TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

I was watching "Jurassic Park" last night and it occurred to me that no film has ever really achieved that kind of hype ever again. Let me explain what I mean by that. Sure there have been movies that have been hyped up the ass--almost any superhero movie springs to mind--but really, they have more of what I call "empty hype." You can pretty much taste the fact that this was made for the cash alone, and I understand that almost all movies are done for that reason. However, it's like the studios are trying to flood the box office with their own product at such an alarming rate that it's hard for the movie to make an indelible imprint on your mind--look at how many times the #1 movie title changes hands on a weekly basis. But with "JP," you got a sense that maybe, just maybe, the moviemakers were actually trying to make you believe that dinosaurs were real again, that the T-Rex was breathing down your neck every second. They weren't about to reveal their secrets--I mean, we all knew it was faked but we didn't care because it looked so badass and so real--and the amount of product tie-ins actually felt like it was supposed to further the movie along rather than cash in on it. It all just felt like a labor of love (for lack of a better/less cheesy term).

That said, I hope that "Transformers" will end up being the "Jurassic Park" of its day. When all is said and done, I hope that it manages to rekindle that magic that "JP" started and manages to stay at #1 for as long as it can. I just hope that anyone associated with this project will be glad to say "I have 'Transformers' on my resume" for as long as they work.

Yeah, I know I'm a dreamer, but c'mon: I know a lot of you are thinking the same thing.

Good point, and I agree 100%. Let's just hope that the sequels don't follow suit with the JP franchise... Here's the rundown of what I mean:

JP1:

Book version: Ian Malcolm dies, along with nearly every other "core" charachter...

Movie version, Speilberg opts to keep some charachters (including Malcolm) alive, to keep a PG-13 rating. Minor change, acceptable, for the most part.

JP2:

Due to the awesome grossing power of the first movie at the box office, the studios commission Michael Chrichton, the author of Jurrassic Park, to write a sequel, for a second movie to be based off of. Chrichton (who has made his carreer off of his reputation as a very scientifically accurate author, explaining all of his technological ideas so indepthly that they seem not only feasible, but obvious, as if they are in fact real,) accepts the deal. The studios throw him a curve though, as thier pitch is for Malcolm to be the main charachter. Problem? As stated above, Chrichton killed Malcolm in the first book. Solution? In the first chapter of "The Lost World", someone asks Malcolm "I thought you died on the island a few years back?" and his response is: "I was only kind of dead." (This was the ONLY explanation of Malcolm's ressurection ANYWHERE in the book.) I took this as Chrichton's tounge-in-cheek stab at the studios for milking his franchise.

JP3:

Take the protagonist from the first movie, add the island from the second movie, add in some pteranadons, and BAM! There's your script for the third movie! Chrichton is so appalled, he refuses to have any part in the movie.

Credits include the line: "Based on charachters created by Michael Chrichton."

Let's hope the TF movie doesn't generate enough revenue to force crappy sequels, "just because." Hopefully, any sequels will be as good or better than the original, like Spiderman or X-Men, and not a force fed star power showcase, like the last few Batman movies.... :roll

Okay, im new here, and ive just read *most* of the 16 pages of largly valid arguments about the up coming film.. and here's my veiws...

Generation

G1... end of story (i know that bit has already been decided anyway.

G2 = nothing of note

BW = i hated it

everything else, i never felt the need to find out

BUT G1 00's style, not 80s style.. , there is no call to make it retro, frankly tfs was one of the few good things to come outa the 80s (other than me :tflaugh)

Story Line

Again, a 00's interpretation of the first 3 eps of G1, but with all those oddities and plain nonesencical happenings removed.

Charecters

MUST HAVE (IMO)

Prime (truck)

Megatron (Tank, i know, i like the idea of him as some sort of artillery, but i think he'd be cooler as a tank)

ULTRA MAGNUS (He (again in my opinion) was the BEST second in comand the autobots ever had, and the most beleivable, and also i loved both the charecter and the toy (i just got the remake GLEE!!)) (Car transporter)

Starscream (fighter plane)..

Bumblebee (origanal beatle)

other than that, i really dont mind, just NO BLURR.... and no astrotrain, I like trains (i know im sad), and evan i know that THERE IS NO POINT HAVING A TRANSFORMING TRAIN, oh no, there is no track, damn... (i beleive someone made a similar point about megatron and the whole hand gun thing).

Sound Track

I liked the origanal movie's sound track (mostly), some of the songs were cheesey in the extreem, but it was the 80s... 3 tracks stand out in my mind (though 2 only cause i downloaded em offa the net, not cause i noticed em in the movie)

1) The theme remake, that soo rocked.. it was exactly what was needed, i honestly beleive the only reason hair metal ever existed (*spits in disgust*) was to make the transformers tune kick ass in a whole new way!

2) Unicron's theme (the first thing you hear, when he's devouring that planet) it's soo eiry and cool, and totally stands up to modern electronica in my veiw.

