What's the average age of a Transformers fan?

Recommended Posts

I'm 36 so I guess I'm the 2nd oldest here. I'm married and will have my 1st kid next month. I saw the 1st commercials the summer of 1984 and I thought wow! What cool looking toys and I had to have them. I saw the cartoon in September and I was hooked. Great memories

New topic coming soon: when TF collectors are old enough to be a parent of other TF collectors... :epic

How about old enough to be a GRAND-parent?!!!

I'm 51 going on 15 :) I collected a few of the cheaper ones( Brawn, Bumblebee,Huffer, etc.) when I worked at a toy store called "Circus World" which became Kay B Toys. That was '84. Then I graduated to the mid-priced like Swerve, Wheeljack,Mirage.

When the first movie came out in '86, I went totally nuts and haven't been sane since. I have NO disposible income...I have a basement full (totally and completely) of Transformers. Sadly, most of them are without boxes. But back then, Who knew?!

So, do I get a prize for being the oldest? :)

Let's see, I'm 17 now, and got addicted into transformers when RID came out. I never really did get into beast wars, the concept of transforming animals has never really got my attention. It was really my brother that got me interested in Transformers. I remember seeing a couple of tapes of g1 back when I was a kid, but not having many episodes of it always threw me off. My first toy was a g2 swindle. g2 Megatron was badass, my brother had him, I loved his green bulkiness of doom. Now to this day I don't collect as much as I used to a couple of years ago. Last thing I bought was a concept camaro bumblebee. Yeah, the toys haven't caught much of my attention lately, but I still enjoy what I have collected over the years.

GOODGAWD MAN! Are you gonna start from Diaclone standpoints? :tflaugh

PS: It's scary seeing guys on these boards who would be too young to even remember when BW was on the air. But it just reminds me of when I was in their position. Ahh, nostalgia.

PPS: A reward for anybody who actually made it this far down in my post. :P

Hey! I remember when BW was on the air! :tfmad That show was bad@ss! I have friends who would agree, though don't know that I slightly collect Transformers. I myself am to old for them IMO and have stopped. Not sure if I'll get back in the game though.......though I kinda hope to. Only cuz it'll be worth mone some day :tfgrin Don't get me wrong though, I'm still into TFs.

I didn't even know what Diaclone was until about 8 years ago.

My hero! I think it's great that you're keeping yourself involved in this hobby. And keeping me and my fellow 37s from being the patriarchs around here.

Your prize, sir:

:beer

33yrs old, started during Christmas 1983 just after my mom remarried. His parents were so thrilled to have a grandchild I scored a massive toy collection that day. This includes Megatron, Soundwave and Jazz all in one shot. Watched the cartoon from the first airing on KTVU-2 in Oakland (when it was merely an independent). My interest waned during Season 3. My mom refused to let me watch the movie and the season made no sense to me at the time.

Pretty much fell out of it until Armada came about. The G2 show was lame to me, BW/BM was not my cup of tea and by 2000 I pretty much stopped watching TV altogether so I didn't know much about RiD. It was only when I went into TRU to satisfy a different hobby of mine (1:24 - 1:12 model cars) that I discovered Armada. From then on, I've been back in the TF realm. Funny thing is, I collected the Armada figures without ever watching the show until later.

I think collecting these "toys" will keep us forever young. BTW, I also collect Bionicle...which is basically another type of robot in disguise :)

Hey Hip,

Thanks for the prize!!!!
