JizaiToys PowerGlide

Recommended Posts

I work in the design field so please don't preach costs to me, I know what it takes, and with modern computer design and rapid prototyping, it takes very little; unless you take into consideration the amount of money that had to be spent on the equipment to produce them. These are most likely made on a machine just like THIS LINK keeping production numbers small because of the time required to produce a single item.

I'm still waiting for a response to this. Just to the JizaiToys website, you can see pics of their ultrasonic cleaner that knocks all of the support material off of the production material.

If you're looking for an informed response, I think you're barking up the wrong tree... all we have here is fan-certainty and armpit smell.

And yeah, I said quality... try chucking JizaiToys' Powerglide across the room and see how he fares. "And awayyyy we go!"

It will explode, just like your regular officially licensed Masterpiece Starscream or Yamato VF-1J or Soul of Chogokin Grendizer or Studio Half Eye Shin Getter-1. Your point being?

KOs will do that too.

The quality here is in the detailing and the transformation, not the durability.

Of course. :)

Not that the detailing or transformations are different on KOs, since they copy existing designs.

Point being, this could either resemble a KO or a high-end collectible. Read up on some comments about these toys (including kitbashers who did MORE work on them post-purchase) and see which one is more likely to be true.

Do you regularly chuck any of your Transformers across a room? My son has done pretty minor things to some and busted pieces off. I have no doubt Powerglide would all but disintegrate if you did that... and if you spend the amount of money some people are claiming it goes for I'm guessing treat other stuff you own the same way... do you also drive your car into trees to test its durability.

But for what it's worth... that last statement had me rolling. Perfect visual.

I would imagine they use the rapid prototyping/CLS machine to make the initial pieces then make molds from those pieces. The amount of time it would take to produce the amount of models they seem to make would take forever. My brother in law had a RP machine is while it made some awesome stuff... you couldn't make the stuff that Jizaitoys seem to be like... unless you have a really high end machine. Some actually make usable parts for machinery... so there are various levels of quality in those machines. I don't know if the ones in that link is the one used to make these customs or not...

So if Hasbro bought just one of these models and used it to build molds and mass produce them... they would be legally protected as soon as they slapped the TF logo and put them in TF packaging... correct?

My only point, though, is just that (like I said above) this could either be close to a KO or close to a high-end collectible. My truthful, honest, absolutely no BS opinion is that it is

both.

Some just stink more the others.

From reports I've read, Wheelie and Cyclonus are more like S.H.E. resin figures than $10 plastic Transformers. I have one S.H.E. figure; it's fragile but it has crazy engineering. You don't play with that stuff like you would play with mainline Transformers. Light play and display only.
