Have you ever seen a CHILD buy a TF??

Recommended Posts

I had to plow through a small ocean of children to get Shadow Panther. :P

Sounds kinda like me (only without the small ocean of children). I remember snagging up an Energon Arcee (and to my credit it was the first and only time I saw it in a store). Some kid saw me with it and went over to see if it was there. I heard this (Awww man) from him. Luckily, I was already checking out when he got there.

Now the question is, was that fiendish and I should have given him the one and only Energon Arcee I ever saw in a store and then get her later, or was I in the right.

I believe in as big a franchise as this is, it's a first come first serve. Which is a major reason why I snagged up pretty much the entire movie cast save for '08 BB when I did. Once the movie hits (and since it'll be summer vacation), there'll be lots of kids buying these things. Movie toys always sell well. Kids want the characters they saw in the movie. Now it'll be funny (though highly unlikely since they don't make the human characters, but still funny) if a kid asks "Do you have any Capt. Lennox figures from the Transformers movie?"

Though if Hasbro did make any of the human characters it'd be cool if they could include core pieces of equipment each character is known for. For example, Sam could come with his grandfather's glasses and an Allspark cube that could fit and be in scale with the TFs.

Agreed. I remember seeing loads of black suit spidey sat on the shelves for about three weeks, and then they all mysteriously disappeared the week the movie was released...

Would be nice is Hasbro makes them the way they now do the GI Joe figures. There's an untapped Hasbro market there for sure.

:rofl :rofl :rofl You're a better man than I, Goki. :thumb

I've seen plenty of kids buying Transformers too. In fact, that's how I lost Cybertron Snarl! The kid saw me picking him up and all of a sudden he says ... "WOW, MISTER! That's the best toy I ever saw"! He was five or so so by all rites, I gave him up. Sigh ... all to further the cause. Lol! One day soon I shall be reunited with Snarl but till then the Movie-Formers are holdimg me over quite well. :tftongue

If you want it you can buy mine. PM and LMK. I'll sell cheap.

I'll be sure to do that man. Thanks! See, good things come to those who wait. Now the child is happy (although he may have blown up his Cybertron Snarl to Kingdom come by now ... I shudder to think about it) and now I am. It makes me laugh to say this but ... Thanks Death! :thumb

Im sorry but the kid always comes first. I can find my Transformer another way.

Dude I'm 13 and I go into a target or Walmart every week to see what they have and almost always buy something.

I'm 14 (almost 15) i didn't know there were other minors on the boards. how i came to be a fan of skywarp i don't know because he is not in any of the modern cartoons yet he has been my favorite since i was 10. anyways i buy transformers at the store all the time and some of my friends at my old school had transformers but i have not seen any other kids buy them. the closest i saw was last week age when i saw a kid buy optimash prime but thats it.

I can in all honesty say that never...not once...EVER have I seen a kid sitting in a toy aisle looking at TFs, let alone purchase one. Have you?? It makes me wonder what Hasbro's target market should be. But maybe its just my area??

Honestly? Not one time, ever. Even in TRUs. I've seen (and given sage advice) to adults buying them FOR children, but the closest I've ever seen to a kid picking one out was in a Target when I was snatching up movie toys and a kid wanted the voice changer hat. His mom asked me how much it was and then decided he didn't need it that badly =P Made me kinda sad, actually. I was kinda excited about seeing the little guy being interested. Guess I'm getting old and sentimental =P

I've heard of kids getting them though. My friend Mitch's little boy knows damn near as much about them as I do. I think it's pretty damn cool that a 4 year old can look at my homage kitbashes and know who they're supposed to be.

I said before that I have NEVER seen kids ever buying or asking for TF's at the stores. I've only ever had one of my students mention the transformers I have on my desk.

BUT...last night I was buying the one and only Leader Megs they had at the Walmart and there was a kid BEGGING his mom to get him Optimash. His dad was looking at the movie figures. He saw me getting megs and the Dad and I talked for a while. He said his son has never watched or shown interest in TF's untill now that the movie is coming out. INSPITE of the cartoons. I guess it just depends on where you live.

It would be nice. I wouldn't mind have a decent TF human character. Besides, there's only a few that they could make a whole subline there. G1 Spike/Sparkplug/Calry/Daniel/Chip Chase. Armada/Energon/Cyb kids (I know they made Kicker but everyone complained about the rubberband issue), Koji from RiD, and some of the humans from the movie {namely ones who have a prominent appearance [sam/Mikaela/Capt. Lennox/Sgt. Epps/Sec of Defense Keller/Agent Simmons/Maggie (Rachel Taylor)/Glen (Anthony Anderson)]}. So that's 22 humans compared to the hundereds of TFs that they already have.

I'd include the Japanese G1 humans, but I don't know if there were any and if so, what they're names were, with the exception of Ginrai.

Great to see more kids here! Also makes me seriously wonder if we all should start toning down our obscene language and adult references in our posts (which has largely gone on unchecked here). I for one will start making a conscious effort...

You're a better man than I, Goki.

Heh, the funny thing was that I wasn't even getting those Shadow Panthers for myself! I already had one from my Rhinox Vs Shadow Panther set, but I was getting two individual ones for Ben Yee and another fan in the Netherlands. A few hours later I decided that I might get another one for myself to keep sealed as it seemed really popular, and lo and behold, when I returned to the same store, the entire new shelf load of Shadow Panthers were all SOLD OUT! Wow...

When the CD-ROM Convobat Vs Megalligator set came out, that proved even harder to find so I really made a conscious effort to get a spare set for myself to keep sealed (which till this day remains sealed).

I have seen kids with TFs in line next to me with their parents and they look at me like i am a nut
