasons of Beast Machines, with Headmasters, Pretenders, Victory to come soon (Madman does some awesome work for those of us lucky enough to live Down Under) - as well as the IDW releases, both their own work and their and the collected rereleases they do.

There are times when I look at my collection and think is it all worthwhile. But I enjoy them, and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. :)

PS: It's scary seeing guys on these boards who would be too young to even remember when BW was on the air. But it just reminds me of when I was in their position. Ahh, nostalgia.

PPS: A reward for anybody who actually made it this far down in my post. :P

27, soon to be married ...

... started when I was 7, back in '87, TF wasn't aired here in beerland, but I saw them on the british Sky Channel.

My first one ? Wow good question ... I had some mechs from the Macross line, but the first TF must have been Blitzwing. Sadly he is long gone :tfsad

During the Beastwars era I did not care much about TF. Humanoid robots turning into animals, with basically two arms and legs too, that was just uninteresting to me. I like them to turn into machines, and have blocky arms and legs.

I got back to them when I first saw prototype images of MP Prime.

I recently discovered my old TFs at my mothers home, but due to my younger brother and my nephew they're in a really bad shape, and mostly incomplete (missing arms, legs, heads ...)

17, and it all began with beast wars. That series was te greatest concept i had ever seen as a kid, and now i've grown up to appreciate it as a good sci-fi show in general. I had plenty of BW toys, but they all got broken from overplay. As i grew, i got in and out of collecting, but i really started delving into the world leading up to the movie. Once i saw the movie, of course, all bets were off. it was the straw that broke the camels back, and now i get almost any figure that interests me. :dclol
