SEVERLY PASSIONATE ARGUMENTS ABOUT DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF A CHILDREN'S TOYS ON TEH INTERWEBZ =

NASCAR-FAIL.jpg

Are there other things to do on teh interwebz?

Magic Shrinky is still bad.

And people who have time to tell us that what we discuss on the internet is trivial should get back to their playboy jet setting lifestyles and leave us real dorks alone.

Oh goody! A new movie debate!!!

Ok, I admit up front, I made through over half the thread but I can't contain myself anymore.

Let me say first, I've been all over most boards and I NEVER saw anyone get censored simply for having a negative opinion of the movie. Now anything that went over the line is a bit different. We've already had threats of legal action made against certain boards for posting personal attacks and I don't blame them for putting a stop to that.

With that said, the negativity dried up like a prune in the weeks leading up to the movie and was few and far between once it was out. Yeah there were a few here and there, but the majority loved it. So those thinking there's some kind of majority hate....uh...NOPE! Not even in the ballpark.

Ok, what are some of the other beefs we see here.....

Designs. Sure I might have gone a different way with Megs and Starscream (didn't hate them) but the rest of them are incredible and looked fantastic on screen. I think I have to say it again for those not paying attention, "IT'S NOT A CARTOON!!!"

What works for cartoons doesn't necessarily work for big audiences. This was bigger, MUCH bigger than simply us the fans. Sorry if that offends some peoples senses, but it's the truth. Not just that, but an older crowd at that, so they had to up the ante. You may not agree with that, but you can't argue the results...IT WAS A SMASH HIT.

Plot holes? PLEASE!!! C'mon people quit kidding yourselves as to what kind of movie this is. And after all, we're TRANSFORMERS fans, since when was it ever Shakespeare? Plot holes, are nothing more than annoying little things that people who are looking for any reason to hate something just have to nit pick at. If you weren't looking for these things for the purpose of tearing it down, then chances are they probably never would have been more than a simple afterthought at best.

Now some of the action sequences were a bit fast, funny though that they seem just fine on the small screen to me, but I think they were meant to create a certain type of perspective similar to Cloverfield only not as extreme. No biggie, just gives me more watch out for when I watch the movie again, and again.

Understand too, that they're taking brand new technologies in film making to their extremes. As time goes on it will only getter better and hopefully a bit more refined.

Also let's not forget that this only a first in what could be a long line of films. It was an introductory movie with a relatively simple story. There's plenty of room for, well, MORE in the next movies.

Bay did what he was hired to do. He wasn't hired to make a 20-30 something year old fanboys wet dream. He was hired to make a movie that would make a LOT of money. He did. It was inevitable that in the process, no matter what he did, that certain parts of the fandom would cry bloody murder.

For awhile the majority seemed to. It was a rough beginning.

Not anymore! I'd say he ultimately did a remarkable job keeping the disappointment level among the fandom to a minimum. I really don't think ANYONE could have done a better job in that regard. Especially with a lot of the fan reactions from early on.

I'm not sorry for those who hate it. Especially if it's for the typical fanboy complaints. All I can say is quitting looking to the past for the future and maybe you'll be a little happier.

P-C brings up a good point. aliens ALWAYS look like bugs? well at least in ID4, they didnt have a bug look to their exoskeletons....

Um.... :pfx....yeah....

...but I liked flames on a Prime. It offered a bit of color instead of just solid red.

I don't even see the big deal, I guess, since they were just there. It's not like they were harping on the fact.

Nonsequitor from Prime in the film: "You know, these flames that are on me remind me of an autobot on Cybertron. He loved flames too. Flames."

...but I liked flames on a Prime. It offered a bit of color instead of just solid red.

Yeah! It added... Blue. Like his G1 fists... and legs and his G1 and movie head... So it didn't add any color really.

It just added flames.

Indeed. So why do people complain about them?

And to stay on-topic, yay for nice cover to a comic I'll probably not get.
