First Look @ 'Animated' Optimus Prime; New Info On Show

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but for those of us who actually collect the toys the issue here is not so much what the toon characters are going to look like but what are the toys going to look like? As far as I'm concerned they can make the show look how they want, but the toys......better be something nice. If the toys are spitting images of the show.....I'm out on this one. But, that's taking into account that the entire show will look like *ahem* Primal does here. Again, I hope this is a WIP or early production because if this is any indication......This will be the first time in TF's entire history that I hate the aesthetic. Especially if it doesn't translate to good toys.

You know what will happen? This show will get so many young fans. The toys will look nothing like the toon. Then in season 4, Action Masters that are semi toon accurate will appear and then in 10 yrs will get 10th anniversary Animated Prime that is toon accurate and transforms and all us old farts wont be here to see the new fans rejoice like we did when MP Convoy was shown.

That's a best-case scenario.

Seriously, I hope it will be as big as G1 was. That would be awesome. But looking at the style I don't think it will bring anything fresh to the table when compared to other modern toons. I'm guessing that if it's above average, we'll get a good run in terms of popularity and a guarantee for another 10 years of mainstream TF lines.

*this post is a rant and adds nothing be warned*

i knew when i seen who the crew behind this show it was going to be very stylised... but theirs style and then theirs Blot this is the later but strangely he reminds me of star convoy only with BM primals jaw line

*this part might actually add something to this topic*

i think the problem is their are not many good drafts men out their in the US cartoon industry who can also animate will or rather their are not many animators who can grasp scale and perspective that well. now im not saying their are not any but... it seems clear that doing this stylised stuff is cheap and easy to do

I know this suck for you. I used to be into art and drawing too. For years, while watching cartoons, I studied the details like a hawk. We always want things to be visually perfect and to make sense.

thanks t-man

i have to agree gasket

personally i don't think transformers needs to be stylised and by copying other cartoons its not going to stand out at least when it looked like a generic robot cartoon it was the only one that really got put on tv out side of Japan *watches RiD DVD's*

I never got why people bash RiD for it's show. When it aired in Holland I was in an animation class and we all agreed that show looked awesome. The level of detail was great and the animation is near flawless. Armada was the setback for being all floppy. (I still liked it.)

I liked RiD too. Not every show has a floating singing shark.

Which cited haiku's no less.

At first I was horrified and appalled by this image. However, after sleeping on it, I am "cautiously optimistic". If the cartoon ends up being more Clone Wars than Teen Titans, this type of animation could be very cool. Think of the scene in Clone Wars where a squad of clone troops goes in to rescue the Jedi from General Grievous. That sequence was amazingly cool. Something similar to that but involving TFs would be fantastic. However, if we end up with Teen Titans style superdeformed junk, I will save my time and skip the cartoon.

I didn't bother to read through all 5 pages, but I really wish people would stop calling this "innovative." It's not innovative when it looks exactly like every other CN show since 2001, it's derivative. Learn the difference.
