I brought this up a few months ago, and hit Big Bot for some quick news and got the head line

 

"Alternator Rodimus could be the last Alternator ever made. "

 

WTH?!?!?!?!?!

 

One of the best lines, with the least amount of series backing and it's going down?

 

The movie was good and all, but doesn't capture my interest like BT and ALT does.

 

Maybe it's ok since It's already a BIG line and I'm running out of room.

 

Either way, it's only a few of the new main stream and the Master Piece (which also might be doomed) and that's IT for me.

The Alt's is the line that got me back into TFs also. They were pretty much the TFs I had been waiting my whole life for. 100% accurate cars that turned into detailed G1-esque robots through a complex transformation process. I guess we should be grateful that the line had such a good run. Unfortunately, petitioning Hasbro is not going to bring these or the Titaniums back. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I'm just being a realist.

AHEM! I would just like to bring a story to light, on cbs there is a show known as "JERICHO". i personally didnt like the show, nor did most of america, there however was a sect of die-hard fans . Jericho was cancelled last season, but thanks to the efforts of the fans , it is getting reprise this fall.

 

all that was shown to cbs, was the fact that there were people that werent just buying into the show because it was on tv. most of those that watched it, actually like dthe show. they launched a web/mail attack, and they bombarded the phonelines in protest.

 

maybe this is what is need to get has/tak back in the alt/bt light. I am going to be weighing my options, along with trying to find others on the many of TF's forums. I am actually excited to hear that most of us started collecting tf's because of this line, and without it, I dont know if most will continue. btw, I have found one movie toy i actually might get, eventually. but i just want it for KBing, sad.

Now you're stretching it. This isn't even comparing apple and oranges. This is comparing Mountains to a garden hose. Millions of people watch TV, millions of people don't collect transformers.

 

Most of us aren't really all that upset that Alts are gone. They had a good run. Go ahead and do your petition. You're going to need to put in a lot of time, money and effort if you hope to pull a Jericho.

They ran there course, time to give em up and think of the good times you had with them.

I agree with I'm Batman. Money talks. If Hasbro had made more money from the Alternators to begin with, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

 

And I might add that I would still be buying Alternators now if they hadn't made so many "what the hell" decisions going all the way back to Dead End.

Alternators and Titanim lines will not continue due to time and expense of parts for them and not selling like they wanted

 

it is my understanding that "Alternator" line is changing into the "Movie Ultimate" line that is going to feature a scale size 2008 Camero (Bumblebee) and so forth and so on ...

Boycotts nothing/petitions nothing.

Bring on Classics Animated/Classics 2.0

 

FTR movie toys rock in ways alts wish they could.

I'm afraid I think Alts is doomed to. It's a shame, but it has had a really good run so we shouldn't be too angry.

 

I do think, however, that Hasbro should do the honourable thing as give us just a few more, to "finish off the line".

 

Eg, Megatron, Soundwave, Ironhide, Ratchet. Obvious, popular characters fans would DEFINATELY buy, and that no G1ick line can be without.

I mean if Family Guy fans can get a canceled show back on the air after years of gathering dust, we have a fighting chance.

 

No. No, you really don't.

 

Family Guy fans far outnumber TF fans, and considering how big FG is, compared to Alternators...there's well...no comparison.

Family Guy came back because the syndication was popular, and because the DVDs sold unbelievably well. Alts were less popular, and didn't sell well enough.

 

I thought it was due to Adult Swim and a better time slot. Ditto Futurama. I guess that would fall under the marketing aspect.

 

Somebody (maybe everyone) said one of the reasons were the licensing from the Auto Manufactures. Well after the Commerical for GM and Ford runs its course, maybe everyone will sit back and re-evaulate this again. (and fingers are crossed)

Good point Trench, I hadn't thought of it like that. There aren't so many popular characters they could do.

 

Obvious repaints: Frenzy, Trailbreaker (dodge ram)

 

New molds: Megatron, Soundwave, Ironhide/Ratchet, Bumblebee/Cliffjumper.

 

Then you're kinda getting into not-quite-as-popular characters that may not sell: Brawn, Gears, Hoist, Motormaster etc.

 

I wish they'd give us a Soundwave with a Laserbeak under his hood, and a Megatron. You've got to have these two!!
