TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

And to be honest, in G1 the characterizations of the more minor characters was so sparse and one-dimensional they're readily interchangable with some of the A/E characters with better characterization. Take for instance G1-Ratchet and A-First Aid - pretty much the same guy, but A-First Aid is much better developed. Also, I bet someone who had never seen Transformers would be hard pressed to tell the difference (by characterization) between G1-Sideswipe and E-Hot Shot. Both were played as seasoned warriors with a bit of hot-headedness about them.

a few things ratchet was known to have been grumpy at times and was not afraid of fighting like firstaid.

sideswipe was better than e-hotshot :tfmad , he had piledrivers and was a joker who stook by his brother sunstreaker. G1 is much better written than energon

i cant wait to see what they do with the movie but the main chaaracters i think would be best

autobots

power master optimus prime (starts off as regular prime but changes)

ultra magnus

hot rod

ironhide g1 version

bumblebee (cliff jumper in sequel)

jazz

grimlock( rest of dinobots in sequel)

decepticons

megatron (g1 version )

soundwave (g1 version with lazerbeak,buzzsaw,ravage,rumble

shockwave (disobediant plans a take over in sequel)

starsscream (ambitionist plans revolt)

devastator [

bruticus [ all have large parts and are 5x taller than other TFormers

menasor [

I do know that many of the Alternator's toys are going to be the basis for the characters.

I know Megatron and Optimus are going to be in the movie.

I also know they are in the process of making an Ultra Magnus Alternators toy, which is a repaint of 20th anniversery Prime.

Anyway it would stand to reason that the majority of the toys for Alternators are the toys they will be using.

Autobots:

Hound

Silverstreaker

Smokescreen

Tracks

Grimlock

Wheeljack

Meister aka Jazz

Decepticons:

Swindle

Ravage

Deadend

Shockwave

Starscream

Soundwave

My only hope is that the Movie toys will be a little more detailed as Bots then the alts are. I mean Not overly complicated and detailed but the movies gonna make the transformations "realistic" so that means Hydraulic rams and what not like MP Prime. I Hope they do better in this movie then putting Alt's on the Big Screen. They know how to do a good alt mode and make it transform well now "take it up a notch, BAM!"

Just to put a stop to some of the rumors and unnecessary conjecture.

Confirmed Autobots

Optimus Prime as a cab-over semi like in G1.

Ratchet as an emergency responce vehicle (not an ambulance)

Confirmed Decepticons

Megatron as a tank

Starscream

Soundwave (no clue as to alt mode)

Plot

Humans have the Matrix and the Transformers are already among us (ala Robots in Disguise)

Don has said, on his board, that some of the Alt designs will likely make it into the film, but never expounded on it further. Actually, it might have been in the interview that was on TFormers.

First off, it is awesome that they are gonna make a life action transformers movie(Finally :clap ), but I hope they base it on Generation One and I hope they don't screw up the story line. It is also cool the Speilberg is involved with the movie and I hope they have John Williams (the guy who did the music for Star Wars) do the music for the movie.

My picks for the Autobots to be in the movie would be (Not considering the seven transformers limit):

-Optimus Prime (Duh!) as an eighteen wheeler.

-The Dinbots (Yes all five of them)

-Bumble Bee

-Wheeljack

-Perceptor (your guess is good as mine)

-Ironhide as a pick up, but still have the G1 attitude.

-Hot rod as a Dodge Viper

-Arcee as a sport car of some sort.

-Hound

-Hoist

My picks for Decepticons to be in the movie:

-Megatron (Duh!) as the Walther P-38 or a Military tank

-Star Scream (without a doubt)

-Soundwave as a communication sattelite of somesort (not like Shockblast from Energon) or a big boom box

-Thundercracker

-Skywarp

-Ravage

-Laser beak

-Devastator (with out him, the movie would be seriously boring without him in the movie.)

-Blitzwing

-Scorponok

well i took a quick look at some of the first and last replies and i really cant read all the 15 pages of replies... :P

anyway...

what i indeed hope is that the movie would be done by someone capable handling such a task. some kind of peter jackson of the transformers.

and pray they won't use too much of CG. that would suck. :tdown ...and CG is way too common lately. i mean you don't really want to see the TF movie become some sort of crappy movie with cheap CG effects to fill the lack of a good script and director, do you?. there are way too many such movies lately...

...as for the characters i hope they don't forget about shockwave :clap

I don't want them to use CG to fill plot gaps, and to fulfill overreaching directorial ambition, but the movie is gonna be loaded wth CG. Backgrounds, characters, character interactions, battle environments, weapons, etc...There's really no way around it.

I think the problem is that people assume that CG = cheap. Any effect can look cheap if it's not done well. Anyway, the Transformers are all gonna be CG, so you may as well get used to it. Not that I think it'll be much of a problem - it's a heck of a lot easier to make realistic CG robots than it is to make realistic CG people.
