What figure/character DOESN'T need the Classics treatment

Recommended Posts

Characters that I personally think could/should be forgotten in Classics 2.0 and beyond (should the line actually continue):

Sky Lynx, Arcee, Gears, Huffer, Perceptor, Seaspray, Wreck-Gar, any of the Season 3 minibots, Broadside, Sandstorm, Skids, Hoist, Smokescreen, anything "Nemesis", Sunstorm, Pretenders, Head/Target/Powermasters.

And if they plan to do with other combiners what they did with "Classics" Devastator/Constructicons by just repainting awful past lines, I'd rather have NO combiner teams at all.

Yes, I agree with all of you have stated that repainting old figures is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but it's called "Classics". I would think this would mean "New" molds. So far, most of them have been impressive. Some of the gripes I had was Cliffjumper and Bumblebee. I don't mind sharing the bodies, but they could have made different heads. Astrotrain, I think the train portion is a little too futuristic. I know Locomotives are advancing, but I really would have liked to seen an oldermodel. These gripes, however can be overlooked by me. I just thought I'd point them out. Devastator, on the other hand is the only Classics I don't want.

Was this sentence intended to be so deliciously ironic?

Let's not kid ourselves, the first few years of Transformers was nothing but old toys served up in new packaging. Without repaints and rereleases, we wouldn't have any Transformers line at all, and those practices will always be a part of the line. Always.

The truth is, nothing is more "Classic" than Classic Devastator...not that I bought him, either, you understand. I'm so sick of combining construction vehicle teams I could spit.

I am going to put my butt out on the line and say that a Classics Wheelie might actually be cool.

The reason we don't like Wheelie is because they gave him a sucky personality :tfpuke

But, if one looks at his file card, he really was suppose to be a screwed up survivalist type who'd been living by himself a little too long (think of Spotlight Kup) on Qunitessa.

If done right, I'd buy a Classics Wheelie.

Now, for those who Don't need a Classics version: I'm going to go with the tape bots (Rumble, Frenzy, etc.). They just don't work if they're not tapes, and no one uses tapes anymore. QED.

I say Skids. I like him, and love his Alternator, but that's exactly it... his Alternator is a perfect update for him. His Alternator is probably closer to his G1 form than a Classics would be. And given that he was in the last wave which is still somewhat available... I say we don't need it. Sorr,y Skiddo.

Yes, I am fully aware that "Transformers" was a line created when Hasbro decided it needed some cars and equipment that could change into robots and so they rebadged a line of Japanese toys.

This is the "NEW AGE" and Hasbro now builds their own toys, so would it hurt them to make new molds for the "Classics" line instead of dishing out cold leftovers (ie. Devastator.)? I understand that for different series, it saves them money to keep recycling these figures, but for a line like "Classics", well, you expect something "original", and not leftovers.

Reflector, Gears, Pipes, SEASPRAY, gnaw, bruticus and the rest have all been listed already.

Yes I see that Seaspray is posted already.

Seaspray is a dork.

But Warpath is cool.

Totally. :thumb

Yeah, but Warpath is a military based alt mode and wasn't the whole point in G1 that Autobots were by their very nature not supposed to have military type alt modes?

Actually what I would like to see is some of the alternator molds/characters shrunken & simplified for additions to Classics.

Well, I have never heard this one before. If that were true, then explain to me why Hound was a military Jeep?

Insecticons... those guys were pretty well done already.

Same thing w/ Shockwave, although I think someone already mentioned this.

No more Optimus Primes, PLEASE.

Prime has been way overdone, but he's an icon, so they will continue to make an Optimus Prime toy part of any Transformers series.
