Fistful of Energon

The Animated Dinobots seem to have the intelligence level of Noble/Savage, but aren't as well presented characters IMO. Even Noble/Savage had better character development (and even became a martyr).

I'd like to see the Dinobots get developed a lot more beyond just being big, stupid and angry - even if they only reach the level of Noble/Savage. (-_-)

(/OFFTOPIC)

This isn't G1 though. Just because the Dinobots were portrayed one way (or two ways) in G1 doesn't mean that they have to be portrayed that way in every other continuity. It's not like :animated Optimus Prime is G1 Optimus Prime.

In the G1 cartoon they had a caveman-level of intelligence, but they were also powerful allies of the Autobots. Cool.

In the G1 comics they were powerful shock troops. Also cool.

This isn't G1 though. Yes, :animated barrows visual cues from G1, and we get the G1 reference here and there. Still, this is its own continuity.

In :animated the Dinobots are powerful savages with a caveman-level of intelligence. It doesn't matter if that's not as they were portrayed in G1, because this isn't G1.

Where would Starscream have gotten the materials to make clones?

Oh I don't know, how about the giant freaking warship he uses as his base?

I wouldn't expect the show to be told in real time -- the point isn't how long it takes Starscream to build these clones, but the fact that he builds them in the first place. Compressed time is like, what happens on television and stuff. Unless you want to see 30 minutes of the Autobots repairing a bridge.

Which is to say,

SEEKAHS FO LIFE BOYEEEEEE

Also: Lockdown's custom steering wheel & gearshift = :win

I'd take it that... The Nemesis itself stored with huge amount of sparkless AI-controlled Seeker drones, and why Starscream could easily 'create' lots of his clones are by simply applying Spark shards on those drones, hence it wouldn't take much time, and also explain why he would choose to take refuge on Nemesis instead of heading back to hidings on Earth.

Just my two cents, anyway.

That's alot of Spark shards. I don't think he could find that many. Even if he tried to break a piece off of the one he has, that's still alot of pieces to break off. But it does seem that the clones may have Spark pieces in them. When Prowl and Lockdown was tracking the first clone, they were able to by Prowl's reconfigured Spark detecting device... So you could be right, still that's alot of shards.

Starscream found another Allspark fragment in that garbage truck, if you remember.

And considering that they seem to be all over the Detroit area, I don't think it would be too hard to find some more. They all seem able to track Allspark shards anyway.

And I thought that what they were tracking was Starscream's unique energy signature. Which would be the reason for him to clone himself.

I do know it would require lots of Spark shards for those huge amount of Seeker drones, but well, it's not like Starscream's gonna activate ALL of them, right? Might be just about 4 - 5 of them are all he needed, excluding the already destroyed two on Earth.

From what I've seen of future episodes there're going to be about

5 or 6

more.

I wasn't really trying to criticise the Animated Dinobots just for being different from G1 - just saying that they're really under-developed characters. Whether they want to make them more like their G1(G2) counterparts or take them in a completely different direction, I don't really mind - I just want them to be further developed into more interesting characters. And being an interesting character doesn't mean that they have to be smart, hence why I also pointed out Noble/Savage - a character with the intelligence of a wild beast but was still well developed and written as a character IMO.

As for the Starscream clones, perhaps Starscream found a way to mimic his energy/spark signature within the clones - similar to the devices that BM Rattrap made that could mask and mimic Maximal energy signatures. *shrug*

I thought Starscream didn't have an energy signature any more?
