Official TF: Animated Toys Love-Fest

As for Animated's longevity. I hate to say it, but it will probably last until mid-2009. There's that little "Transformers 2" movie coming out, you may have heard.

Generally speaking, from the marketing angle, larger toys don't sell anywhere near as well. Bigger toy, bigger price, as the price goes up, so does the unlikeliness that a parent will buy it for their children without special reasonings (i.e. birthday, Christmas, Kwanza, insert holiday here). It's a lot easier for little Johnny to convince mommy and daddy to drop an extra $10 in the store than it is $40. That in turn leaves companies to reduce the number of larger offerings at any single point in time. I'm not saying it won't happen altogether, but I sure don't expect any more than the few we have coming already.

I do know that we're going to be getting an Omega Supreme for this series that transforms into the Autobot shuttle/Ark...but I think it's going to be Supreme class, which will be even larger than leader, so I suppose anything is possible.

As much as you may or may not want to admit it, this is a very true statement. Even with popularity, the line is going to have a bit of a struggle to maintain all that popularity all the way through and up until the Movie in 09. Children of today all have A.D.D., nothing, and I mean nothing holds their attention like things did us when we were younger. It has to be bigger, faster, shinier, newer, sleeker, and more extreme.

Keep in mind that TF2 will have nothing to do with Animated, so we will most likely see the two lines running alongside each other if Animated remains a successful TV show (which seems to be very likely).

I can totally see Universe being set aside during that time though.

I don't think they'll run concurrently. I think Animated may break and come back as a "sequel" the way Ben 10 became Ben 10: Alien Force, though...so sometime next year we'll see Animated fall off and TF:ROTF toys begin to hit stores. Animated will be, for all intents and purposes, gone.

Then, in late 2009/2010 we'll see the debut of the "Transformers: Animated - Cybertron Wars" TV Show/toyline or something...and then a break for movie 3, and then probably a whole new series or something.

I think Animated and the new movie will run concurrently. Consider the fact that X-men Evolution was born of the popularity of the first X-film, but the series remained strong through 4 seasons including when X2 came and went in theaters. If a show is strong, it remains just as profitable as any movie of the same franchise.

Still, I think Animated has the chance as of right now to become the best TF toyline of all time, even surpassing G1. I see no remolds in the immediate future (except that goldbug thing), Hasbro is receptive to fan demand as evident with the Arcee figure, and everything looks like the show and is generally scaled well. By all evidence its selling well too, so I dont see them changing the formula too much, or ending in wave 4. The movie line proved one thing, remolds don't sell, and so far with TFA it looks like Hasbro learned their lesson.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying Lugnut seems to be the #1 crit of the line so far, and since they fixed Bulkhead's size problem, I don't see them fully ignoring Lugnut, especially with the generally small number of Decepticons and his prominence in the show, he sticks out like a sore thumb.

Batman: TAS wasn't killed off when new Batman flims came out in the nineties, was it?

Exactly, also note that Hasbro stated TFA was in design phases before the movie deal was even struck, so the series isn't considered by them to be something to accent the movie, it's their main franchise.

Batman: TAS wasn't killed off when new Batman flims came out in the nineties, was it?

Batman and X-Men weren't shows specifically created to drive a toyline. Animated episodes may continue running, especially in reruns, during the summer 2009, but I think the Animated toyline will "take a break" to allow the TF:ROTF toys to take center stage.

Definately a possibility. Either way, here's hoping for me Lugnut!

I just wanna say though, that the current Lugnut really is great. He's my favorite vehicle mode out of the line so far, and his auto-morph function is the best example of the technology in any figure of any line so far imo. Just really, really awesome. You can even get him in a cool kneeling pose, so I can't wait to get my Megatron.

I agree that TF2 figs will be the main line during that time, I just don't think Animated will disappear completely during that time like how Classics and the other lines disappeared (Cybertron had run its course as a series, and none of the other TF lines had corresponding shows).

And if it does (because it is a possibility - just not in the way that some make it out to be IMO), let's hope that Hasbro doesn't do the same thing that they did this time.
