Don Murphy Speaks Up About the TF Movie

Recommended Posts

I am curious as to what will happen with soundwave though.

Me and a friend were thinking Soundwave might make a good news van. That way, his "tapes" could be made up of different equipment inside the van.

For example, Laserbeak could be a big news camera. Kinda like Armada Laserbeak, only bigger, and with a better and darker design.

As far as all the other crap.  I must admit, I was one of the people criticizing the organic webshooters.  I thought one of the key parts of his story to show you how much of a blue collar hero Spider-Man was, was sometimes he couldn't even afford webfluid.

That's not a "key part of the story". That's one "example" of one of the main ideas behind the character. Peter always being broke (or close to) is a traditional character trait (although there were times when he didn't have financial problems - being married to a supermodel/actress sure has its good sides), but the "no money for webfluid" is NOT necessary to portray that. There are hundreds of possibilities to show that he is in financial trouble, and the webfluid thing is just one of them.

Edit:  SFC that Salad Finger guy really gives me the creeps dude.

The pic, or did you go watch the vid? :tfgrin

There's a vid? The pic is creepy as it is. Where's the vid? I gotta see it now.

Click the sig, it should take you to the first flash vid.

Dude that music in that vid really gave me the creeps.

Then I'm sure you're just gonna love the second one. :tflaugh

I really hope that Murphy/Desanto/whoever else realizes that the way a few people of the fandom are reacting does not represent the majority of it. People are trying to shoot this thing down before it even hits the runway and it's really unecessary. I'm a huge fanboy, and a huge believer that G1 should be kept the way it was. What does that mean? That in the comic books and cartoons, when I was 8, all the plot holes, mass shifting, timetraveling, how the hell did the Constructicons make Megatron when Megatron made the Constructicons thing didn't bother me. I didn't notice. Even now, that's part of the charm of G1. Beast Wars tried to make sense of some of it through it's excellent story (my opinion). And now we have the movie.

However, this is twenty years later and we're finally getting something a lot of us had dreamed of, a big budget, big name movie, and all some of us can do is complain about Megatron not being a Gun?! Soundwave not a tapedeck?!? I've asked this before, do we want another Street Fighter? ORIGINAL and new Punisher? Or even the FF movie? Or do we want something that actually does justice to the fandom and franchise that has lasted 20 years? I'd say change what you need to. Of course, don't completely re-write the mythos, that would be the complete opposite of what needs to be done. I think we should put our ignorant, because that what it is (no one knows how Hollywood works), closed minded and selfish ideas to the side and support these folks and help them in making this a good movie, not battle them with all these negative comments and speculation. I will ask you this:

Can you imagine how incredibly bad, and cheesy, CGI or not, seeing a 30 foot Soundwave shrink down to a walkman sized tape deck would look like on the big screen? Then think about that happening several times in a 1 hour and half movie....

Yeah, I thought so.....

Touche.  Some movies do well despite it, but it's in the minority.  For every one that you can name that is successful despite it's changes, I can show you 5 more that sucked.

And let me guess, those would include movies from the 80's that didn't make any sense....

Movies made within the last 5 years have had the number of good films leading the number of bad films:

Good:

- X-Men

- X-Men 2

- Spiderman

- Spiderman 2

- Punisher

- Daredevil

- Hellboy

- Blade

- Blade II

Bad:

- Catwoman

- The Hulk

- LXG

That's 3:1 for the Good movies. Hmm...

Actually, that is a matter of opinion! Personally, I thought The Hulk was a great movie! Yea, it started off slow, but the action was great! As for you listing Daredevil in the 'Good' list and The Hulk in the 'Bad' list, that is just a matter of opinion. Because, if you search: The Hulk got higher ratings than Daredevil on MANY sites. One of which was movies.go.com. The Hulk done twice as good as Daredevil. Daredevil's average score was 1.81 out of 5 and The Hulk's average score was 3.67 out of 5. So, listing them like you did is just a matter of opinion. Although, I like both movies. Just my .02.

You're totally missing my point. Even if you swapped those two movies, you still get a 3:1 ratio of good movies to the bad ones, a fact that disputes Comfortador's statement of there being more flops that successes when it comes to these types of movies.

hey, I liked LXG :tfsad

but you're right about the Hulk, it had good action. Everything else was boring, which is why I didn't like it. I can't believe they're making a sequel, and I can't believe I'll still go see it just to see if it's any good.

I think you were the only one. :tftongue

I got an autographed picture of Sean Connery in the mail as a thank you :tfgrin

Hulk bad very bad and will never see it again or and sequel. That was not the Hulk that was green monster that was called the Hulk, come-on the director even said that he was trying to make a delicusy out of American Fast food. He didn't even like the Hulk and it showed nothing like the Hulk. O and making the dad a super villain was it for me so done with that. hay to each his own though :thumb O and Grim LXG was ok, so add me to your list of one who liked it. O and on topic I hope this movie ends up being good, but I just don't see that happing, not as a live action movie, but you never know.