3) Decep vs Autobot music (battle on autobot city) it's just a great bit of instrumental music.

that said... NO MUSIC FROM THE ORIGANAL FILM SHOULD EVER BE USED IN THE NEW ONE... NONE.

did the spider man movies use music fro mthe origanal spider man movie, course not.

Id like to see a wide range of bands on the sound track from indie dance such as air, death in vagus and so on, to rock (cant think of what bands right now), to metal such as fear factory, koRn, linkin park, chimeria (not onea their heavyer efforts though), faith no more ( :note We care alot, about transformers, there's more than meets the eye :note, damn strait), and Rammstein (goddamn i love Rammstein)

And Finally

WE HAVE TO HAVE THE BIT AT THE END OF EACH SCENE TO TELL YOU WHICH FACTION UR ABOUT TO WATCH NEXT, IT ROCKED, I ALWAYS LOVE THAT BID... naa nana nah NAH!, yeah baby!

* disclaimer*, this is all my opinion, i am aware that if i expected the movie to be as ive said here i'll be bitterly disapointed, but thats what thsi kinda thread is about, people saying what theyd like to see *disclaimer*

And Finally

WE HAVE TO HAVE THE BIT AT THE END OF EACH SCENE TO TELL YOU WHICH FACTION UR ABOUT TO WATCH NEXT, IT ROCKED, I ALWAYS LOVE THAT BID... naa nana nah NAH!, yeah baby!

You know what? I haven't thought of that or heard anybody else bring that up (that I remember). I bet they could find some way to tastefully reference it somewhere. Did Transformers rip that off from the old school Batman TV show?

*waits for Madhammer to tell us which was the first show to do faction bumps*

I don't quite think it would work on the big screen. It was left out of the 86 movie.

It would be funny the first time, but would get old within the first 20 minuites.

And I suggested it, sarcastically, about 4 months ago. :thumb

Sorry, I'm too busy pukeing at the thought of those nasty scene transitions in the movie. Look, I'm sure there will be a couple nods to the fans, but you don't want it to become distracting.

Anyway, this is what I want to see: Peter Cullen as a trucker driving Optimus Prime switching radio stations and coming upon that cheesy-ass "rock" porn-sounding instrumental that Jazz would always crank up on his stereo and being like "dude this kicks ass!!" I'm telling you, it'd be EXTREME!!!!!

It would be funny the first time, but would get old within the first 20 minuites.

I thought I heard it before somewhere. ;)

lookin at the "original tf movie" thread on how to make it better...

http://www.TFans.com/index.php?showtopic=21139

it got me thinkin..

this is truly a cult film. if we got people still talking about it to this day it is surely to have an impact on so many people!

we really need that rumored movie to come out soon. i think the fans have been waiting too long for this lol. and this new movie better be damn good.. soo good that our childrens childern will be talking about it like we are now!

we have debated to death about hot rod n prime, the animation.. soundtrack... who should have died, who should have been introduced, ways to make it better... yadda yadda.. but we still find new ways to talk about something like it was released yesterday! i have to admit that this was one movie i rented from the rental place on vhs numerous times, and when i got the dvd back in 02 i watched it maybe 5 times that day lol.

n i know alot of u can quote numerous lines from the movie lol...

"this is bad comedy"

  • 2 weeks later...

Very good question

My guesses are:

bumblebee

jazz

wheeljack

ironhide

prowl

bluestreak

soundwave

laserbeak

starscream

skywarp

thundercracker

ravage

Does anyone know if spike or sparkplug will be in the movie?

post-5-1112370952.jpg

thegriswalds13@adelphia.netsounds really good, it's just that this whole "realism" can really damage the movie. Sound Wave is so cool and they don't want him just because he is a casette player. Big Deal! He is still very important. Megatron is not going to be a gun. Now that is just fricking stupid. He is know for being a giant robot and turning into a small gun. It is just what he does. And how do they know if shrinking is possible. Their from Cybertron. Maybe they learned how to before us. :tdown

The people that I believe should be in it are

Autobots

Optimus Prime (without saying)

Bumblebee (because he is popular)

Ironhide (because they need someone to kick but)

Arcee (so it dosen't seem sexist)

Ratchet (need someone who is smart)

Jazz (he is cool)

Hound (a great fighter)

Decepticons

Megatron (obviously)

Starscream (second in command)

The Seekers (henchmin)

Dead End (a cool bad guy)

Octane (a strong brute)

I would really like to see Omega Supreme, Devastator (constructicons), Sound Wave, Shockwave, Dinobots, Ultra Magnus, and few more Combiners. But since their not "realistic" there is a good chance that they wont be in it. You must admitt that they would make the movie hell of a lot better. I guess I'm asking to much. They should save their money to add more into it. Sure it will take longer, but it will make it 100% better, :thumb
