What's the average age of a Transformers fan?

Recommended Posts

I'm 27, been playing with TFs since I was probably 4/5, don't really remember the first one I had, I know we didn't have a lot of extra money, so I probably had more GoBots than actual TFs, but I didn't care. Started collecting again in 2000 when the CarRobots/TF2000 was coming out in Japan, and then I saw the MP Prime, and well, I'm still collecting am I not?

Still predominately a G1 fan, though I do enjoy a few figures from just about every line, some more-so than others. I'm working on finishing my Megatron collection, there's a few Primes that I need to add to my Prime collection, then I can go back to my boxed Japanese project (I want to acquire the first 2 years of TFs unused in Japanese boxes).

I got back into collecting some during Beast Wars, when I would sit around with my little brother and have fun with him, but he got older and lost interest, and in return, so did I. It just wasn't the same without him, he had so much fun with all of them. He had quite a few of them, and I had managed to acquire almost (never could find a TM Rhinox for some dumb reason) all of them from TM until the end with a few older ones in there as well. Beast Machine toys didn't help much with the fading glory of TFs at the time, but oh yeah, CarRobots/TF2000 in Japan, that was just sweet.

I'm 32, married, 2 kids.

I liked TFs as a kid, but not nearly as much as GI Joe and Star Wars figures. The G1 figures I had I can count on one hand:

Blitzwing

Bonecrusher

Cosmos

Perceptor

Seaspray

All those were eventually lost to what I call the "Great Garage Sale Purge" perpetrated by my evil arch-nemesis, my dad. In the early 90's I bought the Autobot Air Patrol and the Decepticon Air Strike Patrol teams and I still have those.

After that, Beast Wars was what yoinked me back in. I tend to buy only figures/toys if the toy or character interests me (I have only show cast characters from BW) and I'm not a completist by any stretch. I have a particular affinity for Optimus Primes (I have 20 or so different versions) and jet aircraft (Starscream, Jetfire, etc.)

Another "age" topic to remind us how old we are and that we still play with toys...

32, married, 2 kids, house, employed, 3 vehicles (all running) and 3 dogs...

Fan since G1 aired on TV. First TF was Windcharger. Used to pretend some Gobots were Transformers (Red and Blue Tractor Trailer Gobot as Optimus Prime).

Now I buy way too many TF's...Thank God for my sons...

I started collecting 6 years ago. In 2002. My first Tf was armada megatron (R.I.P) then Optimus prime. Then I got reissue grapple in 2004 Which broke when my lil' bro stepped on it. Now I'm 14 and I have 121 transformers.

i started at 5yrs old, im now 30 AND WILL NEVER EVER STOP

i'm 29, married, no kids although we're trying, 2 dogs, 1 gecko, 2 cars, employed

i started as a kid around 4 or 5. my first actual tf was perceptor, then wreck-gar, and snaptrap. i mostly either had gobots or used broken tfs like blitzwing without the turret.

my first bot getting back into it was rid prime. when i saw um combined i had to get that one too, then he needed some cars to haul so i got the brothers.. then there was a lull until the tail end of armada when i saw my nephews awesome armada figures and i went into purchasing full time at the start of energon.

i didn't become obsessed until i bought alternators swindle and realized how awesome they really could be.

i remember watching g1 but can't tell you a single detail about the storyline other than op good megatron bad

i like beast wars but hated the toys. never bought any... i did drag out a kids set when i would house sit but never liked them enough to purchase.

I'm 30, was 6 when they came out.

I'm now 30 and have been collecting for as long as TFs have been available. Growing up, my parents both had good jobs, but worked away from home a lot ... so to compensate they spoilt me rotten. My first transforming robot was Gobot Tank and my first ever TF was Thundercracker.

I’ve got TFs stored in three separate properties and couldn’t give an answer to how many I currently own.

Ha, I feel ridiculously young and new all of a sudden. XD;;

I'm eighteen, and "discovered" Transformers less than a month ago when a friend sent me a link to TFA's pilot episode.

Before that, I do remember having what I think must have been a Megatron toy when I was very young, and watching Beast Wars when it originally aired without realizing that it was a TF series; now, I'm working my way through G1 and enjoying every cheesy minute of it, and have made it my goal in life to start what will probably be a very small collection of TF stuff with a Lugnut (from TFA) toy (Luggers is just so awesome! :D ), possibly to be followed with a Blitzwing or Starscream because they're also damn awesome.

Aw crap. It's already a 2-page topic and I'm the oldest one here- 37, married, 1.7 kids, and over 300 TFs.

My first TF was a black G1 Ironhide variant, it said "Diakron" on the box IIRC. Then G1 Optimus Prime, which I still have in fair shape and mostly complete. I also got G1 Grimlock and an Insecticon back then, then I sort of moved away from TFs onto GI Joe and Star Wars for a while, then in high school and college started picking up the odd TF that I thought was cool.

Then a certain Michael Bay created the live TF movie.

Yeah.

Since, I've gone nigh on nuts w/ the damn things. I love the engineering and design that goes into them, and the fact that they're freakin' giant robots doesn't hurt, either.
