TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

well put.

I was lead to believe it was going to be heavily inspired by G1.

That is the reason I have trouble relating or identifying with any of the "alien" characters and their alt modes.

hence my prayers for a Solid plot, storyline, and acting skill by everyone involved.

glad we agree :thumb

on another topic i think it would have been kind of cool if the Megatron's G1 mode (the rifle/pistol thing)

was his sidearm rather than an altmode. I just think it would be kind of nice to see it in some form (not everything has to be an altmode.)

I couldn't agree more.

Here you have a story that actually has more justice in being portrayed as a live action film than being animated, just due to the nature of the story.

Imagine that You're Michael Bay (sp?)

You're going to step up to the plate and make the ever-awaited, dreamed of, live-action movie. You are talking to a BIG audience. An audience that is NOT yours. An audience of something that is massive, that you are committing to represent.

You tell the world of dedicated fans of a 20+ year lived story that has been manifested as one of the biggest ideas ever to grace multiple industries, that you're going to keep the original characters (as we know them) and make the plot about the original story line...

Then, out of the spontinuity, or lack of being able to leave it alone as someone mentioned here, you change it.

You decide now, to reinvent the wheel that doesn't need to be, just to make it into what you, as an individual think it should be in your solitare opinion, instead of listening to the opinions of those you promised...Get the Powerglide out. :tflaugh Seriously.

Call me a fanboy, a geewunner or whatever you wish in label-ism, but unlike such a stereotype I DON'T fear change, I embrace it, but what I don't embrace is being lied to. If I knew what this movie would be from the get-go, I wouldn't have expectations that weren't being met, so by nature, that doesn't sit well with me, and why should it?

I understand that people are tired of hearing about it, but I'm sorry, what do you expect when someone jerks a MASSIVE fan base around like he did? People get pissed and have every reason to be. Bay is using the name of something that we know as otherwise to cash in on. If he didn't call the film "Transformers", how many tickets do you think he would sell, comparatively? He saw the selling potential of using the "Transformers" name to push HIS idea. This has now become entirely HIS idea. Can you see why that is wrong?

Bay should have seen the aggression coming when he started to try and reinvent the character designs. You don't lie to people to get their support and change the idea that people originally supported.

Now with that being said, I do think the movie will do good. I do think that it will be a hit when it opens, but that speculation is based on the fact that he is using a name that people already recognize. I REALLY wanted to go see this movie, just to go see what I was told it was going to be originally. When they announced it years ago, I was dreadding it, but after hearing that they were going to keep it real, I was exstatic. Now I'm going to probably see the movie out of curiousity to "See what they did with it", which really sucks if you think about it.

So I guess it's really a win/win situation for Bay, Paramount and Dreamworks. Touche.

Let this be a lesson. If you want to make lots of money, use a previously huge name to make a movie with, because even if THOUSANDS of fans forsee it as being butchered or even somewhat butchered in one small way or another, people will flock to it, wallets open, regardless, because you've used a name to twist their arm. Bravo.

I seriously do hope that it is enjoyable and I don't doubt that I'll enjoy it, as I love science fiction in itself, but I have lost any original expectation of what I was told that this movie was going to be. I'll just accept it for what it is and maybe consider seeing it when it comes out. Maybe I'll see it a week after it opens.

Anyways, as stated by someone on this forum before, I don't think it's necessary to convey that these are my opinions when they are obviously coming from me, but I'll go ahead and state that these are just my opinions, only because there is so much segregation here.

Try and have fun with it and enjoy it for what it's worth.

Lied to???? :roll Seriously get a hold of yourselves. Most of these 'lies' were just the media showing some old stock footage of the cartoons (because they have nothing else). I don't ever remember Bay, Spielberg or anyone claiming it would be a G1 movie - ever.

That was just us fans adding 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

just sayying why everyone was so freaked out, thats all...

i am just sticking up for what i think happened, and the fact they did use 'old stock footage' was what started the missconceptions in the first place as well as a number of other factors... (e.g. using a 10ft mockup of G1 optimus as a prop was alittle stupid - they could have used any other optimus.)

the fact they couldn't confirm or deny what line they we doing (or taking off as it were) add to the confusion.

is it so hard to say: this film is not based on any current tf mythos, not really.

like i said i think this arguementing between the fandoms should stop, we now know G1 is not going to happen, ever.

about the upcoming movie that is.

now as a spiderman fan, there were some things that i had to let go of when the movie came out. like him having organic shooters, gobbys power ranger suit, ect. once i stfu'd, i was totally jazzed about the movie and i really enjoyed it. and i think ive come to that point with the tf movie. i think ill especially be excited when we see a real trailer and not a teaser. seeing those things in motion i think will give everyone here fanwood. even if youve been slamming the movie. but everyone whos Starscreaming on either side, all i see is a few people stating opinions and then going off on eachother. just leave it at opinions and not reply to someone with stfu(look at me, isnt it cute? i think i can stop the web fandom Starscreaming :redface). i still love g1 (which is ok folks) bw, bm and all that. but now im looking forward to the movie.

and remember: the damn movie isnt out yet either. i think thats one of the reasons that rpompted me to stfu and wait patiently for the movies release.

^STFU...I still dont like alot of things but am gonna see it anyway
