Official TF: Animated Toys Love-Fest

Recommended Posts

Animated episodes may continue running, especially in reruns, during the summer 2009, but I think the Animated toyline will "take a break" to allow the TF:ROTF toys to take center stage.

I agree that TF2 figs will be the main line during that time, I just don't think Animated will disappear completely during that time like how Classics and the other lines disappeared (Cybertron had run its course as a series, and none of the other TF lines had corresponding shows).

I don't expect Animated to disappear completely from the shelves, but likely it won't be much more than the molds we already have on a single row of pegs.

I'm not holding my breath for anything new because I have the feeling that the second movie line may have come along a year sooner than originally anticipated (these days, unless planned out in advance, most sequels usually are released about three years after the original), and the Hasbro design team and Tomy engineers may have had to drop everything else to focus on the TF2 toys so that they'll be ready in time for the film's release next summer.

I hope this happens, actually. If Hasbro and TT are forced to focus on the TF2 line then that means that more repaints will be needed to keep the Animated line going. And if repaints are the order of the day concerning Animated, then this increases the likelihood of a Wasp repaint of Bumblebee. This makes me happy.

I dunno, Hasbro's moto for TFA seems to be cartoon accuracy. Maybe you could get away with a wasp repaint, but other than Starscream no other TF could be retooled into a new character and remain "90% cartoon accurate".

HasTak always fills out lines with toy-only characters. They've done it with BW, BM, RiD, A/E/C, and the movie line. There's nothing to suggest they won't do the same with Animated. It's just the way the business works.

As for Animated's longevity. I hate to say it, but it will probably last until mid-2009. There's that little "Transformers 2" movie coming out, you may have heard.

Let's say, how many seasons left until mid-2009?

I see Animated lasting five seasons, six max.

I think animated is going to be around for a long time yet.

I really don't see Hasbro abandoning it come 2009. Unlike A/E/C the series is an on going continuity which has the good possibility of spanning 5/6 seasons so it'll be more than likely that rather than discontinuing it with continue to co-exist with the movie figures. If any line takes a backseat it'll probably be Classics for a short while until movie figs finish up in 2010.

As for not seeing new stuff, are you kidding me? Anyone has yet to see the Constructicons, Wreckgar, Omega Supreme, Blur or Swindle. That's a way in itself and we don't even know what's happening with the third season.

The line/cartoon have already proven a pretty big success (despite haterz/QC problems) so I'm pretty sure Hasbro will keep it alive as an interest remains.

Couple this in with Marvel Cross Overs, and Hasbro already has three fairly solid lines to last fans until Transformers movie bots start surfacing in less than a year.

Classics 2.0/Universe I believe will be the only filler bots until that point.

All I can say is I love the show, I love the figures, and:

Coolio. theres alot of G1 characters done animated style. I've been waiting for that one.

Bulkhead looks great, but just too dang small.

... I hope they have a shrink ray episode where Bulkhead becomes the smallest Autobot for an episode.

Ya know, to sell the voyager toy, they just might.
